Great work! It was great to play golf during the apocalypse))))
Hi there. OK so I was looking forward to this game and I fully planned on finishing but it just got too frustrating. There was some good potential here but a couple of things prevented it from being enjoyable
1. I assume you used the stock Unity first person controller - that's great I love it and used it in my submission, why for the love of god did you change the walk speed? It was painful to have to walk so slowly 2. There is absolutely no control over stroke speed, you just basically hit the ball super hard and it goes all over. If you didn't want to implement a full putter support, a simple way to do this would be to have the cursor be a very simple circle and the longer you hold it the bigger the circle gets and stronger your put will be. A simple tap will be a tiny cursor and the ball will only go slow, longer held, bigger circle, ball gets bigger impulse. 3. sound of course would be nice, but not required.
overall good job submitting and good luck next time!
I was expecting fireballs or earthquakes or high winds... but you know, peaceful apocalypse is a good thing too... That camera though... yeah, this is why I can't play 97% of games with a first person camera. My poor, poor occipital lobe :( :P
No, it was great though, and made me want to go play some minigolf again!
@morphine Thank you for your honest and constructive criticism. My original concept for the game was that the player would be shooting the golf ball with a selection of different weapons and have control over the balls behaviour that way. Unfortunately I had some trouble configuring the physics and the time constraints caught up with me. So I ended up with just two different speeds (you can putt the ball by right clicking in case you missed that). The slow walking speed was a mistake, at first it was to make it easier to line up the shots, but after I added the precision walking mechanic it wasn't really necessary anymore. It just stuck around. Thank you for playing my game!
@good-enough Thank you for playing! At first I was planning on making the game a bit more "apocalyptic" but this is what I ended up with when the time was up.
@driedwatermelon I must have missed that damn! I really would consider the dynamic option I suggested above, for just a tiny bit of work you could make the game a lot more dynamic. If you need any help with doing that in Unity I am happy to give you some pointers
@morphine Thanks, I'll think about it :)
Stroke is too powerful, otherwise great game :)
It's a pretty nice game-kinda hard to figure out at first but I still enjoyed it. I would have liked it more if there was a way to control the power of your strokes/putts, but it's understandable with the time constraints. Another thing issue was the fact that your stroking and putts have infinite range. I could hit the golf ball from a mile away if I was able to click on it. It's overall a pretty decent entry though, although I didn't really see what the two themes are.
Nice game, a very relaxing way to spend time in the middle of an apocalypse. Good effort!
A very well made mini golf game. Well done.
Good job on the entry! I was honestly expecting to be attack by zombies whilst playing mini-golf, I would love to see that if you plan on working on this post-LD. It was really difficult to pot the ball because the ball was always smacked away at full speed! It would be great to see a power meter used too. The use of colour in this game was great. Keep making games!
Edit: I see in one of the comments that you can right click to putt the ball. It would be awesome to see that written in game!
