The Storm by NvrSkipGameDay 2020-04-27T21:26:13Z
Hi, I did not undestand the game really. The art design was cool.

Hi, I did not undestand the game really. The art design was cool.
Pretty nice puzzles. Nice entry!
Fun game!!!. Need some polish... it was fun the nuke mechanics.
Nice game. I liked the idea; I think everyone has played in real life the game of not letting the balloon touch the floor. It is a challenging game. Some improvements: background music, to have a better atmosphere. The balloon could have been more rounded. Other than that, it is a very nice entry, good childhood memories (yeah, I'm old, so I had to play with what I had at hand :P).
Nice concept!. I missed the sound. It is a challenging game to play. I had problems with the jar that got stuck inside the sink more than a few times. I liked the low poly graphics. Nice entry!
The game is really polished. I liked the splash screen, menus etcetera. I played the original version, by trial and error, I was able to figure out the amount of immunity level that I needed. It is challenging enough. Nice job!.
A keep them alive game!!!. Nice mechanics, cool atmosphere, and music. Hard too!!!. Maybe higher resolution settings for the short-sighted older people could be an improvement. Nice work!!
Plain and simple. The problem is that I caused a lot of tunneling effects, meaning I went through the walls :(, but despite this is fun tu play. Congrats. Check our game too :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/and-weep-above-an-endless-grave
First, at all, let me congratulate you as a fellow engine developer for coding this in C++ from scratch; that's a challenge by itself. The UI was good, and gameplay too. It was a fun retro game. Very nice work!!!
The music is so relaxing; it feels nice to play and relax. It's intuitive to understand what to do. The game difficulty is ok. The procedurally generated levels are cool because it gives you repeatability.
What I really like about this game is that it gives me a happy mood when I'm playing it, I don't care about winning or losing. Really nice work!.
You got me laughing with this game. It is hard to keep the baby alive... I ended up using my left hand with the arrow keys and the right one with the mouse. Maybe the cars could have kept the same drawing style. Congrats!.
@whynotyt my old brick phone you mean :joy:
Nice concept. I enjoyed the water system, I was like Oooohhh shh**t I have to hurry, or the plant dies. I would have liked more levels. Nice pixel art. Another thing to improve is to add some sounds to make it more immersive. Nice work!.
Loved the music. Nice game, I makes you want to party :P
Cool idea, but I couldn't fully enjoy it because of the bugs. There was no music or sound either. I liked the low poly graphics. You should definitely fix the bugs and add some sounds ;D. Good work!

We all slept like 3 hours
Thank you very much for your comment. We agree with you about the environmental detail. There is so much you can do in 72 hours, U.U. We will polish the levels with time because we enjoyed the jam (our first) and want to improve... About the slowness of the girl, it was intended (imagine testing that girl over and over :P), but of course, it is a game design parameter that needs to be balanced out with the opinion of you guys, the players. So again, thank you for the feedback.
Thank you for your comments. We will take into consideration about the last level, I think we can add some clues of how to solve the puzzle to make it more fun ;D.
Thank you, @justcamh!. We loved your review. Yes!, the characters knew each other; there is an implied story between them. We know we failed with the lighting of the levels.
We believe that games should bring out emotions, so we tried to reflect that with the atmosphere (sound and art), and frustration ;D. We decided to give the players something different, but within 72 hours, U.U. Of course, the level design could have been improved, and for the next jam we will have in consideration all the reviews that you guys give us. Thank you very much.
Thank you very much for your review. We definitely will improve for our next jam ;D.
Thank you for playing our game!!!. It is a nice feeling watching other people play the game. We will definitively take into account your suggestion. :D
Thanks to all the people that voted and reviewed our game. See you on the next Ludum Dare!!!
Fun game. I missed some background music. The graphics were simple, but at the same time, nice. It was a little bit hard to control the robot, but I think that was intended. Nice job!
Fun game, hard too. The controls need a little bit of work maybe, sometimes the wall jump is not that responsive so I end up dying U.U. Congrats!!!
For me, it is a good game. I love puzzle games. The art and the music are so cool, like an old NES game. One thing that is my opinion of course, is that the battle with the bats should be something like turn based so that the game only focus on puzzle solving and not on hand coordination skills. Very nice submission.
