Realy cool gameplay loop an light system!
The lighhning is really cool, and that the maze changes over time is brilliant! Its a little long though. I enjoyed it! Somehow I did not understand that sometimes I could carry 3 othertimes just 2 woods with me ^^ But I liked it! Did not finished though! But its nice to sit on the fire and see the kids talking :)
Nice. Great touch with the kids talking. Great lights
Great mood, love the lighting and the chatting, the game is easy to beat, but still a solid game, well done!
Nice game that totally fits the theme! The music is nice, even though it doesn't make me think so much of how dangerous the forest with monsters could be ;)
cool idea executed well
awesome lighting and directional music to guide back the way. really gets dark in the night so flashlight is useful!
Cool game with great graphics. The lighting effect is really nice. It might have been even better if the light could rotate. Well done!
Nice and simple resource gathering game. I agree with @drschizzo though that it would be better if you had like a mouse-look for lighting cause the 4 directional look makes a bit awkward and jarring to get the light where I want it to be. Very good graphics though, also it seems like the wood is limited and I believe it would better if it respawned. That may be intentional but then the game could be impossible if all the wood was used up. Good game though!
Thank you all for playing my game! @drschizzo Yes, good idea, I wanted to add a "sweep" of the lamplight when turning, but then time was up and the feature was dropped.. @xpost2000 The wood is measured and just enough to make it through the night. (tested it)
That flashlight light is something, amazing job!
Nice little game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 46 compilation video series, if you want to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/6SpOkik3XNg
Awesome game! Interesting horror survivor simulator  with nice music!
I thought shadowed light effect was neat!
good idea!
Liked the sounds and the sprites. It was a little easy getting by the trolls. I did think they were bears though:) The lighting was cool. It was easy to keep the fire going though. Maybe the timer goes done quicker. It seemed like after you put the logs in it would go done right awy.
Nice work :) Fun game AND it's even more awesome because it's built in Godot :)
Love it!
this is a decent game man
Fun gameplay loop and cute graphics, especially liked the soundtrack! The flashlight mechanic was really fun but I would have loved it if running out of batteries was a little more punishing (I could still avoid the trolls without it). Other than that all round awesome!
@itskdog Yes the timer is a bit tricky - if you throw in too much wood and the timer was already full, then the fire will not burn much longer (but you get a little over 100% in the counter which is not shown, so it will take a while until it decreases again). This is a bug, I think.
(All in all - the goal is to survive the night and keep the fire burning all the time so you are not met by the trolls at the fireplace. And there is only a limited amount of wood, so it is important to find it all and throw it in the fire when needed..)
Oh no, I got eaten by a troll! Just when I was thinking those guys are a bit too slow one got me from behind... Great gameplay. The maze was a little tricky sometimes - it's pretty damn dark out there! Maybe a few sound effects would've been nice especially when you're far away from the camp fire, just some foot steps in the dark etc... :)
Seems like a lot of effort to get this done in 48h, great job!
Pretty fun, a bit slow at first though, but the dialogue by the campers really added a lot of character!
I like the music. Cool game.
Immersive atmosphere, with the good music, the characters talking on the trunk, scaling volume with distance, the lighting... But the gameplay itself is a bit boring. After a while it's hard to see anything in the dark, sometimes it feels like luck: whether a yeti will walk at me from the sides while walking downwards. They could also be a bit more interactive. If I know their path I can just walk past by them, they won't bother me.
Anyway, solid entry!
Really cute little game! I like that the torch light also had collsions with the objects. I also enjoyed the conversation in the background between the 2 campers :D Only thing i found to be a possible problem was that the player walked under the radio: radio.JPG But it didnt affect the fun gameplay :)
The audio was good and the lighting effects were quite ambitious. Howver, I found it to be very easy. At one point, the bar on the fire just stopped going down, and it went down so slowly anyway that there was nearly no urgency. In the same vein, the flashlight never felt needed since it never got that dark. Was it supposed to scare trolls, maybe? Also, the layering was definitely janky.
