Who did the sound? I don't usually notice sound, but the music and sfx in this are stunning, I couldn't stop paying attention to it. The voiceovers are hilarious, not sure if intentional haha.

The art's also gorgeous. Cohesive color scheme; bright lights so I know what to pay attention to. Nice vfx too :P

Fascinating game mechanic; I've never played it before (targeting then rotating) - it's unique to charging batteries, one would say :P

My advice: I would like to know how to move in the beginning; no directions were provided. Also, maybe the story could be fleshed out more; for example, I don't know why or how BatteryMan is saving the world. Is the world in a blackout? Is it BatteryMan's *destiny*? Overall, I found it really enjoyable :D

Cute little game, got to the 3rd "stage" before it got too tiring. Love the voices it pulled the game together well as in introduction.

fingamer 2017-08-01 12:29

Fun game! The audio is very good. Game mechanics were quite unique and interesting. Overall experience was enjoyable.

majamiltu 2017-08-01 12:40

dragojt 2017-08-01 13:03

Funny entry and nice concept for this theme, good job!

iamsodarncool 2017-08-02 00:02

Wow. Incredible game. The talent of the people who created it really shows.

The music is fantastic. When I started up the game I just sat there on the main menu listening to the theme and watching the city roll by. The art is all awesome, it's a very pleasing game to look at. The gameplay is fun and engaging, I love running around and avoiding the phone people. I also love all the little touches of humor, like Battery Man's feet just dragging behind him as he moves and the exploding phones. My only complaint is that it could be a little more difficult, I was able to beat it in 5 minutes on my first try.

Altogether a really polished product that is stunningly high quality for 72 hours. As someone who just started making games I aspire to be like you.

xavierseal 2017-08-02 00:42

Awesome! Had fun. The motion-blur fits well in the game especially when spinning the battery. Like it a lot!

xavierseal 2017-08-02 00:42

And btw, we use the same name, man!

cudabear 2017-08-02 01:44

This was really fun! The enemies felt too dumb, as in they got stuck on the geometry a lot. Charging the towers was really nice but on the last level the towers that weren't relevant to the objective confused me. Twin stick on controller felt really nice!

reax 2017-08-02 01:48

Cool animations, nice theme and gameplay. I felt it to be too easy though.

dreadloaf 2017-08-02 02:41

Really fun game! The audio and graphics were really well done and the premise is interesting. I find a bug where I was stuck moving in one direction and I couldnt turn off my beam, but that may have just been on my end. Regardless of that good job!

alien 2017-08-02 05:19

Really great game and I had a lot of fun playing it.

azurebyte 2017-08-02 07:39

One of the developers here. Firstly, thanks for checking it out and commenting on here, if you did!

It was a challenge to find a balance between too hard and too easy. Too hard and people wouldn't play it and too easy and it'd be over too quickly. Considering this is a game jam, we expected people to be playing a whole bunch of games, not just ours and therefore aimed for a 5 minute experience so you didn't feel like you were missing out. If that's about how long it took you to complete it, we did our job :)

boxfort 2017-08-02 08:49

Nice graphics and sound on this one, and I had a lot of fun playing it! I thought that the spinning to charge up was a nice touch too. Good job!

krammetje 2017-08-02 19:59

Great game. Easy to understand what to do and a fun story.

togis 2017-08-03 00:43

I uploaded my gameplay of this game on youtube, you can find it here

Thanks for being part of the stream :)

randomphantom 2017-08-03 15:09

This was really beautiful. A bit weird and janky at parts, but the gameplay loop was cool. Hilarious stuff with the exploding S7s. Great sounds, great graphics, goes to show what a team can achieve in 72 hours, superb stuff. Only critique was a bug I found was when dying the BGM went off. Great game!

rarefactionq 2017-08-03 22:34

Super fun! I love the ragdoll animation on BatteryMan. It fits the feeling of him having giant muscles and tiny tiny legs. I couldn't find the 6th battery on the 3rd level.

blksocks 2017-08-04 00:37

Great stuff seriously

dragonzbw 2017-08-04 00:41

Oh its real good. And weird. I also could not find the 6th battery on the third level though. Aside from that, enjoyable, no issues. Solid graphics and sound.

mactinite 2017-08-04 00:48

Well done, the graphics look great and the sounds are good. Definitely has potential, I'm sure there are other puzzle/action mechanics you could incorporate.

bram-ve 2017-08-04 01:18

Thank you for all your kind words and feedback everyone, we really appreciate it! :)

kleinzach 2017-08-04 02:10

Excellent game. I really like your use of the theme and all of the voice work and sound effects. The structure of the game itself could use a little work I would, the repeating of areas multiple times just felt like it was padding the length without really doing much. I also really liked the spinning on batteries to charge them, It added a neat layer on top of the twin stick idea.

