Well done! It's a small game but it works! :D It is kinda hard to tell exactly how big the hitboxes are, but that's nitpicking, as I didn't encounter any issue with it. Congratulations on publishing your first game!

ashtheevil 2020-04-20 16:09

Instead of playing I kept trying to cheat, covering a plant by the leaf so that no meteorites can hit it. Didn't work) Nice game, congratulations with the first entry!

wikers 2020-04-20 16:12

Good game, the movement of the camera when the asteroid impact it's nice. i think it was better if the earth rotate from his center instead use the plant like the center Good job

cjm 2020-04-20 16:13

Nice game! I might suggest randomizing the meteors a bit more. It seemed to me that they came in the same pattern every game.

kdgame 2020-04-20 16:19

Thank you all for your advises and votes! I'm SO glad my game worked, I've been so nervous the whole morning trying to find bugs!

kdgame 2020-04-20 16:21

@ashtheevil Yeah I made the hit box just big enough to be playable and can not cover the whole plant!

drschizzo 2020-04-20 16:21

Very well done for a first participation. Everything works really well. I tried to cheat too like @ashtheevil but it did'nt work (well designed hit box! :) )

randi 2020-04-20 16:37

Really cute game! I like it!

laralama 2020-04-20 16:38

It's simple, but I like it. A little repetitive after awhile. And I find it a bit odd that everything revolves around the plant. But in itself: well done.

kdgame 2020-04-20 16:43

@laralama I tried to focus the camera at the earth, but that way you can barely see anything and it's impossible to play. So I made the camera follow the plant, and yes it looks like everything is revolving around the plant.

xpost2000 2020-04-20 17:22

Surprisingly polished for what it is, I can see this easily be addicting haha.

taffaz 2020-04-20 20:11

Nice and simple but fun. Graphics were good and had a consistent style.

lestat 2020-04-20 20:19

Simple and minimalistic. It fits the theme. Good job!

joelle 2020-04-20 23:24

simple yet fun! it would be nice if the cursor rotates with the planet

batswinger 2020-04-21 00:40

Awesome game! Simple fun and addicting, congratulation on your first published game

pomo 2020-04-21 01:32

Much better to do something simple that's fun and nice than try to make something ambitious only to fail and end up making something bland or not finishing at all. Good Job!

witdarkstar 2020-04-21 04:20

Very simple, but effective. You do a good job with feedback every time you hit the meteors.

peterfiftyfour 2020-04-21 06:37

Nice! I like how the meteors looks like cookies haha. Simple concept but effective

chaseplays 2020-04-21 06:58

This was a really simple but fun game! The effect that happens when you stop meteors is so incredibly satisfying (the audio, screen shake, particles, etc.), and it made the game really addicting to play! The Earth blocking meteors and rotating was also a really cool and interesting concept. I got to around 50 seconds on my best run. Great work!

mrowka 2020-04-21 10:43

Simple but fun, great work!

mykola 2020-04-21 19:58

Very solid game for the first try on your own! Simple but complete. Gameplay is straight forward, art is on point, sound fits well and I really like how the soundtrack feels. Everything comes together very nicely. Great job and keep up the good work!

gamer-fates 2020-04-22 03:23

Good game. I believe you can win forever if you shake the mouse in front of the plant? However I got pretty far then gave up as it seemed like I wasn't in any danger.

prof-suarez 2020-04-22 03:26

This game is frustrating, but I must concede at how creative it is. Thank you for the experience, and make the vertical ratio bigger so I can see

justin-c 2020-04-22 03:48

Nice little game. It looks like you ran out of time for the art but what was finished looked really nice. The difficulty ramps up right away so I lost quickly the first couple attempts, but it made me want to keep trying. I think the should be centered on the planet rather than the plant, but I can see how view distance might have been what drove that decision, and I think it's a valid reason.

terribletriojoe 2020-04-22 04:18

This was really fun! I played it for quite a while.

alphazeba 2020-04-22 06:19

This is a very solid entry! Keep submitting to jams! I would suggest trying to invite a friend to join you in a future jam. Working with people has made my jamming experience even better

marbles 2020-04-22 06:39

Good job on your first jam! But the meteors are predictable, it will always come from the right, left, up, then down

kdgame 2020-04-23 02:20

@marbles Yeah I see, thank you. I don’t want to break the rules but is it ok to fix this after the submission?

guitarbro 2020-04-23 02:23

Lol, didn't expect the meteors to just fly in so fast. The audio combined with the timing and animations is quite comical together. Even though the game is really simple, it's actually kinda fun. Got me to retry a couple times.

