Very interesting concept. Movement being so choppy and quick kind of made it annoying to try to warp out of danger in the last minute. Definitely a neat concept and an interesting take on pacman.

that cover picture is haunting

Very interesting concept, the gameplay is a little strange though. Also, amazing cover image!

where is the source code?

p-r 2020-04-20 14:09

@Sode, check the link, there's an option on gamejolt to download the zip file with the source ;)

This game is definitely memorable. I was confused at first, and kept looking around for what I was supposed to do, but all it said was "Mr. Yellow needs your help." I did eventually figure it out, but it felt so cryptic, like I had stumbled upon a creepypasta game or something. Definitely a gaming experience I won't forget any time soon. As for the game itself, it is incredibly unique. I've never played anything like it. But, anyway, nice work, congrats on finishing.

The image you made for the game's cover art is definitely a masterpiece. One of the greats. It belongs in a museum. Hahahaaaa, i wish the art made it's way into the actual game, but hey-

Interesting take on the genre. You've got so little control it sort of felt like a slot machine at times.

adonisdevs 2020-04-26 17:20

This was a very interesting concept! Well done :)

Is the movement completely random? I think the strategy is to try to teleport to a point where your movement is limited so you have more chances to go to the desired direction right? I think the health bar was too big and made the game a little repetitive since it didn't had a score or something else to make a progression system.

This seems like an interesting concept, but I found the controls frustrating - I couldn't figure out exactly how Mr. Yellow decided which way to go after a teleport, which made it hard to get things done. I also often found myself clicking and having nothing happen or having Mr. Yellow come out an adjacent square to where I'd intended - something might be weird about how mouse positions are rounded to game positions. Nonetheless, I found myself becoming really invested and managed to beat it after two nerve-racking runs. Sad that Mr. Yellow's planet and people weren't saved, though.

The gameplay loop was surprisingly addictive. Getting a dot felt rewarding, and I don't know if I attribute that to the sound effect or just the feeling of seeing the dot disappear and another one spawned. The movement was so random that getting hit felt unfair and getting the dot did not feel like a reward for skill. It's fun and you can certainly keep going with it, the fact that at least one person found the loop addictive means you could be on to something. Note: in reflection, the simplicity of just clicking around is probably what makes it so addicting -- it really is mindless to play. I'll only add that the clicks seem to register a little to the left of where you want them to.

The cover art definitely captivated me. I couldn't quite figure out how the movement worked in order to strategize my teleports though. I found myself teleporting near a blue dot hoping I'd get lucky and hit it. I get that he bounces off of walls but it wasn't clear to me how. Somehow it still managed to captivate me though.

thanks for all the feedback, i'm taking note of all your suggestions for post compo

regarding movement, it is indeed random.

keanutah 2020-04-27 20:57

Oddly compelling honestly. It was hard to account for the enemies though, since you don't really know how mr yellow is going to move when you teleport. Since, I enjoyed this! Nice work.

I love the arcade feel of the game and intuitiveness of the game! The graphics were nice and simple. I did not really like the player movement because it seemed the teleportation was random. In fact You did not even have to teleport Mr. Yellow because the enemies rarely hit Mr. Yellow. You do not really interact with the game making it sort of boring. never the less good job, and keep it up!

Nice little game. I really enjoyed the randomness of it all. I didn't figure out until the end that the white line is how many blue orbs you need to collect.
