AGAINST GREED by shackra 2017-12-06T09:47:52Z

@blinkeye thanks for your kind review!

I did some polishing on the game but I still need to pin the difficulty on the sweet spot as in now the game is still really hard to play as you mention.

Thank you, @skyward!

The Legend of the Bikini Armor by Sun-Wukong 2017-12-18T04:54:12Z

The luring is good xD, the graphics are okay but I would love at least some music between scenes. I really liked the dialogs and specially the reference to Super Mario Bros.

Please, *do not* convert this game in some sort of Manyuu Hikenchou, despite she having a nice body, I do not get the feel this game matches the theme of this Ludum Dare.

Fox Flares by aeveis 2017-12-18T04:36:02Z

I really liked the game graphics and the audio along with the music, everything fits perfectly. The game is *hard* but not that hard to become impossible. Good job!

And yeah, that level 7 is a PITA jaja

@FireHawk thank for your review, I will check your game and provide the corresponding feedback late today!

I also updated the game fixing some bugs and adding feedback to the player, so you may want to check again if you have time :)

(All devs cries during LDJAM, am I right or is just me? :P)

Thanks for your reviews @blushine, @team-infernus and @jeffchen.

On the begin I wanted to use the same controls for both sides of the screen, but I didn't see the challenge for the player. I may create a branch and test some of what you guys said.

SKYWOOOD PIER by designernap 2018-05-02T00:08:58Z

Really relaxing game, despite the fact the entire level will disappear if you don´t move :D.

This game will make you reflect about life (if you are on the mood for that).

I enjoyed a lot.

Neko Drift! by BluShine 2018-05-02T00:47:11Z

On the original game, the driving controls are a little hard to master indeed. I really liked the combination of game genres and how the cats pose a thread to the player has he commits mistakes about placing the towers.

FPS - Fugly Puzzle Shooter by Fedor 2018-05-02T01:30:07Z

Not bad, I would add sound effects first and then music to improve the experience.

YOU LEFT ME. by Angela He 2018-04-26T03:35:07Z

An excellent selection of music and original graphics that extends into the field of art, like as you were being tickled by Salvador Dali's mustache actually, makes this game incredible attractive and sets the mood for the thematic intended to be discuss.

In my opinion, this game did not make it well regarding the theme for this LDJAM 41, unless of course, life and death were the incompatible things intended in this game to be mixed.

Engine in Shadow by visumecadroide 2018-05-01T23:44:18Z

A very interesting concept and executed with simplicity, my only objections would be the controls for controlling the car with the XBox controller are non-traditional, also, the sudden stops when pressing the A button is another downside of the game.

Check, Please! by swav_gav 2018-04-26T04:11:48Z

A short game with a very clear objective: make you forget your last embarrassing date! :P

For a title that selected a nice song for ambience, it was sad to see it have no sound effects whatsoever.

It seems to me that in this game there is no loss condition, which for a physics-based dating-sim is not a requirement as the fun and the challenge of the game relays on the manipulation of the environment.

Tennis Hero by JeffChen 2018-04-26T03:58:28Z

A very satisfying game both in its simple core mechanics and stunning use of light which reminds us that sometimes your game do not need to like rendered on the Fox Engine in order to be fantastic.

Given the way enemies were eliminated during the game, I adventure myself to say that this was indeed a combinations genres as described in the game's description: Bullet Hell, Tennis and Block Breaker.

The explanation of the controls were put inside the game, which was kind of surprise given the quantity of titles for this LDJAM 41 tends to leave this aspect of their games outside the feature list or "hidden" behind a "help" button or YouTube video showcasing game play.

Thanks for adding censor as an option in your game.

Friends of Rose by Ripter 2018-04-25T05:22:06Z

TNT and Run or Die were fantastic levels, however, I did not enjoyed the level with the song that says "those lovely people" as I was getting the game over screen for no apparent reason whatsoever.

The controls should be changed to WASD instead of ASD and switch the "go down" mechanic to S-S instead of S+SPACE BAR, and change the attack buttons to something more comfortable to the player, like J and L.

Beat'em Art by FireHawk 2018-04-25T03:53:59Z

My main concern with the game is the lack of sound effects, they provide a feedback to the player when they perform an action in a game and not having them affects drastically the experience they perceive. Second concern I have is how "hidden" the instructions are from the player, if your player does not know what they are expected to do and how they should do it they may quite faster that you can say LDJAM; you need to protect the player from himself by posing an structure that ensures they understands what are they are supposed to do and what is the end goal, for instance, instructions at the begin of the game or better yet a "reduced" experience where they safely can discover the mechanics of your game (but without making a boring tutorial, that is).

Ball-dash Arcade by Craig a 2018-04-25T04:30:23Z

This game has potential. I had issues with my generic XBox 360 controller during my game-play but was Steams' Big Picture fault. I would like to note that some of your player may have a disadvantage trying to identify the "target to be capture"; sort of speak. This issue may happens also when getting the ball in your slimey hand, the place to go with the ball is implicitly given as "down", as the player went up the stage to pick it –and no "you win" billboards appeared– but then you are at the bottom of the level and nothing seems to happen until you move towards the thing that have fire in it (which will turn your character in the color of your opponent, a nice joke).

So, my advice is "be clear with the player", if both players stay on the bottom level of the stage for too long you should make appear some visual aid about where they should go (up, for the ball in this case (I ended smashing buttons at the bottom of the level thinking the slime will throw the ball and score a touchdown or something)) and once they got the ball it seems like a good idea to tell them where they should go with it (near the torch thing?), but avoid babysitting the player, once the core mechanics of your game are explained those visual aids can go away.

One could say "Well, I had this YouTube video where it shows the core mechanics so the players could grasp what it was about and how it had to be play" and I would say "fair enough", but we should avoid this line of thinking because one ends assuming all people will follow certain steps to gain the knowledge about how the game works, such assumption will backfire most of the time and is a risk not worth taking, thus, some explanation about the core mechanics of the game should exists somewhere and should be shared with the player in such a way he cannot omit by accident seeing them, for your particular case, this could go right when the game is matching the player with another player.
