When I played this at first time, I thought it gonna be chilly and relaxing, but at night, when I get a seeds, the grape creature is scared and killed me. The little plants are very cute, I think. Design is very nice, and music is quite scary. Very good at all.

tutti-ankka 2023-01-10 11:43

Very polished entry. I think my favourite thing was the sound design aspect, very fitting. Good job making this in such a short time!

kikiriki367 2023-01-12 02:49

The New game button doesnt work very well i think. Upon starting again the crops that were already planted stay there but they cant be used for anything. And i wasnt sure what im suppose to do once i grow the plants, what was the point of the oven... Is there a chance you could give me some hints? Becuase i would love to finish the game! The graphics, sound and mood are 5/5 no brainer! So it is a really beautiful entry, good job!!! :D

alexrose 2023-01-12 20:08

@kikiriki367 you're able to pick up your plants with Y then throw them by holding and releasing A and potentially satiate that which seeks to destroy you, and then who knows what might happen? the game does indeed have an ending. I believe Angela has pushed a bugfixed build that fixes that issue now, I think the problem was we had a permanent UI scene and a main scene and unity was instantiating the spawned objects into the UI scene rather than the game. should be fixed now

noeloskar 2023-01-12 21:59

This game looks amazing, i love the visuals, the survival aspect is nice, i'd say it would be better if the tutorial text (with how to plant stuff) was more obvious, like i spent first 2 days just walking around aimlessly lol, also the days feel a bit too short to do stuff, i understand it's to make it actually challenging, and i appreaciate challenging games, but i still think it should take longer for a day to end

elmoeinstein 2023-01-12 22:00

Honestly my first 10/10. Nothing much to critisise

alexrose 2023-01-13 01:14

@noeloskar I know we're going to get that feedback about day length many times, but I found it necessary having tested it both ways. With a shorter day, there's no urgency to sprint and use your stamina so your only resource doesn't matter. There's no reason to stay up late when the monster appears because you can do everything before the evening and go to bed

it does make it challenging, but if the day is lengthens it becomes a dull experience where it's essentially a stripped down stardew valley where you go to sleep at 6pm every day, and I didn't want it to become a hollow version of what it could be, so I made the decision to keep it challenging. Usually this is a bad call in terms of getting ludum dare upvotes but I felt the philosophy of the game design is too important to throw away for brownie points. I appreciate the feedback

Beautiful art and so fully featured. Just floored by the quality achieved here.

noeloskar 2023-01-13 09:34

@alexrose i can see your point, maybe i felt like that, cuz the day music really has no urgency to it, it's a chill and relaxing track, and it just ends too quickly and turns fast paced, maybe a longer day would work better for a version of the game, where sleeping isn't as easy, kinda like in don't starve, where you need to survive through the night instead of skipping it, but that would change the gameplay a ton so it's more of a idea for a future version rather than what could be easliy adjusted

I really like the atmosphere and aesthetics. Also love the horror aspect, that's what makes it great for me. Took a while to figure out exactly what and how to do it.

Gorgeous artwork

tygrak 2023-01-15 14:11

Super pretty -- I love the artstyle! The environments, the water (I kind of wonder how the water was done), everything is super pretty. The character is very nice too. Really cool music too. I won, though I wish I understood more of the story, it was quite intriguing.

It also reminded me of Oxenfree a bit, both in the artstyle and ost but also in the mysterious atmosphere, which is cool :).

Great job overall!

This is a winning entry in many categories! The artwork was so beautifully painted, and I loved how it was implemented into the game. The water and the trees moved with such life. The audio scape was also very well done--I liked how the track morphed into something haunting as night approached.

The gameplay had some well-thought-out mechanics, like cooking to restore energy (and losing some if you stayed out too late). In the end, I was able to make it through :) Can't wait to see more from you all!