All that said, the aesthetics of this game shine. Nice job.
Great job. So much to like, great theme and graphics. I also really liked the lighting with the sunset and sunrise and flashlight. My only suggestion is the game was a little too easy. Maybe you could speed up the trolls a bit and improve the AI to not let me walk right by the trolls on a path.
Really like the concept and the art and humor are both great (I really like the conversation about how the music is the same the whole night). The gameplay felt a little slow. I found myself waiting for a few minutes between each run for wood. I think there are two ways to fix this: either make it so that time passes and the fire depletes faster, or add more objectives. One thing I thought was, if light seems to scare the trolls away, why doesn't my flashlight scare them away? Maybe that could be part of the objective: there are places in the campsite where shadows block out the fire's light, so you must shine your own light to protect these places.
I think you did a great job with the audio. I loved the sound effects and how the radio played the theme and you could hear the differences in the direction it was coming from as you moved throughout the map.
They look so cute I thought I could talk to them

The game is cute and the music is pleasant, so much so that I could not bother trying to run away from the bears lol, was having a very good time with my family by the fire
You got everything right in this game. You made a happy *horror* game. The dialogues the friends have are hilarious. Their shadow adds more depth to the game as the player has to go and clear their backs. Smart design choice. 10/10
Gathered all the wood I could get from the forest in the first couple of hours.
Was pretty much chilling out at the campfire afterwards.
Perhaps, the trolls could actually notice you and try chasing you when you're close enough?
Nice music and mood :)
Good little game, graphics are good for a compo game, there are music, sound. Game is easy to understand. At the beginning i thinked the light can be scared the "troll" (i thinked its a bear), but finally not.The game is not hard, and a little repetitive but relaxing, i enjoyed see the two other people talking (i think that you can use more this thing). Good job !
Nice game. Loved the effect of torch and fire. I felt torch did not have much effect as I could see everything in the dark. But overall had fun playing it and loved the adaptation of the theme.
Pretty chill game, maybe only reveal the trolls to the lamp-torch? The labyrinth paths made me want to explore
Great game, the light effects are awesome, keep the hard work!:D
Gj!
Cool game, I really love the light effects. The music is also very good.
Wow - there is so much great polish in this game. - Love the music - it's great - Love the pixel art! It's so good! - Love the way you fade the music in and out as I get closer to the middle, as thought he music is coming from the music box by the fire - Really dig the way the light comes out from both the campfire and your flashlight to illuminate the environment
So many great little elements.
If I could call out an area for improvement - I would have liked the core gameplay to be a bit more engaging. It was fine for the first few minutes but going back and forth got a bit tedious - though at least I had that rockin' sound track to bop my head to!
Fun little game with a nice simple mechanic. I like the dialogue, and the fact that the trolls are just goofy looking creatures that seem to wander aimlessly. :D
Great entry!
A fun and friendly little game. I like it. Well done.
I love a game that perfectly simulates how I feel about camping and hiking. Stay inside, kids, there are no trolls inside.
I don't have much to criticize, this is probably a perfectly scoped project for compo, where there are a few ideas that would have been really nice to have if only you had a couple extra hours, but all the important stuff made it in so that ppl can have a quality experience and you don't have to opt out of any scoring categories.
Fun little game with a Nice simple mechanics, good job!!!
Thank you all so much for playing and rating my game!! Soo many!! @itsarjunsinh I think I like the label "happy horror game" @tatetate Its more the fire than purely the light that scares them, I suppose. And yes, there are slight pauses in the gameplay currently, this could be balanced better. @cheesepencil Right, no trolls, no mosquitos. But here, someone has to fetch the wood. @firellon @dave-follett Yes, that could be nice, that the trolls do notice you if very near. @quinn-patrick True, it doesnt get completely dark, this could be changed - wanted to do something with clouds and moonlight too, and that the trolls could pause and disguise as rocks. But time was up.
