This was really cool! I had so much more fun than I would expect from a game this simple made in 48 hours. The levels were just the right length that I could *just* make it back to the outlet after each run which had some really good tension to it, and the way the levels swapped out seamlessly was really. RIP Plug Head.

This is a fun game! I really enjoyed the play and dynamic, and graphics
Art was very smooth, and transitions between areas was unnoticeable. Good job!
Great art! I would love to see what you would be able to do with more time on your hands.

Didn't even notice the level changed until i started walking, very impressive.
Nice game! I thought the controls were really precise, and I like the artwork on the main character and the outlet. I thought it got a bit too difficult once I got two of the fragments, as I seemed to need to be almost perfect in order to not run out of time. Other than that, good job!

Fun game, really cute graphics! The last few levels were super unforgiving! I ended up beating it and loved the cinematic ending :P Congrats on finishing the compo
Not bad, I enjoyed it. The plug character is pleasant too!
Fun little platformer. Some audio and animations could of been nice and the environment feels abit simple, but the platforming felt really nice to move. Great work.
Pretty good, it did feel a bit unfinished because there was no audio though. But cute graphics

Not sure what the problem is, the controls keep becoming completely disabled for me. Keys stop working. I restarted the game several times. Sometimes it happens early, sometimes late (late as in after I picked up the first fragment).
Besides that:
The plug head dude is cute, but... the main character is a female plug (as in, holes, not prongs), and is drawing power from... Other holes? Would have liked it to make sense, to play a plug that draws power from outlets :)
Controls were fine, camera was fine. Would have liked to see more "liveliness" in the character, I feel that's central to a platformer's feel.
There is one problem I find with the design, when you're running low on power there's literally nothing you can do about it, leading to what's known as "deadman's walk" problem, where the player must continue while knowing what they're doing is pretty much pointless. The R to restart helps, but doesn't solve the fundamental design issue.
Cool! Hope the feedback's been helpful :)

Simple and cool, keep up the good work.
Nice game, and a good difficulty balance too, although the first section of level three (jumping between pink sections) was a bit tough.
Cool game! Loved that the map changed.

I really enjoyed this. The simple solid graphics for the environment and the pixel art for the plugs went well together. I would've liked to have had some background music and feedback sound effects, but that didn't detract too much from the experience. The first time the map changed after getting the first piece, it wasn't obvious that I had to go back in the same direction, but I was able to quickly figure that out. Maybe an indicator letting the player know to go back in that same direction would've helped. Overall, very well done.
Extremelly fun and addictive, but i found some levels too hard

Nice game with a sad ending :0) game mechanics are pretty impressive. Second level had me try hard to finis it.
Good game. The third level is tougher I think. But like it. Keep moving forward.

Was very entertaining to do the 4 challenges. Force fields where so smooth that i needed some time to get used to them. And somehow I couldn't control my character anymore when I had to deliver the outlet and just died by auto walking forward but I somehow feel like that was intended?
Nice tight hard platformer, but somehow It didn't had sound. Cool art too.

Very difficult! It's interesting how the timer works like a tether too; rather than just running out of time, you have to decide if a mistake requires you to go back and get more power or if you can still make it through. Also, nice art, the character is fun and appropriate.
I'm not really sure how to play this. There is no .exe or anything, only .class files and a few images.
what the heck, this is so cute :D That plug's little smile! I really like discovering how the level will change each time. Now all you need are some snazzy sfx :D
Simple yet fun. I loved the random honey. Great game!

@good-enough it sounds like you clicked on the source code link - the game itself is all contained in a .jar, so there should be no .class files or images.

Nice beginning of a game, i like the simple graphics and the colors. Good idea to make elevating tiles and slow ones, but this ideas could have been used better in the level design. Don't hesitate to make the level design richer, multiply the possible paths, and eventually give more time to the player so that the difficulty isn't only related to good agility to jump safe and fast. I assume it's due to the lack of time, but the main character should have some animation. The energy indicator shouldn't have so little steps too, you can use interpolation if you don't want to update it with shorter interval in the game logic.
Ahh, I LOVED how the levels changed like that. The different types of fields were fun to interact with, and sometimes there was a good amount of tension as I wasn't sure I'd make it back in time. Plug-Head is a cute little character. Animation and sound would rock, but having just done a game myself, yep, I get it.
Bonus points for gratuitous honey.

The game was absolutely amazing! I loved the simplistic style of the game and the variety in the colored tiles. I didn't really feel a difficulty curve; every new level felt about as difficult as the previous one (which is a good thing, I guess?). Also extra points for cuteness of the character!
The only real thing I was disappointed in was the lack of an end level. I get why the final "level" was laid out like that, and it kinda makes the impact just a slight bit bigger on the actual ending, but after having spent four levels learning new mechanics, I was expecting that they'd all combine in one monster of a level as the final stretch. Might just be me though.
Negativity aside, the game was really enjoyable for the time it lasted. You did a good job on it!
I liked the game, the graphics are simple and clean. The character design was great too! Although I (and i think this is probably just me) but the level with the rising purple blocks was really difficult to complete because i always just ran out of power.
However good concept!
This has a cute, cartoony style to it. I like your attention to detail. I think the right music would add greatly to the feel of the game.
Cute wee thing! Good mechanics, challenge, and level design. The ending didn't make a ton of sense, but that's about it.

I don't have Java installed and don't want to, maybe consider using a technology stack that allows for easy deployment for your next game jam entry.