Also, this detail is usually low on people's task list, but you had such a beautiful start menu  and those button animations! Such a strong introduction really adds to the overall polish.

strega 2023-01-16 04:23

Nice and normal farming sim, definitely nothing weird going on at all. Great art, cute mix of procedural and hand animations that works well. I thought the audio was really fitting and helped create a spooky mood at night. It was fun getting new radio messages throughout the days and uncovering the story.

lereveur 2023-01-18 00:01

This entry is a gem! Superb graphics and music to serve a poetic and melancholic mood, with a gameplay just enough hard but not too much, it was very pleasant to play, thank you and good job! capture_Ozera.png

onizik 2023-01-18 14:52

Good job! It's really cool looking project. Visual is so nice and cute, gameplay is interesting and relaxing. I'll wait for more games!

better-half 2023-01-19 22:16

This was such a strong entry. Absolutely gorgeous to look at (I'm a sucker for this painterly/watercolor style), lovely design and animations for absolutely everything. Gameplay was also pretty solid, and it was pretty mindblowing to realize just what the "throw pets" mechanic was to be used for.

The plants-turn-to-pets mechanic was also incredibly clever and ingenious, and a pretty nice surprise at first. Also the stamina gauge was pretty well balanced with the sprint cost, time it took to use objects, plant and water seeds, and the time where the music kicked in and the creature came out to hunt you down. It never felt too punishing but just pressing enough that you were not wasting time and got the job done quickly.

And holy cow the music was SO good. When it transitioned to fatigued, then hunted, then fatigued AND hunted oh my god I had chills every time. You nailed it with the overall atmosphere and I loved every second of it.

Plus the notes laying around, general lore behind it all, the dialogues, radio etc were all extremely intriguing to follow and added a touch of depth that I didn't expect to the whole thing. I would be SUPER into a full-blown game like this one honestly, with a complete, fleshed-out story and additional harvesting-petting mechanics.

If there is ONE piece of feedback I have is that the aiming square for placing down stuff and do actions felt a bit imprecise/inconsistent and it would be a bit frustrating at times to water 3 squares in a row. Other than that this is a stellar game, and impressively so considering the time limit. How did you do it?! Bravo!

alexrose 2023-01-20 03:25

@better-half I agree on the squares. The thing is, it casts ahead then snaps that to a discrete grid, but that means if you are just on the precipice between two grid squares it will snap from the first to the second, and the only way to do that is walk left and right again. I tried scaling it with velocity, felt bad. Scaled with the stick, doesn't help keyboard. I'm sure there's a way to fine tune it where it eventually feels good, but within the scope of the jam I decided I was wasting too much time on it and had precious little time so I just timeboxed it and called it in a state I wasn't happy with, same with the centipede motion. I ended up extending the range any later because it felt bad having it too close

robobarbie 2023-01-23 00:54

the spooky music in the evening was perfect -- never before have i been in such a mad fucken dash to get to BED!!!!!

once again, really loved the art style and the easy-to-understand gameplay. very polished and fun to play!!

sheepolution 2023-01-25 19:29

Nice game! The art looks beautiful, the music is awesome. Love the contrast with the spooky scary dark side of the game. All the controls were made clear, which is nice. The only thing I didn't understand is how to win. I was able to harvest some plant buddies though.

artsyomni 2023-01-25 22:18

I think this is a really strong entry! Love the dynamic music and the atmosphere, and I think the organic discovery of the objective works really well. When I got the weird thing from the monster, I didn't know what to do with it for a good bit. Turns out I just never explored the right side of the island. =P

lizelive 2023-01-25 22:24

yeah clearly a pro team great work

artofluba 2023-01-26 00:57

Omg this was awesome! The graphics were just really something else. I looooooooove the little critters, and the intruiging storyline too! I didn't realize they were chomping on my harvest until a little further on and then I wanted to feed them to the monster lmao!

nikolaj 2023-01-26 03:11

the art and music was wonderful

hayricakir 2023-01-27 19:43

I fell in love with the visuals of your game... It is amazing. So relaxing atmosphere. Good job, 5/5! If you would like to shred some zombies in slowmo, be sure to check out my entry, I would love to hear your feedbacks!