If I could make one suggestion it would be to add a bit of variety though. Perhaps a powerup or something that helps you out? Would make it a bit more replayable.

emperor-eagle 2020-04-23 02:55

Simple and enjoyable! I think a good thing to add would be a score counter that gave you higher scores based on how early you destroyed the meteors. The game overall was very effective and fun to play! Nice job!

injured 2020-04-23 02:57

Excellent game to play on Earth Day! Simple concept - but for your first LD you knocked it out of the atmosphere. The asteroids are tough to block when they come from the north or south poles (of the screen) - maybe my reaction time needs work. Definitely a solid entry.

marbles 2020-04-23 03:25

@kdgame Well, according to the rules, you can only fix bugs

jamesolivermusic 2020-04-24 10:28

the graphics are nice. simplicity is great in these jams. I'm not sure why a leaf is a weapon against the meteors? the meteors themselves need to be more randomised as they can be quite predictable. more variety in the music and fx would be nice to avoid over repetition. i'm sure these things can be easily incorporated post-jam. well done with what you've achieved though.

emil0227 2020-04-25 00:51

Very interesting game, nice graphic!

sharks 2020-04-25 14:44

I really liked the pixel art and the overall satisfying feeling when you stop an asteroid, the particles, camera shake and sounds really make a great experience! Awesome first game!

eduardogacn 2020-04-28 02:37

simple but challenging game.

Nice job :dog:

savvu 2020-04-28 07:52

Great idea having a plant on top of the earth! I think that also gives a great message. This is also one of a few games I have seen that changed the mouse cursos to something unique to the game! Well done I really enjoyed it!

zebraatomica 2020-05-08 21:56

Really nice and challenging game! Would only do some work with the mouse icon and hitboxes, sometimes if felt like i should be hitting some meteors. Congratulations on you game!

groggi 2020-05-08 23:10

Really fun, fast paced and challenging! Maybe the game could be a little bit more forgiving, for example you could make it that the meteors really have to hit the plant, not just touch it. And to make it still challenging, the rotation could be around the planet, not the plant, so that the player would need lot more mouse movement to defend.

Loved the dancing plant animation ;)

nonumbersgames 2020-05-11 12:22

Fun and simple little game. Really nice work on the meteorite hits - they felt very well expressed with impactful sound and animations.

The idea of the planet revolving around the plant was somehow funny and resonated with me.

The hitboxes could have been a bit more forgiving, but its a minor nitpick. However, really wished there was some kind of progression - visibly increasing the number of meteors or their speed over time might have worked as an incentive to keep playing.

-------------------

Overall, it was enjoyable while it lasted. Even though there is not a lot of content, it is polished, making it satisfying to play.

invader 2020-05-11 16:33

For a moment I thought it is an idle game... But the stream of asteroids hitting the planet made me feel otherwise :) But I've died many times before I've figured it out.

Would be great to have more feedback on the protective leaf, to show that this thing is actually has some effect on an asteroid. It is not an easy guest - leaves are not the thing you think about to protect a planet from asteroids :)

astrosboy15 2020-05-12 02:05

I liked the game. It had a simple concept, but was well executed. The audio became a bit repetitive, but otherwise it was fun. Overall, good job!

drprettypatty 2020-05-12 03:02

nice job! it's better than my first jam game -- you did a really good job managing the scope imho. i liked the juice you put on the meteor impacts, and the fact that it's a fully functional game without bugs. keep at it!

ava-skoog 2020-05-12 18:43

Cutest little sprout ever! πŸ’šπŸŒ± Simple game but very effective with lots of personality from the adorable graphics and the dancing animation to the nice music and good choice of audio. A bunch of impacts could easily get very grating, but you chose quite a nice and muffled sound that's easy on the ears. Appreciate not having to click to fend the meteorites off. Feels relaxing and not at the same time, in a good way. Nice work!

literal-games 2020-05-12 19:55

Good work! I found it a bit tricky and I would like to see the theme of keeping a plant alive better integrated with the mechanics but it plays well. I really liked the audio too!

zenris 2020-05-12 19:59

Nice art, fun game play. Liked the animation on the plant.

It seemed like the meteors sometimes hit the plant, even then they look far enough away, might need to tweak the colliders a bit.

Simple concept, but works well.

kdgame 2020-05-12 20:07

Thank you all SOOOOO MUCH for your feed backs and rates! Before now I thought I won't even get to 30 votes, but at the end with all your supports, I almost reached 70 votes!:clap::clap:

Looking forward to the result that will be out in 4 hours!

EDIT: Oh wait it updated it's 76 now! πŸ˜…

jsmars 2020-05-12 21:46

Cool! It's simple but fun, and HARD, which is a good thing haha :D
