LD29 — Beneath the Surface

What's Beneath? by Lerc 2014-04-29T09:55:00

The drawing is beautiful although the player character was a bit alien to the rest. It would have been justified to die when colliding if I was looking for something. But, as for exploration only, my curiosity to see the drawing is what drove me to repeat it over and over

LD29 Jam : You Are The Magnet by robopossum 2014-04-29T10:09:00

Liked it , yet it was a bit hard though to keep predicting the location of the magnet.

Wave Raiders by 4KbShort 2014-04-29T20:53:00

I liked the graphics ,the mood and the store .
I don't know if it was my problem or that I need to refresh the browser to return back when dying
collision boxes where sometimes acting strangely , some items where located just behind a jellyfish .

Deepsea - Delirious by BarkingCat 2014-04-29T20:27:00

Very neat well-polished game , the parallax scrolling was beautiful too . ooh and the lights :)
I only didn't like the idea of having to go through 3 screens until I replay (Y to try again ),(the black screen) and then the main menu .
I don't know why but I found it a bit difficult too . I would have loved to have an offensive power up in addition to the Jammer

CRUDE by blahoink 2014-04-29T03:16:00

Very good game , I really wanted to expand more and use the huge amount of money I got out of selling oil :P
so I kept building sensors on the trees on the right to see if there would be an unexplored land . but too bad one of the trees were high .

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Defence the castle of dreams by Smirnov48 2015-04-21T20:34:00

funny game , hhhh , I can't imagine I was really throwing diapers on them
ooh and the might old phones
good work!

RELIC by CptDustmite 2015-05-11T07:55:00

The narratives are really good , the gameplay weren't much fun .

This Fart of Mine by rodrigomotta 2015-05-04T07:09:00

To fart or not to fart that's the question :P
a wonderful game !

Lightbender by dylanwolf 2015-04-21T19:57:00

As other have mentioned the jumping was bad :(
other than that I really liked the idea
I was also thinking of a scientific explanation of "light bending " :P

Love Will Always Prevail by TheMaster99 2015-05-11T21:50:00

It wasn't clear to me why I need the followers to defeat the boss . I liked how the shooting weren't accurate and had some sort of randomness . It was easy though and didn't had replaying value.

Dischord by Wefiends 2015-04-21T20:18:00

That was wonderful , neat and innovative !

You Can Shave the Baby by chikun Dev Team 2015-04-26T17:44:00

What did I just played !

Where Is Your Gun Now, Mr. Chekhov? by Mike Mezhenin 2015-04-23T14:06:00

Simply Wonderful!

Panjandrum vs. Triebflügel by Hectigo 2015-04-26T18:40:00

The art is good , it was surprising to know that these strategies have really a background in history !
I would have loved I can reclaim my lands :(
Loved it !

I dont want to hear it by ekun 2015-04-26T18:03:00

although is essence is similar to another game
(1337 BEAT AGENT) I played
(The mechanic of repelling at right time)
I enjoyed yours much more !
your choice of music is good too

Quantum Fields by Mathieu Muller 2015-04-21T20:49:00

The mechanics are neat , but the game is hard !

SHiFT by Fanttum 2015-04-21T11:43:00

It's hard ,not much motivated me to try over and over
the gravity shift although good idea might need some tuning in how it's implemented

Gravity by rudra 2015-04-24T21:19:00

the idea is new certainly . It would have been better if I didn't have a game over for each time I lose as it interrupted the game flow .
there were a strange difference in the minimized art of the menu and the space-like style

I also noticed that there is a particle effect only when the ball hits my board but not when it hits the a.i board

Law Simulator by bernardery 2015-04-24T21:11:00

there were clear difference in the art styles of the story and the minigames.
I liked how the animation of the characters were depicting what they were feeling .
good work though

Je Suis Charlie by Paulozz 2015-04-21T20:39:00

it could help if the words were more slower at the beginning and then increased in speed .

The Bystander by sylvesterhansen 2015-04-21T20:05:00

I liked the graphics very much , the walking animation was funny :)
it was a bit hard though, you could have relied on
a diffirent control other that double tapping

MagDef by jhell 2015-04-24T21:27:00

It's a nice game , I found that when you research speed you get fast enough that if you kept rotating you can repel 90% of the asteroids.
The meteors that came occasionally was a really nice touch

Chwasty by tajger 2015-05-11T21:39:00

The sound effects were ... weird :)
I liked how the game becomes harder with time because of the plants , I preferred if their were a health points system .

