I was stuck in the "Pass the river" level (I gonna try again later). The light system is wonderful and the sprites are very stylish. The power to pull boxes made me a little frustrated because I couldn't rotate my character. But I believe this is on purpose and I just haven't been able to get through yet. I really liked it, another one of Ludum dare 49 games for my coffee break.

For me, it is a good game. I love puzzle games. The art and the music are so cool, like an old NES game. One thing that is my opinion of course, is that the battle with the bats should be something like turn based so that the game only focus on puzzle solving and not on hand coordination skills. Very nice submission.

The game was nice, but I did not understand the last solution, because I needed to do something like pressing the 2 oppose keys quickly. If that is the solution then great!
I love the aesthetics of this game especially, FX and sprite work and all. The puzzles were really neat and I could easily see myself playing a couple hours worth of puzzles combined when the light enemy fighting, definitely had a nice feel. The river puzzle confused me at first until about 10 minutes later I realized you can shoot at the rooted one way path you made to reset it, maybe stuff like that could be introduced in a level prior (or maybe I missed that, unsure). Overall love this game man, and it's a SUPER solid mechanic and game all around.

There is a bug that causes moved objects to leave behind a collidable area. Seems to happen almost randomly, but it did happen to me a few times.
I love the lighting and the combination of moving blocks. very good entry
The way the player sprite changes in dark vs light areas is really clever and communicates the difference well. You did a great job of easing the player into learning the mechanics! There were a few times where the character was lit up even though the candle glows didn't look like they were intersecting with me, tweaking the hitboxes or increasing the size of the glow by a pixel or two might make that feel a bit more predictable.

Enjoyable mechanics, I really liked the river level. Great starting levels to learn the mechanics, time flew. The walking sound was a bit loud, the rest felt in place. Neat little animations on the mage.

A really well made puzzle game. There are a lot of mechanics here at play and the design is very intelligent. With just a few more mechanics there is enough here to make a full length puzzle game.
Unstable?
@fabioecco 1) Candle light is unstable 2) Things unstable and changes between lightness and darkness.
Cool art and the candle mechanic is really great, i just had trouble to figure out "wind put out the candle" and when i figure it out it make me feel like the solution not fit to the mechanics but it could make a cool polish puzzle game
Very cool game. I think that undo function would be very useful.

Really interesting game. Graphics are very good and i like the puzzles very much. Just can't see how the game fits the theme. But is a really good job and i see so much potential in this game. Thanks for share your game!
Very cute game and I like the variety of the mechanics in the different rooms. Stuck at pass the river as well. I feel like I know the solution because it worked with one of the candles but the other one is impossible to pull because the lil guy walks towards it too much when switching directions. Am I just too stupid? lol
The presentation is amazing with nice graphics. But I could not figure out how to pass the river. It was imposible to find any space to move the bottom candles. I cant use the anything along the back wall becuase I can only face right or left. So I dont know. Otherwise really good job.
The idea is good but unstability isn't apparent. Passing the river was hard due to technical issue. I had to do funny thing such as pressing left and right while trying to pull a candle to solve the puzzle. In next level after that, I can complete it with easy but it goes to black screen. That being said, it's good puzzle game but needs some tweaks.
I got stuck at passing the river but it is such a great game, the mechanics are interesting and the puzzles feel satisfying.
Very creative mechanic using the lights! We like how revealing a key using light is a very good puzzle mechanic. It would be nice if moving the candles was easier, but it makes sense why it is like that since the puzzle would be too easy if not. Great job!
Like a lot of people, we got stuck in Pass the River. Music was very nice, sound effects weren't too harsh (good job). Art style was adorable and very well made! These puzzles were super cool, I just wish we could've played more!
As many others, I got stuck on "Pass the river". Because whan I turned to pull the candle, I automatically made a step in this direction and then I was inside the light radius. The music matched the style of the game, but personally, I didn't like it so much.
Enougth of negative points, now to the pros: I like the art style. Simple, but adorable. And I liked the puzzles and the way you presented them. They were not to hard, but also not boring. Overall I good game, that I could image to play again.

The trick with "Pass the river" is that you can turn character at required direction while character moving from one cell to another. Then everything is technical: to pull two bottom candles, burn candle at opposite side and burn growing plants with fireball.

I enjoyed a lot the game, such cool aesthetics and gameplay, also im a huge fan of puzzle games, the sound and visual effects added a lot to the piece, also im a huge fan o pixelart games, almost all of mine are like this, my only complain is that i didn't saw how relates with the jam theme
@npr0nn Candle fire is unstable. And things at this game are unstable while lighting changes.
Nice puzzle game! Is there a level after level with the skeleton? I finished that one and the screen just went black. I wasn't sure if that was the end or if there was a problem.
Graphics were very neat and the transition between the light and dark areas was very well done. I enjoyed the movement and the puzzles, but I felt like the Cross the River solution was a little cheapened because it required using a mechanic that wasn't hinted at and I had no way of knowing existed. I don't think that knowing about it is a problem or removes the challenge of the puzzles at all and could have been explained, but I admit that would take away from the "learn through experimentation" thing you had going.
Very nice!
Really really lovely atmosphere. Gameplay might be a tad slow but that honestly just adds to the ambience. Great audio, simple but really effective graphics with those light effects going on. One of the best little games I've played so far, excellent stuff! :)
