Really funny little game, loved the "Stanley's Parable" type of narrative :)

zxcdani 2020-10-05 23:47

@azemut sorry if you're deaf now we're fixing the battle royale part now. thanks for enjoying our game!

janou 2020-10-05 23:49

comari 2020-10-05 23:59

Found that to be pretty hilarious. Great submission - thanks!

steambrain 2020-10-06 00:04

Nice writing! A bit drag out to my taste, though. Battle Royale is earkilling, yeah))

zxcdani 2020-10-06 00:08

After spending my first 30 hours making at least 6 different prototypes, I certainly feel the "stuck in a loop of ideas" thing. Even thought about doing a game around this concept but didn't know how to go about it. Was going to do it more like a "game jam simulator".

You game is charming. Very drawn out though, I would probably spend some time refining the humor, keep the best bits and move on as quickly as you can. Especially in a game jam where people are probably only wanting to spend a few minutes per game.

As for the actual gameplay, your platformer needs coyote time. It took me longer than I like to admit to realize that I should've walked to left (even though it was the first thing I did when the platformer popped up), and probably more than half of my jumps were unsuccessful.

I quit at the boss because it kept restarting after a single hit, which was made worse from the fact that the player's hitbox (or boss hurtbox) is very large. For the first several times I took damage I didn't even realize it. I kept wondering why I was getting sent back to the start. So also some player feedback on that would be an improvement as well.

Good job on the game. The humor is pretty good and the narrator charming. :)

@game-endeavor thanks for the feedback and thanks for the compliments! we didn't test the game before publishing so we didn't really think about those stuff, we literally had 5 seconds on the clock when publishing

ghost20000 2020-10-06 00:40

@game-endeavor Thanks for the review! Sad to hear you didn't make it to the ending (the second best part IMO, right after what we called CatMeme12).

Absolutely hilarious. The writing and voice acting is so incredibly superb! I can tell you all had a blast making this game, great job all around!

tsunscreen 2020-10-08 19:28

Humour is spot on. Enjoyed it!

amin-jk000 2020-10-10 06:31

I love the voice acting and the character art :v:

jose-bonilla 2020-10-10 06:35

This is my favorite game of the jam, bar none. Perfect score. Really, congratulations on the game. The only thing I'd change is collisions in the boss battle, but not a problem since it was easy (I lost twice before beating it). Great job, congratulations!

nsadie 2020-10-12 15:09

Excellent voice acting and good funny writing! I enjoyed your game!

kr4ft3r 2020-10-13 23:13

Well, I thought Jumpy was a decent name ;( No hard feelings however, here, let me just give you the lowest possible rating in every category. There, doesn't that make me feel better? Ah, don't worry, I can't even rate games, I was too late to submit my game for LD47. Speaking of which, if you find some time to give feedback on my browser-playable game that would be great, the link is in my LD profile description.

Seriously though, this was the most inventive entry I have seen in a while, if you made something like this but where player choices actually matter you'd have a hit on your hands. Probably.

krysh 2020-10-14 11:52

Really cool idea and narrative! I enjoyed helping you make your game!

ghost20000 2020-10-14 23:25

@krysh Excuse me? Everyone who worked on the game is listed on the credits screen in the game itself (RomM, ZXCDani, RonM, and I).

krysh 2020-10-15 05:26

@ghost20000 Haha dont worry dude, I meant as the player and the whole fourth wall thing, choosing the character name etc. Just a joke.

zxcdani 2020-10-21 19:41

@kr4ft3r i just played your game for a bit less than an hour and it's really cool! as for feedback it'd be cool if there was background music other than the part where you choose a planet. i have a question though. does everything you say reset you?

ghost20000 2020-10-21 19:42

@krysh oh haha, sorry. Thank you very much! Hope you enjoyed OUR game!

kr4ft3r 2020-10-21 21:11

@zxcdani thanks man, appreciated! Yes, that loop with text input is the main relation to the theme, and a way to postpone players from seeing it all (there wasn't much time for writing content). The actual story is, the player is the supreme creator, who's spoken or written words have the power to unavoidably create a new universe. Or spawn the same one, if exactly the same word is used - since the seed word gets passed down to clusters, galaxies, systems and worlds, each getting their own pseudo random number generator seeds which are based on the original typed in string, therefore if you liked something about a certain planet or its civilization you can go back there by using the same word and map coordinates. You will even have the same things happen to you, if you use the same sequence of choices.

Btw your game deserves more rating/reviews, I hope you are not shy about advertising. Any sort of image on the game's LD page might also help. While it's true that not knowing what to expect works well with your game, the lack of image may be putting some people off from clicking the link.

zxcdani 2020-10-28 15:36

thank you to anyone who rated and commented. we got 16th in humor! pretty good for a first ludum dare. credit to @rom-m who did the voice acting & music and carried us to that rank in humor