Troll smakkin' by Shimmergloom 2015-04-26T17:38:00

The visuals were cool.
I would have loved if I can smack at any time when ever I press the button .

Sivo: Trial of the Lava God by rattower 2015-04-26T18:15:00

Loved it !

The Reviewer by kyyrma 2015-04-21T19:36:00

Wonderful and creative !
I didn't saw how is it related to the theme though

The Mighty Writer. by Miltage 2015-04-23T11:24:00

I really loved the game , the idea it self can be used with many types of games , just change the story and the environment and you get a new game
the visuals were nice , and choosing the grayscale colors were perfect.

couldn't stop thinking of regular grammars and FSA though , right :P ?

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Sort the Court! by graebor 2015-12-17T21:46:00

I really loved it !
the music were cool , the characters and the narrative were interesting .
I really liked the art , even though it sound simple in its composition it turned out very coherent and beautiful .
The challenge isn't great though ,if you know the good choices and never traded your people souls it turns out good
(well except for that stupid dragon :P )

Double Kick Heroes by blackmagic 2015-12-16T19:28:00

Really good , The music and the art is wonderful, I stared for a while at it to learn from the details :)

St. Orchint's Orphanage by Double Zero One Zero 2015-12-17T15:11:00

Wonderful , but like you said it needs balancing.
the medicine weren't a problem ,compared to the food , the children seems to eat way too much .
(why no option to choose the portion of food they get :P )

Frogtale by rzuf 2015-12-17T21:01:00

I liked that you hand drew and played your own music , the sound of inflation and the boss music were a bit annoying in the sense that they were sharp and sudden.
I liked that i could level up (and not lose that when I lose all my HP)because implicitly it rewarded those who played multiple times to win it.

I liked it .

The Dark Knight March by abuzreq 2015-12-15T11:18:00

Problem Fixed , thanks a lot!

Breathe by Galvesmash 2015-12-20T10:05:00

So I will say much and hope it makes sense :
The art style were great and so were the music and the visual effects.
the animation of the spirits were very simple when compared to the rest of the animations in the game(maybe it is intended)
I didn't get the sound effect at the start of the game(someone talking) and therefore how does it fit in.

I liked how spirits appeared to be cut in half (like in the fruits game on smartphones :P )
but the effect when spirits hit you felt strange
(because I was trying to fill everything in the picture of a meditating monk I thought that I won and wondered why the game is so short)
a more reasonable thing was not an appearance of light(white rectangles) but the absence of light much like if the monk succumbed to the darkness of the spirits.

I really hope this helps and not that I am imagining things :P

Jack's unremarkable, absolutely normal day by Jod 2015-12-17T15:29:00

I really liked it and now happily married , I which to know how she got the money though :P

Ivan, the lumberjack of the forever growing tree by jancsiba5 2015-12-16T13:04:00

Cool game .
but perhaps the losing happens so quickly
the light , the stars and the atmosphere of the game are good
could have used a more Christmasy music :P
and maybe show some of the villagers watching you as you go up (because it felt so lonely going alone climbing the tree)

ooh Ok I just played it again , I didn't know those strange figures were people

Go LIBGdxers ! :)

Growthia by oskardevelopment 2015-12-20T11:40:00

So there is a lot for me to say
(first of all you should have said 'right' click on territory to conquer)
so..
at first the colors were confusing but then slowly I understood , ooh each turn I get one soldier
then different buildings produce different number soldiers
then i realized that I pay for the building using soldiers
hen i realized that there is a sort of dominance and places I come across takes my color
slowly then I starting thinking of stratagies
build as much castles as possible and by that I built 2000 soldiers and was to lazy to accumulate more
one because it was enough to defeat everyone and another because time isn't enough to do much clicks around

So I really loved the game and found out much about the game by playing it which is positive , I my self are working on a strategy game in my free time and find that good because it means your game is intuitive and people can grasp it easily.

