LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Fourth try! I do feel like beating it was an accomplishment, though.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Wow! Cool shader and world generation. Climbing stuff and really getting to just mess around and explore was fun! Spotting cubes was really hard, and seemed to be lucky before anything else, especially since the render distance is so short. The platforming felt pretty nice though; the game is hard, but it felt like I could really take a lot of risks and do cool junk that paid off, like blind jumps and perilous climbs. Just the way the levels were put together with the angling and stuff made all that work well dynamically.

SolarPower by jesusnoseq 2017-08-08T05:10:33Z

Sweet concept, with great graphics and well-communicated mechanics. The controls are a little wonky, which produces a lot of frustrating difficulty. The outer star radius should probably be shown too, and the camera angle is questionable at best. However, it was a very fun experience and I love all the little touches that went into displaying game information like the solar panel colors and the backdrop showing the lighting. The code for calculating the shadows seems to be impervious. I wish I had the patience to beat it! I may come back later to try again. I definitely think you should pursue this concept further if you can.

The Light City of Karola by davidcollado 2017-08-08T04:56:12Z

Simple platformer, straightforward theme interpretation. It's a neat technical accomplishment, the graphics look pretty good, and the mood is nice. However, from a game design perspective, there really isn't anything novel or interesting, and the gameplay had an odd difficulty curve to it. I thought it was entertaining that one level depended on the rapid walljump. Overall quite solid and I don't mean to understate the work that shows through in making a solid mechanical base that feels good. Thumbs up!

When It Counts by http404error 2017-08-20T20:19:21Z

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for your ratings and comments, I'll try my hardest to reciprocate.

Just an FYI, there's a bug one of our players found that allows you to get past the end of the game without dying, which is unintended.

> Please mate, rate more games if you want yours rated.

Yeah, you're right about that, sorry. I've just been running out of time in the day; I plan to cram in as many as I can in the last day or two. I feel a little bad for relying on blog post ads, for sure.

I got to play and rate everyone's games! :D Literally at the last minute, though.

Her Final Words by Eliana 2017-08-22T01:15:40Z

Hey, another game about dying! [Ours is a similar concept](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/when-it-counts). I really enjoyed the writing, and the audio was particularly visceral. At first I was going to critique the lack of explanation for who each character was, but I think that was really important to the game. The only thing I would add is a shortcut from each end back to the decision point. Thank you making a great game. It made me sad. Good job.