The game looks polish, the UI fits with the graphics perfectly. The music and sound are aligned with the old school graphics. The in-game instructions are a very nice touch. I don't like tutorials in games. It is not an easy game, and for me that is a plus. The weather is a nice touch, it makes it stand out of just beign a simple try to find balance game. And of course the people too.
About the graphics, there is some horizontal misalignment of the structures, but if I were to guess must be because of the rotation of sprites and the rendering order. The full screen is a little pixelated, but that is just a detail that of course can be fixed with more time.
I know that is difficult to code and fine tune a physics based game, and for that you did a great job. I could go on so more, if you want you can pm me. This entry is in my top 10 for this ludum dare. Congratulations!
Fun game. I liked that there is a tutorial, but at first, I did not understand how to prevent the Huns to flip the middle table. I could not find a pause menu in the middle of the game. The other thing the game could have used a piece of background music to give a more fun vibe. I enjoyed playing the game, it kept me laser focus to keep the customers drunk :P.
Nice game. In my humble opinion the only issue that I found since it is kind of a puzzle game is that you can brute force the solution if you have the memory to recall the order of ingredients.
Interesting entry. It is an engaging game. The music and the sense of urgency kind of make you be focused on the game. I found it a bit hard, especially when you have to jump to get the claw. Not that this is a bad thing. The instructions were easy to follow. Overall very polished game for a jam, the only thing (like in my case) was that the UI was not polished. Nice job!!!
Nice game!. Very difficult to play and for me, that is always good. One consideration could be to think of a solution for the RNG because even if one gets good at the game the randomness is too high. Still, I enjoyed it a lot, great work.
Nice pixel art. There is a bug I think, because I can go outside the room for some reason.
Thank you. We tried to aim so that the rules of the game were presented in the early levels by discovering them. Of course, we can do better but the lack of sleep and too much caffeine didn't help :P.
thank you @slimmerburger @masterfulmonkey @not-tomo @transylvanian-blacksmiths. All the feedback is welcome. We wanted to finish the UI, but we ran out of coffee :P.
@rookrules with @almagor, we enjoyed watching you suffer while solving the puzzles :P @albyk, @edevjogos, @lucasglass thank you for taking the time to understand the rules. One thing we acknowledge is that the difficulty increases too fast (in our opinion, of course). Thank you all!!!.
@bluishgreenpro first of all, thank you for the interview and playing our game. We are aware of this issue. We want to develop an off Ludum dare 49 version introducing these types of levels. For the Ludum dare, we built the game from scratch, so we ran out of time to test the balance of the learning curve. Thank you again for the feedback, we appreciated it a lot.
@python-b5 Thank you for the feedback. We did not use a tutorial on purpose, the concept behind is that the player figures the rules out. Still, we know that the levels scaled in difficulty too fast, but as I said before we did not have enough time to do the fine-tuning in terms of difficulty balance. We want to publish an extended version that does a better job at this. About the theme, the idea was that if you made mistakes under the rules of "shells cloning" then you will start to have more turtles on your puzzle and therefore the solution will become more stochastic and therefore unstable. Again we are very pleased that you liked it, and for the next jam, we will try to take all feedback that we have received and improve the way that we try to expose the ideas to the players.
@geckoo1337 thank you for playing the game. Even though we did not model the character and turtles, we try to come with a good color palette and post-processing effects to give this look and feel.
@hiisileiri Level 3: "crossroads" was supposed to introduce the cloning rule to the player. And then level 4 tried to solidify the concept. I think the levels are too tricky and so maybe the player can not focus on: "AAAA so the rule is this...(no spoiler :D)". And then from 5+ things get crazy. I hope you can give it a try again and maybe give us some more pointer on what you have issues with. Thank you very much for the feedback.
@hiisileiri thank you so much for the detailed feedback. @gamepopper we wanted to add the rotating animation, butwe ran into some weird bugs therefore we had to remove the feature. I see that the controls can be a little tricky, so thanks for the observation. When you test it so much, it becomes second nature, and then one can lose sight of what it feels if you are new to the game. Thank you a lot!!!.
Nice art style.
I like the idea, no time to stop and think!. Nicely done!.
Cool game. A little complicated at the start, but it was fun to solve the riddles and don't explode in the process :D
Mixing potions is always fun. One thing to consider, controls for left-handed users. Nice work!
Nice submission. It was easy to understand. I would have liked some background music. Good work!!!
I really liked the intro. Good old times xD.
Interesting The game becomes difficult as you progress. I don't know if this was a bug, but there was no music playing.
