oh. Very good game! A lucky entry! I'm making videos for this YT channel, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2YCW5s25G3r600RbE-hgTA . Can i find your game also on indiexpo website? We are linked with it. I will be very happy to include your game in the next videos!!
Wow really unique gameplay i like it. But the music and atmosphere is the real banger of this game. Good job!
Love the Snake with multiple heads vibe. Really fits the them, it took me a few tries to get a hang of controlling the vine growth, but it was very satisfying when I did.
Awesome gameplay and great vibes!
The sound and music are perfect, the graphics look like they could have come directly out of a Metroid-era NES. The concept is very interesting although controlling multiple vines seemed too difficult to be worth it.
Audio and art were fantastic! Mood was great too. I found the gameplay to be a little difficult and it wasn't immediately clear to me how to control the vine growth. Overall great entry
Really cool concept although one complain I have is that the vines are very hard to control since they don't seem to respond until a few 'steps' later.
Once you get going this becomes very addictive in the same way Tetris is. Honestly, this is a cool core gameplay loop and I think you could develop this a lot further into something truly special. A few more power ups, some more telegraphing of the timing aspect of turning, a quicker restart mechanic, and this could become something really addictive.
Maybe having the option to turn each vine separately would be good too, like swap between this with a click or another button. That would make keeping multiple vines alive at a time maybe a bit more manageable. Worth experimenting with, but I think it's already fun the way it is and implementing something like that could be risky, but I think it's worth testing.
When the music started to get going the whole game became very addictive, it almost felt like a rhythm game. In fact if you had other levels with different bass drum patterns where the growing was still tied to BPM of the kick drum similar to how it is here that would be cool. As it is currently it felt like the vine's "heartbeat" or whatever.
There's even a cool kind of underlying mystery to this game. What is the tree? Is dangerous to humans? What are the power ups and why are they there in the base? What are the hazards for the vine and why are they there? Was this vine a kind of experiment or something? All of these are really fun to think about.
Awesome entry, one of my favourites so far for sure. That musis is great by the way, I hope you release it separately. The audio over all is very fun in this one.
PS: Rad Mars is a fantastic team name.
Snake on steroids. :muscle: :snake:
Timing the direction changes took some getting used to for me, likely becaus of the delayed execution of inputs. Though the auditive feedback is well used in concept, a bit of tweaking could do wonders here.
Lovely visuals and a kickass soundtrack that compliment each other well. Would grow again!
WOOAHH! That pixel art is awesome! :open_mouth: I like the music and the sound when the root expand! Great Jobu!
Very cool game with great-looking art. I felt that it was a little difficult to tell when I had rotated the vine, timing by button presses took some getting used to. A small change that you could add later if you wanted to improve it would be a directional indicator that was always in the cells that were about to grow, which changed directions when you pressed the keys.
Great game. I loved how the audio synched with the growth of the "plant". Graphics were awesome, too. I love that arterial look that the vines have. Awesome job.
Awesome! One of the best jam games I've played.
I generally don't like rhythmic games. But that one was very simple, with nice vibes.
The art and sound on this is seriously cool.
really fun to manage the split vines too1
The title screen got me in, was a little hard to get a hang of the controls. The sound gets a little harsh since its pretty unbalanced. maybe turn the vine death sound down a bit?
Very nice. The graphics are amazing. I love the background and the vines. Controlling the direction is a bit tricky and it was simpler for me avoiding the splitting altogether. Don't know if this was intended.
Good job overall!
Great! music, graphics - everything! Especially I liked the thing that made my plant double!
This was really nice and fairly addictive. One thing I would have enjoyed would be making progression more rewarding. The difficulty was pretty balanced, but I had no indication of how well I did between each playthrough. That said, it was fun just trying to stay alive :D
Really loved the music, it would be cool if you could accelerate the wine by pressing W for example. Also it's strange that the game ends when you are in the middle of a level. Definitely need some proper epilogue, like thorn free zone and animation of wine sprouting into a beautiful / sinister tree enveloping the whole planet, universe, whatever.
Looks good and plays ok. Would be better if the game could show in which directions vines are growing atm