samhunny 2017-08-04 06:24

I was really disappointed that the game ran so slowly on my computer because I really, really loved it! Spinning around in circles was a fun mechanic because I usually play with my mouse during loading screens, so it was fun to do something to charge the pillars rather than just sit on top! Excellent idea!!! And the zombified smart device users? Omg~ Fantastic

emery 2017-08-04 11:03

This was such a fun and interesting game to play, i had a lot of fun, the graphics were amazing and the sound was amazing. Good Job

Pretty good!

sir-daniev 2017-08-07 00:57

A really cool game. Enjoyable from beginning to the end. Good Job. :)

kodiqi 2017-08-07 01:30

Pretty solid entry here. The prologue section felt odd to me with the lack of leg animation, getting caught on the text board, then floating into the battery... I guess this was for the story but it wasn't really clear to me. Maybe you could do comic style panels to tell the story instead? I think it would fit well with the theme of the game.

Anyway, once starting the game proper the graphics, as well as the character floating (instead of leg animations), worked much better from the top-down POV. Charging up the batteries while stunning/killing/avoiding enemies works (it's a tried and tested mechanic), while having to balance your energy keeps you thinking. It led to me kiting enemies around mostly then zapping them in big bunches, often as I simultaneously spun around to activate the generators (having to spin around with the mouse was a fun touch).

Sound really was fantastic, great music loop and the voice-overs added some humor (lol @ exploding Galaxy Notes). Having to repeat levels isn't ideal, I get that it was to extend play time but I think just having more levels would be the better option going forward (it was fine and made sense for the jam release though). Hiding the generator behind the house on the third level was awkward though, mainly because getting to it was hit & miss and enemies just got stuck on the other side of it. A lot of people have gone with the use of batteries as an interpretation of the theme this jam but I like that you fully committed to doing so, extending it to your character, visuals, story, etc. Yeah, this one was a lot of fun.

ava-skoog 2017-08-07 07:05

This is such a great entry. Watched it on @togis's stream a few days ago and now I finally got around to playing it myself. Like I said in the Twitch chat, the music is great, and the spinning reminded me of the rhythm game osu!, heh.

It's all around a polished, nicely packaged experience with lots of humour and charm in addition to exciting gameplay. The voices are hilarious and so are the hordes of phone/tablet zombies. It also struck me as amusing that the main character can look in any direction no matter the direction of movement~

I'm usually quite constructive about my comments on LD games, but it's difficult to nitpick a lot on this one. I don't really have any complaints and pretty much every aspect of the game deserves equal praise. Really good job to everyone involved!

cttfow 2017-08-07 14:03

I'm really glad I gave it a shot, the graphics are amazing and the game worked very well! I had difficulties finding the 2 remaining batteries, but maybe I was just being blind. This is one of the rare games where all things - the game mechanics, visuals, sounds - work excellently. I, too, wish that there had been background story for the main superhero, but I also liked the beginning you already had there! Great job!

schu 2017-08-09 00:22

Really nice work! Feels like a pretty complete game. The graphics are nice and the sounds are great but sometimes a bit repetitive. I didn't like having to redo the same areas several times, but a completely understandable decision considering the short development time.

2017-08-09 19:21

This was really fun and kinda cartoonishly cute. Its always nice to have a game that quickly sets the stage with a short little story. The enemies felt very on point and super accurate to the times we live in today. As a bunch of technology addicted zombies that crave power to play on their smartphones. Etc.

I don't have a lot of specific feedback for this one. It feels super solid and like a more or less complete game. The only thing I can think of would be to add some more variation in the enemy's appearance. Like a crab walking/spider looking creature that used to be a power in a power chair could be fun.

I would say you should definitely expand this game a bit with more story and more levels. It's got just the right amount of cartoonish humor, a fun zappy superhero, and simplistic graphics.

prodigalson 2017-08-10 03:50

Those fools! I am trying to save them by giving them power but they want to take it away from me. Can't they see their foolish ways!? lol This was fun to play and it had just enough silliness to enjoy without going overboard. Not sure if the sure if the explosions of the red ones did anything to me if I was too close though. :)

simonhutchinson 2017-08-14 11:17

Very cool. This is super slick for 72 hours! I love the graphics and character design (oversized upper bodies are the best. On top of that you've done a great job with sound and music, not to mention the fact that you've also got voice acting going on here!

Really nice work.

indiealchemist 2017-08-18 15:22

Awesome job in 72h! Wow! Feels like a complete game. Had a good time playing it! Great work!