Now I looked into your website , and man I saw many manifestations of the same game with different design decisions ,story and graphics.
decisions and balancing in stratagy games are really hard and I symphazie with you , especcially that you need to have an A.I in your case .
there is diffenetly much to improve and I am looking forward for advances in your game.
I made this stratagy game for LD32 and maybe you can take a look at it

RitualCraft by Squid Blink Games 2015-12-16T19:48:00

Good game ,but it really needed some hints for the rituals , the idea that the ingredients are lost is annoying (although might be more realistic :P ,I guess)
I ended up having a lot of useless ingredients that Cepha'la'goth would keep stealing them

SUPER SCIENCE CORP by Hot Box Games 2015-12-20T10:34:00

The game really has no clear drawback at first glance ,
I liked the voice acting(I hate him now because I deserve to live :P )
I couldn't tell what kind of bug the one I am fighting will evolve to so I think it's random.
but I really liked the variations in them.

I wondered how are those metrics about accuracy are implemented.

I hoped for a different way of upgrading other than increasing number of bullets.

well done !

Can't Jump by x92rwzb 2015-12-24T22:07:00

the idea is interesting , a bit hard .
could have used better colors for the background and the ledges.

Models! by Obvious Industries 2015-12-16T12:45:00

I liked it , it's very funny :)
there is a noticeable difference in the art styles of the audience ,the judges, the environment and the model.

the blood was a bit dramatic though

FLOW by Romixal 2015-12-16T12:32:00

it's so calming and simple(in a good way).
I felt so close to the shore but never reached any.

Lumberjacks Must Die: The Story of Treesus by Captain Awesome 2015-12-16T19:15:00

hhhh so funny , would have loved to be cannibalistic and eat fellow trees :P

Lumberjack vs. Ancient Druid's Cybertree by anv 2015-12-24T22:19:00

I want a flamethrower , I mean lumberjacks have some,right ?

at the start I tried cutting the seeds but soon it became impractical and I just looked for trees to cut.

I liked the strength given to me in after the selfie .

graphics are good .

again can't I have a dragon breath :P

Blob Schmlob (BS) by SpecialChef 2015-12-15T21:45:00

Nice!, the restarting after losing could be faster , it made it challenging for them to follow me.

GURU by TomenLuca 2015-12-17T22:20:00

Wow! , really good !

White Rose by Kenneth Ng 2015-12-20T10:10:00

I really loved the game and its visual arts ,and truly I don't mind rating on Audio because I don't understand this category as something you created but how well you used music in your game .

LD35 — Shapeshift

Zen and the Art of Transhumanism by Deconstructeam 2016-04-23T22:19:00

That needed a lot of patience :P
I liked the back stories and graphics.I found my self (while crafting) sometimes pressing rapidly on arrow to move the head just because I am pressing on the action button rapidly.

MODE_SHIFT by RyanNielson 2016-05-09T16:15:00

Awesome game.. I loved the visual effects .
The shape shift weren't much beneficial though
The game was fun and had a cool mood .

Getting shifty by Ithildin 2016-05-03T21:10:00

So colorful, so Particles-Full!!
I loved the arcade-ness in the game :)
playing it in the browser suffered from some lags especially when blasting.
Great Work !

Gallery by ToadieTechnika 2016-04-20T06:18:00

Now that's a memorization game dressed up in graph theory and modern art :P
Nice animation . The game is small though.
I liked the idea of the gallery and naming my shapes :D
where do those paintings go anyway ?

Shamanic Panic by panurge 2016-04-20T06:04:00

That was very enlightening lol .
In the last level though you didn't need to combine everything A flying eagle is basically all you need to win any level.(maybe you might want to add a wall with a whole in the bottom that the hare only can pass through it ,Alice style :) )
another thing is if in the last level I kept firing mystical balls, I have the chance of killing quiet a lot of them even before I meet them .
is the random animal I got is really random I got a Cautious Eagle?

SHAPE.SHIFT() by Xanjos 2016-05-09T14:22:00

The music, the font and the graphics were good and well suited

There was a problem in the flow..generally for games that requires multiple repeats\trials there should be a minimal barrier\clicks between one play and the other, so things like waiting for a time T before screen transition and having to press on one button out of two (Restart and MainMenu) should be avoided.
(so reduce time of transition and allow player to restart if he pressed anywhere on screen or if he pressed SPACE for example)

I am not sure if the distance between one wall and the other where always well chosen , sometimes it appeared to be impossible (like in cases as these Top-Bottom-Top)

The game could be made easier and more forgiving (but perhaps less visually pleasing ) if the player moves in a discrete way.
so rather than moving slightly up or down as long as the button is pressed ,move the player by a distance D where the holes in wall lies in one of those discrete places .

