Really cool concept! Some controls could be improved, like moving your own position - but that's a whole other topic in VR in itself and this is certainly plenty impressive for a weekend jam. :)
Really like the theme and the presentation and would love to see this explored further. UI was easy to read and navigate and the scope of the project is really impressive for a jam game.
Awesome concept, great overall game - one of the best i've tested so far. mechanics make sense, mood is fitting, theme hit with innovation. thanks for that! i thin this could become a really cool full game!
Snake on steroids. :muscle: :snake:
Timing the direction changes took some getting used to for me, likely becaus of the delayed execution of inputs. Though the auditive feedback is well used in concept, a bit of tweaking could do wonders here.
Lovely visuals and a kickass soundtrack that compliment each other well. Would grow again!
Greatest underwater based cult simulator out there! Fishnap and sacrifice younglings so your dark garden of terror may grow eternally. :fish: :knife:
Cute bubbles included!
really liked the intro :D the game was fun too, I especially liked the side effects, gave the game a little variation.
pretty cool concept worth following up on. player animation needs work - much better than i could do it though. escape to cancel skillnot working, which is really annoying. i almost died having to read all the text
nice take in general. got boring quickly but has potential for expansion!
complete game, really good job in the available time! topic was smart and fitting. did not really "grab" me, but very positive impression.
was a great experience! not my kind of game really, but i enjoyed the brilliant mood, the concept is great and worth expanding on. audio is superb.
saw your game on stream at https://www.twitch.tv/jer_re . played and found it to be a really special stand-out concept and audio execution. the overall system is a bit hard to grasp, but that's the natural downside of innovation, right! good job!
nice work on doing this alone!
initially looked cool. no sound and no music is weird for a party game. idea pretty cool. mechanisms chaotic. 1 is too many, 0 is too few hostesses etc. not really playable, sorry
Had several people stuck at the entrance and managing everyones blood alcohol level escalates rather quickly, at least I didn't manage to make it all trough the night, but perhaps I'm just at caring for dancing alcoholics. - Certainly digging the concept and the use of the jam's theme.
congrats on delivering something that has a core-loop worth expanding on!
weird little game that actually got me hooked for 3 attempts... could not keep it alive. SAD ;) love color play. love the messages/thoughts.
loved it, really did. first i thought it'd be clicker heroes, then it was pure fun and my brain turned to mush
hey - this should get you over 20 ratings! was a bit hard to play - i had to reload every time, but you completed something, which is pretty cool to do all alone. gj! happy if you rate back!
Hey @lucascampos - we will try. Will install the compiler and see if it works. Will update you! really sorry, but i can't get the web think to work well enough so far.. :(
thanks for all the nice feedback folks! we will update the game after the judging period and take your great constructive criticism to heart and improve!
@lucascampos (and all) . finally got the unity webGL build done. You can find it here: https://aed.itsatony.com/ Performance is not ideal, but hey, better than nothing! Hope you enjoy!
@karenin-dmitry thanks for the feedback! the mouse action is a "last resort" for otherwise almost impossible chasms. you can only "survive" sending your spark out (left mouse) when you target a tree.
abyss at the beginning: left is death (hence the "Don't" storypoint ;) .. was meant as a joke.. not working well i guess ehehe). to the right, you go down a lot, but that's the "right" way ..
it's a huge level and - as @wans24 pointed out correctly (thanks for that idea, will add it), we should have added checkpoints. it's just that with the limited time, we wanted to see if anybody was able to complete the whole level without that feature.
and .. YES, the pause menu was a very under-time-pressure thing we added and it's very much lacking. will be fixed after LD judging is over.
great feedback from everyone btw - we love this event and the community! it's been a blast taking part for the first time and making our first game!
oh, and the jumping from steep slopes: yeah, that's actually been quite a nightmare to code to be honest. with all the velocity and angular momentum that comes from basic running and jumping (especially with varying burn-rates) slopes have a pretty dramatic effect (especially downward) and lead to almost constant "falling" which, in our case, prevents jumping (double-jumps and wall-jumps were not planned for the early game). Hence, we added additional forces to bring down Áed (the character) when moving along slopes, basically glueing it to the ground and releasing the "glue" whenever Jump is pressed. That kinda works, but i would have needed another few hours to make it feel better and work dynamically based on current velocity. Certainly something we will improve on for the full game to be released. (and.. as novices in game development, we learned the hard way why basically all platformers use STRAIGHT ground and platforms for most of the game ;) ... it's really easy to overlook the added complexity from what our gfx and game-designers wanted here :D ... [and .. i have not been able to find a good tutorial on that topic .. how about one @brackeys?]
