Interesting existential thought, being the creation of some programmer in some other universe. I enjoyed it for a while, although my people turn bad really quickly! Good job!

I like the 80s word processor aesthetic. I especially like games that encourage you to learn their own internalised logic, such as the 'God' code of this game. Learning the ropes was fun and kept play interesting for a while. Good job at doing so much with graphically so little assets.

tomolivier 2015-08-25 11:54

I love this idea. Would be interesting to have more actions like trying to talk to your people and create a religion.

lucentbeam 2015-08-25 11:56

Really nice work. My first reaction was to ls, so good job on that ;) I like the concept a lot, would love to see more control and ways to poke at the world. Maybe send a flood to pare back the people when they get out of control.

jordinuco 2015-08-25 12:03

Time run fast this weekend, had not as much time as I would have liked.. flood was an option even before sending prophets :D But yes, the lack of 'ls -la' is inexcusable. Sorry!

I can appreciate the idea of a deity with a command line, it's a small smile which lasts for a while.

Tackling managing the entire cosmos creates certain expectations with the player, and I understand you chose the limited interventions certain monotheistic religions have to highlight what the game is joking about.

It feels like walking through a story more than an interactive experience, where things happen in order for as long as you have things to try out. Eventually you run out of animals and plants as the humans increase in number, and a balance can never happen.

I don't know how much time you had left to spare, but some options given to the player would have made the universe feel more like their own.

For example, creating a prophet could have had options about what kind of prophet you are sending out - it could be an 1) enthusiastic 2) raccoon who 3) can breathe fire.
Same goes for the messiah. As long as you are all-powerful, might as well have a little fun on the way out.

how do i get my linux terminal to generate this sounds? :D

nowandstudios 2015-08-25 15:14

Wow! very impressive i love the idea of programming the world. This game has made me remember some tales of Isaac Asimov. Congrats!

radmars 2015-08-25 15:59

hahaha! I love it. This is a really clever take on a god game. All of my humans went to hell :( rip planet spacemars. Really dig the feel of this game. I wish there were a bit more flavour features in there, even if they dont 'do' much. sending messages to my believers, causing natural disasters, etc. Very cool though! Awesome entry. :D

radiolemon 2015-08-25 16:42

Interesting God sandbox game. Command line games are always fun!

tackorama 2015-08-25 16:46

Love the concept and the command line interface. Making the player learn the interface and how to be god was fun. Not sure if the monster concept was apt for this.

zzcalvinzz 2015-08-25 16:50

really neat idea....not that much fun, but interesting especially for those who understand the unix terminal....great take on the theme!

wicht 2015-08-25 16:51

nice idea

rudra 2015-08-25 16:54

Awesome idea and use of the theme. Would love to see this game grow a bit. Very innovative :)

blurryroots 2015-08-25 17:26

Feels very polished. Neat concept. Liked the shell look and feel.

mateus-culpo 2015-08-25 23:07

WOW nice game man, interesting idea, my world have 127 plants and non human =/ haha

shaw 2015-08-26 10:27

Excellent concept, really well thought out, really enjoyed the game. Would love to see this with some keyboard tapping sounds when you type. Excellent job.

perecil 2015-08-26 12:03

Very innovative. You should add more options to control the humans (send them asteroids if they turn bad :D). A godlike despot :D. Oh, and humans prayers should be received as emails :D (like in Bruce Allmighty).

hotboxgames 2015-08-26 14:23

I really enjoyed the interface, it felt solid, usable and intuitive. I created a few worlds and couldn't really figure out how to make more nice people and were forced to kill everything, I suppose I really am a monster...

mrnyarlathotep 2015-08-26 14:37

nice idea executed well.
As others have said, if you come back to this it would be nice to play up the strategy aspect and let people individually balance plants / animal / people / good / evil

somnium 2015-08-26 16:11

Very interesting take on the theme, very innovative - I don't think I've ever played a console based God game before.

It was enjoyable to play, and could have been even more interesting with more options.

cheesyramen 2015-08-27 10:23

I would like to think that some creator out there is entering in stuff through command-line. Interesting twist on the theme!

mantis 2015-08-27 12:32

Cool game!

Well, we had a nice run.

randoman 2015-08-27 13:07

Interesting entry. I like your concept and execution. Well done!

beardogames 2015-08-27 17:55

I'm a sucker for a good command line so I really enjoyed this game. It's a great take on the theme too! PS I actually found the sound of the keys to be soothing myself, nice touch there. Nicely done!!

napoleon 2015-08-30 13:44

oh, i get it.

abcdef65g 2015-09-05 03:21

The funny thing is me and my friends were discussing just yesterday the concept of the world working like a gaming engine, and some celestial game designer handling things trough small bits of information in something akin to a program language. Would suck to be a deity if you still have to work with a terminal like that. Couldn't last long in it but had fun!

tonny_elhond 2015-09-11 04:56

very well constructed. I liked CMD aesthetic and its fun "programming" to play. nice done!