I hope that was helpful :)

Transform! The Three Natures by cudabear 2016-05-03T20:57:00

I loved the bouncing look of the shapes.Using the circle and the triangle in combination where cool too.
The buttons function were not clear at the beginning.

graphical tutorials could help a lot.

Nice game !

Shift! by StrayCat 2016-05-08T21:12:00

Good work !, The game had a nice flow and I really like the graphics and the animation.
(I also learned a thing or two from your time-lapses :))

but in many times changing the shape was not clearly needed
and I didn't get when do I lose .The level seemed to be over populated with animals sometimes .

and just an idea that could take the game in a different direction:
you might consider trying to make the shape shifting controlled through a button press while introducing new challenges that require using the different shapes smartly.
This give the opportunity for more animal shapes and a wider variety of challenges (Jumping , Attacking,Camouflage,..etc )

Jack Shift by Marjie62 2016-04-21T08:41:00

That's a smart mechanic !
Would imagine how it would expand to more decors

although I see a challenge in the possible confusion
so maybe moving into other environments than houses
(where it's perfectly suitable for most cases to be either a chair or a sink)
and if you decided to stick with houses then then the decor style can be included (you can't put an aluminium chair in a Victorian classic study room)
but then again that might cause confusion (except for interior designers maybe )

Good game overall, it was short though .

Disciple by Japes 2016-05-07T16:35:00

Good take on the theme.
The mechanic is good .I think I nailed the soft mode .But the controls for the hard mode were weird and I didn't understand when really should I press.
I liked the comments on the background wall.
Could have taken a more cooler setting (assuming you are not an art-less programmer like me) with a teaching master and cool animation for deflection :P

Wizard of Shapes by puppetmaster 2016-05-09T16:28:00

Impressive graphics , the game had a balanced difficulty and were easy to learn .The main mechanic is solid and the idea that shapes regenerate again and that you lose some of the shapes you need to open the door created a good tension.
Well done!

Sergei's Virus by avinashd 2016-05-08T20:46:00

That's amazing !
I haven't coded in python for long but got until removing the conditionals (and for some reason lambdas are not working :P)
I didn't play a game like this before and would love having a one for Java :P
(psst.. yes you! , do it if you know Java,please..!)

Shadow of the Red Hand by andyman404 2016-04-21T08:57:00

WOW!
That's creative !
Having Looked into other games I must thank you for a checkpoint
ooh and also thanks for allowing me to get a new life by jumping
ooh and thanks for the time-laps :)

Silver Bullet by pavel_insight 2016-05-07T17:51:00

Nice work..
Could have used more questions and maybe a backstory that can hint to the player the real Marry.
Also the questions can be put in a way that leads the shape-shifter to a trap if asked in the right sequence
I didn't like the ending much .. the tension built through out the game(of not killing your beloved) ended being unjustified and unworthy when the man turned out to be a shape-shifter.

The Night Shift by silkworm_sweatshop 2016-04-20T19:43:00

Amazing !
I really liked the cut scene, reminded me of Flatland :)
The mechanics are interesting and the music is suitable .
Well made..

Aether Crypt by Tselmek 2016-05-07T17:21:00

Other than it was very dark to an annoying level sometimes, the game is really cool.
It was hard to get to the keys in the dark even after having all the shapes in my arsenal.
The game was short so that didn't allow the utilization of all the shapes (many were used to open the gate only and didn't and any particular trait)
hopefully in a longer game ,an interesting game play can emerge out of their different abilities.
Good Work!

A Story of Hatred by fragileannihilator 2016-05-07T16:54:00

I am amazed that this music is procedurally generated.Didn't though these are this mature yet.
The humor ,hmmmm, well at first it was cool but then it got repetitive(one don't simply "bat-boo" on everyone to solve his problems) which could be then the humorous part in the game after all ,so... never mind.
Oooh I liked the narration too :)

Give me Six by SpiritJZL 2016-04-21T08:27:00

The game mechanics is really interesting , has some similarities with GO .
Hmmm for some reason I chose after playing normally for a couple of times to try and color all the dots without any one winning .
I did it , but I weren't told it's a draw :P
(A more interesting challenge would have been to color all the board in yellow :) )
Nice game for sure , I liked the symmetrical patterns that results too.

