LD46 — Keep it alive

Trollwoods by zondarg 2020-04-20T15:27:35Z

Nice and simple resource gathering game. I agree with @drschizzo though that it would be better if you had like a mouse-look for lighting cause the 4 directional look makes a bit awkward and jarring to get the light where I want it to be. Very good graphics though, also it seems like the wood is limited and I believe it would better if it respawned. That may be intentional but then the game could be impossible if all the wood was used up. Good game though!

The Lost of Nix by Tygrak 2020-04-21T13:51:32Z

Ah I'm a sucker for turn-based RPGs so I very much enjoyed the combat in this game. Although the environment is a bit too quiet for my liking, although I suppose it fits the desolate wasteland sort of feel. Your music is pretty nice and oddly fitting over something that I initially thought should've been more atmospheric. The main gripe I have is that the game has a lack of feedback for many of the things I do, so I don't exactly know when my turn has been used up or not, but otherwise good game!

Keeping SNES Alive! by drludos 2020-04-21T13:21:00Z

I did not expect to see an entry for a retro console to appear. The collision is indeed a bit difficult to wrestle with, but I'm impressed it plays really well, looks good too, good job!

The Messenger Assist by graebor 2020-04-21T16:08:17Z

This is by far the most professional looking entry I've seen. It looks absolutely gorgeous although it's a really confusing game. It would work great as a mini-game in some bigger sci-fi game honestly. The entire thing is very very immersive compared to most of the other entries :)

Of The Dark by cogcomp 2020-04-20T17:55:13Z

Woah I am REALLY impressed you got this out, although the graphics are little disorienting for me, gives me a 90s RPG sort of vibe, and the game looks sick! Gameplay is hard as hell for me and the music is bit repetitive since it's the only sound in the game as far as I know. I think this should be continued and made into a fuller game though!

Rampage by PhilStrahl 2020-04-20T17:18:23Z

Cute art and a bit interesting. Although I wish the game was a bit longer, I believe you could've gotten a bit farther with this mechanic. Good game though Phil!

A Cold Walk Home by Stefanie Leitch 2020-04-20T15:08:51Z

This is a surprisingly good game. I also thought it was interesting that this was a mix between resource managing and real time gameplay. Except for the boar which was somewhat annoying ( probably cause there's little feedback on hitting something ), it was great. I almost wish it was longer!

2 Souls Together by Lestat 2020-04-21T01:24:32Z

The art style and the mood / feel given by the music and visuals were the most impressive parts of this game! The game is really repetitive and admittedly boring for the length it's supposed to be played, I believe if you made the dialog unfold like a sort of narrative it would've been much better. Well done though :)

Pyromania by Finnhax 2020-04-20T17:39:06Z

It's feels addictive as an idle game, and the fire is really cute. I feel like a bigger game could be made out of this in the future...

It's Just a Burning Memory by Kent Reese 2020-04-23T00:20:30Z

I very much like the ambience / atmosphere this game gives. Although the lack of lighting kind of kills it for me unfortunately, otherwise I really liked this entry short as it was :)

~~Idk if I'm doing something wrong but apparently I can't edit to add a link or something, here's a direct download link for windows https://github.com/Xpost2000/ludumdare-46-game/releases/download/1.0/windows-64bit-jam.zip.~~

Treewatcher by xpost2000 2020-04-20T13:20:34Z

crap those are errors for SDL2's external libraries. Thank you for telling me I'll do it right now!

Treewatcher by xpost2000 2020-04-20T13:22:47Z

Alright so anyone who tried earlier, I uploaded the missing external libraries for SDL2 image and SDL2 mixer. Should work now...

Don't use the direct download if you still see it! It holds the version with missing dlls. So sorry for the inconvenience.

Treewatcher by xpost2000 2020-04-20T13:31:19Z

In the event I somehow missed more dlls you can use the runtime binaries for the SDL2 libraries I used https://www.libsdl.org/projects/SDL_mixer/release/SDL2_mixer-2.0.4-win32-x64.zip https://www.libsdl.org/projects/SDL_ttf/release/SDL2_ttf-2.0.15-win32-x64.zip https://www.libsdl.org/projects/SDL_image/release/SDL2_image-2.0.5-win32-x64.zip

Treewatcher by xpost2000 2020-04-20T13:44:50Z

darn...... Hopefully this will be one of the last times... I don't have a secondary computer to test for missing dlls however so I'm hoping this is the last of it...... So so sorry!

Treewatcher by xpost2000 2020-04-20T15:02:59Z

Thank god it worked lol, and yeah I suck at music, thanks for the feedback man!

Treewatcher by xpost2000 2020-04-20T20:23:24Z

@nick-rafalski I suppose it was really unintuitive, but arrow keys move the selection, and left clicking will place them. Right clicking will remove them.

Treewatcher by xpost2000 2020-04-20T22:22:00Z

@zondarg ah I did intend to keep the entire game on one screen, although I really should've made the selection icons scroll down or something in the case you tried to put them down there thanks for playing!

A Case of the MOONDAYS by Dylan Pineo 2020-04-20T18:13:09Z

I agree with @antonis-koutsouradis, the gameplay is a bit lacking, although the visuals are great! I found the control being a mix between the keyboard and mouse a bit awkward though. Well done though :) However I don't exactly see how the game relates to the theme provided but that's not illegal haha.

Flora by LDF Productions 2020-04-21T00:59:41Z

I like the visuals and the audio design! It feels relatively polished and although the gameplay is very simple, it still seems to work extremely well, although maybe a bit too short. Otherwise excellent first entry!

Keep a Plant by KDgame 2020-04-20T17:22:57Z

Surprisingly polished for what it is, I can see this easily be addicting haha.

The Light Child by hulien22 2020-04-21T00:53:17Z

I thought it was really repetitive and a bit tedious because of the inability to hold multiple items resulting in me dragging the axe and orbs in separate little trips, but it certainly did build some suspense once the enemies started coming. Very good first entry! Shame about the lack of time for music though haha.

Letter to Thomas by LouieJams 2020-04-21T01:11:37Z

Woah! Despite the limitations of the pixel art the backgrounds are beautiful, and the game manages to feel really tranquil. For what is effectively a 2D walking simulator game it's written and made pretty well! I manage to soft-lock the game when attempting to walk back over the bridge and jumping though heh, although that's not the expected course of play. I would not mind a longer version of this game, and I feel like a voice over would've been effective for this type of game had there been time.

Captured by OtisDev 2020-04-19T18:10:11Z

I think the idea of a on-rails shooter is pretty nice, although it's a bit slow-paced for my liking. There's also a slight inaccuracy on the crosshair. The source code link on itch.io only gives the solution though, you probably want to just zip up your project directory and send that instead.

Nemysis by Crispy Chicken 2020-04-20T18:40:10Z

Man this is the best I've played so far. My only legitimate complaint is that I can't pause the game. Also yeah off-screen souls suck. But this is amazing dude.

The Cyclist Helper by Gediminas Gurskis 2020-04-20T17:11:37Z

Interesting game, also the minimal style is actually pretty good. I like the physics approach behind it :)

Teeter (HTML) by murpyh 2020-04-19T18:17:51Z

I'm going to be honest I did not expect this to be a physics game, although it is really cool. I will say it's hard as hell though, because I can't effectively get the "cup" to recenter/balance properly. Neat game though! It might've helped if you could increase the resolution of the game so there's more moving room :)

The 24th Century Surgeon by DeSpiciestBoi 2020-04-20T18:04:46Z

For some reason the game does not seem to run on my system, but based on what others said I'm quite interested if you can get a working build. I'm still running Windows 7 64 bit if that helps.
