Clever game, nice use of the theme
Nice quick story game. I'd like to know somehow if I picked correctly but maybe that's part of the game.
@Tygrak, yes, it's how the game is designed, you make your own decision. But there is a way to find a very solid clue. ;)
Nice game, good graphics. Played it a couple of times and maybe I'm just thick but I can't figure out what should tip off what the solution is. Maybe it's unclear what the rules of a shapeshifter in this game's lore is.
Really calls for some kind of audio (played the compo version).
Definitely enjoyed the use of the theme. I sort of got the impression there is not right answer after exhausting everything and that you just try to make your own choice. Though I did notice one part where one Mary copied the other, which.. I think means they're the imposter?
Anyhow, I spared the Mary who liked cakes. Imposter or no, she seemed fun.
Very interesting idea!
cool , point and click are so rare in ldjam ! nice works !
Short, but fun! I liked it. I tried all three (unless there's more?) solutions. Great fun!
Fun game, nice music, liked it overall.
I am just in awe. That was an amazing game. Lasted prettty short but great. Good take on the theme, and that ending just blew me away. No spoilers, but just saying i was like :O
Why you can not shoot before reading all the dialogue options? I asked a question about the book and have already guessed. I was right, it was correct
Nice game. It was hard to reveal the truth on the first playthrough, but after 3 games it became clear that the 1st Mary is the real one. Good job!
Wow... WOW! This... is... real COOL!
Interesting story
Interesting. Reading your comments makes me wonder what the 'solid clue' was. Good use of the theme, somewhat simplistic graphically though.
Nice job. :)
Great game, I liked it really much! The setting was nice and you used the theme nicely, maybe I did not get something but ending seemed strange for me.
Very cool take on the theme. I like that you don't ever say which is which.
I was expecting the riddle of Mary the sincere vs Mary the liar.
Cool adventure game.
Good mood and good dialogues!
Good scenario, the pixel art is smooth and beautiful, and the music is great ! I enjoyed playing this :)
I think the solid clue is in the UI feedback, in a way. Some actions are more difficult to take than others....
Clever game, i like it.
Nice game but I can't rate it on humor, i all other matters it was really good.
It's very funny, short but funny!
Loved the concept! Would be nice to have the option to skip through parts that you've already read. Still super fun! Great use of the theme!
Very nice story scenario with enjoyable choices. Nice touch with the breathing animation. Enjoyed it! :)
Nice !
Nice! The simple graphics work well and it was an interesting puzzle to try to figure it out. I feel confident that Mary 1 is the real Mary, but is there a way to get a good ending? I want the main character and the real Mary to both survive... :)
Great conversational game, the dialogue has goes on well in every branch, it's fun and has an unpredictable ending :D
Hi, nice game ! We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #35.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description
Thanks for the invitation, Freank!
Nice art, the answers to the questions changed depending on who you asked first and what you responded with, pretty cool. I think that the Mary 2 is the imposter.
I got it right on the first try, but I can't say I wasn't a bit lucky. Nice entry!
I enjoyed this game. Didn't really get the ending, though. Doesn't quite make sense to me... and nor could I find the elusive clue I've been hearing about. Still it was a nice entry, and I liked it.
I like the idea but it's strange to have to guess at what I myself am supposed to remember. Presumably I should know if Mary is telling the truth. I found the "twist" a bit puzzling - is that supposed to be the reason for the first comment? Then who is the fourth character?
I assume the "solid clue" is the part where the player character says "I smell a lie!"?
Alright, so I have no clue what is actually the answer. Heres what I'm thinking, however it might just be speculation:
Mary #2 is the shapeshifter.
-Mary #2 Refuses to answer the fetish question on her own.
When #1 answers first, #2 says that #1 heard it from her because #2 didn't know that #1 was a shapeshifter. This makes no sense since if Mary #2 was real, then she would know that #1 wasn't real. Mary #2 uses a flimsy excuse to try to shift the suspicion on Mary #1 and never gives a proper answer.
Very interesting. I think Mary #2 is the fake Mary, she refuses to answer about fetishes, and although she answers the same about where you met, she answers differently about the book every time. Mary #1 insists she has never read that book. Mary #2 also never states she is not the shapeshifter, merely accusing Mary #1 of being a shapeshifter, unlike Mary #1 who does.
Mary #2 comes out with a snarky comment after shooting yourself, as well, while Mary #1 is immediately angry at Mary #2.
Of course it's possible that the third Mary is the real Mary and everyone featured is actually a shapeshifter.
Thanks everyone for playing and for providing great feedback!
@adam, it's not just quessing, it's a bluff mechanics, so you can try to confuse a shapeshifter. And, yes, you are right, it's also interrelated with the twist. Both interpretations are possible.
"I smell a lie" - yes, that's the clue. Congrats!
@SamJam, her answer makes sense, if the shapeshifter heard about fetish in her normal form - and actually changed into Mary *after that*. So Mary didn't know about shapeshifter's abilities when they were talking earlier. )
@alyphen, that's great version about the third Mary. I was hoping that players would note it. :)
amazing game! played it so many tiems~ very nice! (worth high votes ) and these comments above also worth to read,so logic so fun and very Cool! congratulations~
Nice work..
Could have used more questions and maybe a backstory that can hint to the player the real Marry.
Also the questions can be put in a way that leads the shape-shifter to a trap if asked in the right sequence
I didn't like the ending much .. the tension built through out the game(of not killing your beloved) ended being unjustified and unworthy when the man turned out to be a shape-shifter.
Great game and idea, I enjoyed playing it!