Henkan Pachinko by AnaGF 2016-05-07T18:07:00

Nice game, you need to add more levels though !
Also could add things like two balls from multiple sources,
and a bonus if the player managed to win a level while saving some of the shape shifts.
The music was good and so was the art.

Eggplant’s Dynamic Chimerization by DAT.NOT.MY.GAME! 2016-04-19T18:38:00

Great graphics , I liked the interaction between the other creatures in the island (How Eggplants duplicate and how wolves feed on goats)
Took me sometime to realize who beats what .
Story wise, I didn't get the reason of finding "the door" each time.

Disarranged by Sheepolution 2016-04-21T08:05:00

Hilarious lol !
I couldn't punch everything twice so I dunno how it ends but hopefully the man won't suicide thinking that even his apartment is against him now :P because that would make me (even as a couch) feel extremely sorry

Tito's Revenge by brinkhousegames 2016-04-19T17:26:00

Wow ! that's a good one .
The art and graphics are definitely cool.
I liked the blending between scifi and the westeren theme.
Your take on the theme, though, is somehow lacking
maybe it could have been that you use the souls you collect and shift their shapes to bullets
(like collectible ammo)

Geometer's Folly by SpareWizard 2016-05-03T21:33:00

I loved the story.
The idea of drawing the shapes on the ground and that every shape represent a spell were great.
The game could have been more "active" though
like more active enemies , more destructive and visually cool spells and a level designed to aid this
the right click teleport although cool , didn't fit much in my opinion and found it unnecessary

The game has good potential but requires better using the game mechanic.

Geometer's Folly by SpareWizard 2016-05-03T21:38:00

Ok,just played the post compo version and that was almost exactly what I had in mind.
The game is still a bit hard , I rarely had time\space for anything more than a square or a diamond.

Helium-4 by mountainstorm 2016-05-03T21:18:00

Hmm, nice visuals and music.
But couldn't get what exactly happens when I press.
things seemed to be very fast for a well timed reaction.
Liked the simplicity .

Agent Shift by jollyserpent 2016-05-07T18:49:00

Amazing!
I loved it so much that I am blinded to what could be added but would give it a try.
There are aspect that is hard to rate based on one game play like how the cards are generated and how much interesting are they when combined, how helpful should the clues be.

If you want the audience to get wider, the map could be redrawn and the text conveying the information about each province could be supplemented or replaced with images.

I also saw the post-compo version and although having the polygons as hexagons might have gave you as easy way to increase\decrease difficulty as measured by number of provinces but it lacks the aesthetics of a map with more smother edges.(Which could be procedurally generated)

Hope that helped :)

Would be glad if you can give my game a try

Boolean Differences by ruchirbapat 2016-05-03T20:33:00

The idea is good and could be extended with even more interesting shapes .
the controls though are a bit hard to master.
some times the ball would drift to the edge and fall even if I am not pressing any thing (a result of physically simulating everything , instead some hard coded rules can prevent this)

Could have helped a lot if a shadow of the shape(or any other indicator) was drawn on the place where I will fall
as it was hard sometimes to predict that.

Mission: Decomposition by MurderPunch 2016-04-20T06:09:00

Good graphics, it was hard to kill the parsites though
The sounds were ..weird :P

Loathsome Shifter by bigmangames 2016-05-03T20:25:00

Hmmm, nice narratives but only thing I did was to slam the object into the wall :P and see them being disappointed in me.
The game size is large btw ..

Run Baby Run by omidprosper 2016-05-03T20:45:00

The animations and the music were good.
Cool game mechanics.
The platforms and mines placement were done well.

There isn't much relation though between the art of the environment , the background , the man ,the flying thing :P and the game name as well.
It's basically an infinite runner with no clear context or a background story(which isn't to say that this is bad)
it's just my personal preference (especially when there are many infinite runners out there)

Good Job !

Liborio the Shapemancer by MightyToastStudio 2016-04-21T10:24:00

Impressive ,Pretty much a good amount of content even for 3 day!
The physics were a bit strange
when I shifted to a dog the first time I found my self flying up then fell back again
also when I made a woman unconscious she moved "while laying on the ground" to the door , moved the guards away and opens the door :P
The level design was really cool.