I don't know, is it normal that I don't hear any sound? BTW good game, I love the sprite of the main character and the little intro at the start! :)
Hey !
All I have to say is that the lack of audio is very unfortunate, but I'm sure it could be easily fixed. I think some... electrical music would do ! (see what I did here ?)
Otherwise, I like the concept. I did have some trouble controlling the character, as the game had a pretty low frame rate on my end and wasn't smooth, but that might just be my computer. Overall, this is a pretty good entry :)
Feel free to check our game out : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/berzerk-hunt
Very nice! The controls worked pretty good on my computer, even if the character seemed to slip and slide (making the single block platforms rather hard).
Looks cute! Unfortunatelly I did not have enough patience to get through the third level (with the elevator).
I had some issues running it on my computer, but once I did get it running it was a lot of fun. Good job!

Simple and nice mechanic, I like it. I think I found a when trying to find the 3rd part, when I tried to float on the 3rd purple zone sometimes I would be walking on top of it and couldn't jump.

The game was so hard ! I collected the two first fragments, but in the third one I got stuck, but I love hardcore games, even if I am not good at them at all, because they are challenging. Anyway, the game is so cool and so fun, the graphics was simple and... everything is going right in this game. Great entry
It's so AMAZING!!! I really like it. It's a game on Java and our made game on Java too, but we use LibGDX framework, we unjar your game file and saw that you write on a clear Java. You are perfect. If you add music, Mr.Plug win LudumDare)) I see small bug, when try to get 3 of 4 fragment.Снимок экрана от 2017-08-15 13-50-22.png I stand on purple ground and can't jump to next platform. Thanks for emotions!!!

@sumgamstudio
Thank you for your feedback! Somebody noticed this bug before as well, and it's because of how the purple blocks work:
The purple blocks will push you up if you are in them. What's really happening when you skate on top of a purple block is you fall a pixel, and the purple block pushes you up a pixel, making it seem as if you are just standing on top of the purple block. Since they are more like air than a solid block, you can't jump on them - to the player it isn't obvious what's happening, so I could see how this is confusing... I'll keep this kinda thing in mind for my next game. Thanks again!
Really fun game, with interesting mechanics. Graphics are nice, I think that everything that I have experienced was said in comments. Good Job!
39kb for Windows, and the game was really amazing at that kind of portability. No audio, but still loved how the game goes. The 3rd fragment was hard lol.
Really cool, fun, complete game! Not only have you got fun and a variety of levels and mechanics going through the levels, you've also got a complete story with a brilliant ending. Made me feel emotion. Great mood, loved this game. Fantastic work!
Fun game, even with the simple graphics, cute main character. I got stuck on part 3 though. Would have loved a bit of sound, even just a bfxr random jump sound. Nice level design making good use of a couple of simple mechanics with the purple bounce things and honey slow down. Pretty cool

This was really a great entry! Awesome work on level design! I like the way the game is broken down. I kinda wanted to see plug city after dashing through that last level. The game was very challenging in a good way! Great work!
The graphics look nice, the puzzles were fair and kept the balancing curve, the hunney was floating and overall it was an enjoyable experience!
The story was well written, and the ending was suprizing!
The audio is the only negative feedback that I have to give. Even some sound effects could easily be generated, but not even those were implemented. I suggest bfxr for sound effects, and BoscaCeoil if you decide you want to add background music as well. I won't judge if you don't make background music (I'm no composer either), but some sound effects can be generated within seconds.
Overall, a very enjoyable game, with rich story and fair puzzles! For a game made by one person within 48 hours, this is above acceptable! Well done!

This was a fun platformer, with an interesting literal take on the theme!
The controls felt precise. The time limit was a bit constrained, especially in the third level. I think that I would personally have preferred a shorter time limit, but not having to return back, since having to replay the level, even after having finally solved it, felt a bit disheartening. As for the level design, the different types of terrain gave a nice variety, and I really liked the smooth transition between levels. The story and nice pixel art gave a nice mood to the game as well!

@somnium Thank you for the thoughtful feedback. More importantly, *did you just write a haiku about this game?* That's awesome.
The characters are very cute. I couldn't pass the first level :( Constantly coming back for charging - tiring.

I got all the fragments but then i kept dying trying to deliver the outlet.. ? he was moving right and i couldn't control the character so it'd die again and again.
The game felt good :) The mechanics were pretty solid overall (the horizontal push was a bit weird but the rest worked fine for me). The honey was a bit random lol. I'll check out the source code, i'm interested in seeing how did you make it in java. Good job man!

That was so frustrating, The level of the 3rd piece was killing me. The game is really fun and the game mechanics is so enjoyable. The first 2 pieces were a piece of cake, the 3rd one was something else since jumping from the purple stuff is nearly impossible so if i take some time to focus on the jump, I run out of time. The art style is minimal and the character is so cute, I really like it. I didn't hear any sounds but that's ok. Overall, it was fun.
Cool game! I enjoyed discovering different kinds of terrain and their effects.
I don't think the limited power worked with some of the precision platforming, where you had to get it almost perfect, or restart the level.

Really nice entry, the graphics are simple, but are kinda charming and well thought! The game itself is quite challenging (THAT THIRD FRAGMENT :P) and I really had some fun with this.
Controls worked just fine for me and the overall experience of playing it was really fun, though the mood was cut a bit because of the lack of audio. :P
Nice entry overall! Good job there!
This was surprisingly entertaining~ The cute little narrative (with a rather sad twist) was certainly a very nice touch. Platforming was simple, but worked like a charm. I loved the level design, where you added new mechanics to spice up each level and keep things fresh. Overall, well done, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially how the ending was handled, mechanically rather than story-wise.