thanks @linus - fully agree with you on the jump! will improve it and it's really hard not to submit a "fixed" version now :)
@despdair @fabian-g @natasza thanks for the feedback! The html/webGL version is laggy. The PC version is fine as far as we can judge. The level is probably just too big for the browser - sorry about that.
much appreciated @wans24 - nice idea to collect personal favorites too!
@fatpenguin thanks so much for your kind AND constructive feedback, much appreciated! 6 weeks is true and all, but of course I am an experienced overall developer (no c# before though) and the artist is also really experienced. But Unity and the great community around game-dev overall make learning super easy and events like LD make it all worth the invested spare time. A dream to build something others enjoy :)
thanks @generictoast ! yeah, you are right but i think we would need to significantly change game content to optimize the web version and that kinda feels like cheating before ld-scoring ends. The level is just HUGE and it seems that's a no-go for the web version (many many gameobjects, colliders, animations, particles, ...).
Love the idea of Bigfoot actively keeping its own myth alive and the gameplay worked really well with it.
Fun game! :)
nice mechanics. honestly a bit hard for an old man :) . different colors for dfg would be nice maybe even different sounds. i think it's worth expanding on the overall concept, gj!
really atmospheric, kinda reminded me of Journey. the end made me chuckle :) loved it! close to the top this jam for me so far!
all alone is hard and it's a game :)
excellent mood. music and gfx not self-made (understandable since this is already impressive for you being solo) means mood and overall score gets a bit lower. nice elevator mechanic, loved the voice acting!
great game. i love the art, the light (mostly at the beginning), and the audio is top notch - too bad you didnt make that yourself, would have pushed the rating even a bit more. the "puzzles" and gameplay show a lot of potential, but (certainly due to time) i was waiting for more mechanics and ways to play. still an awesome submission. please make it a full game (as hinted at the end).
i liked the music and base concept of the game. the rest was not great yet, but i think it has potential and you're a champ for completing a game in time! thanks for your effort!
thanks for the game! shooting in v1 was horrible, but overall you hit the theme and the game actually made me want to find that yellow crystal! well done!
@chironyx really sorry that it doesnt work for you. could you send a screenshot? did you click on the text/button? did you try the web version or the windows version? in general, network should not be needed - we're not sending analytics data or anything like that (didnt have time :) ).
@mlkvr thanks for your kind words! making all of this was a little over-ambitious in the end. we really went into crazy time-trouble in the end.. loads of small things like the glyph-names just couldnt be completed. we couldnt complete AIs for 3 additional enemies we had made art for.
@ohmikron thank you! yeah, it actually is a mix of unpolished and the idea to overwhelm and confuse in this "nightmare-setting". had to cut lots of corners in the final hours, but that's the fun in jams, right? ;)
@thementalsheep thank you! the artist @harlequinsden did an amazing job. he had even more enemies ready, but we didnt manage to put all his content in. we will deliver an update independent from the gamejam entry next weekend.
@mudlee you're absolutely right - the submitted state is quite overwhelming for the player. sadly, we didn't manage to get tooltips and the planned tutorial done before the deadline...
gfx and gfx options are great. music somehow didnt match really i felt. controls were kind of iffy. i did not really manage to feel like i was in control of the character. the "panic" to escape the boss was there and i think with a bit of polishing of the controls this game has a lot of fun-potential!
Hey @syvyys, great atmosphere, well-fitting music and art. really had trouble getting it going since my Z is Y :D ... first "boss" on 3rd is cool, intro was really nice. not my type of artstyle usually, but in itself really consistent, and brilliantly animated. congrats!
@rxbbie thx for the feedback! Absolutely right that we needed more "specials" ... we had weapon upgrades, building planetary auto-turrets, non-linear approaches, escape-ship escorting, tractor beams etc on the list... just too slow.. anywys, thanks so much for beating my score and playing and participating!
