LD28 — You Only Get One

A shark ate your other oar: A game made in one hour. by Sestren 2013-12-19T01:38:00

Kinda fun, really short. It was easier once I found out you could paddle forwards. I don't think it's a good idea to let the shark kill you as soon as the game runs. There should be a small safe zone to let the player figure out the controls.

Our Man, Dragon by scoopsy 2013-12-19T01:34:00

I couldn't protect the village. It seemed like I only had a little time to burn the first orc camp before the next few spawned, and if I tried to burn the orcs, I would set the village on fire. Then the villagers died, the orcs stopped attacking, but the game didn't tell me I lost.

This could be really fun if it felt more finished. I think if the dragon was faster, the orcs were further away, and there was a way to attack without causing friendly fire, it could be a great game.

The Replicorp Heist by porglezomp 2013-12-19T01:07:00

Could not get it working as it requires Unity Web Player.

One Life For Dead by Brunodev 2013-12-19T01:41:00

For some reason, the links are not working for me. Couldn't play it, couldn't rate it.

The Lone Tower by Masadow 2013-12-15T19:49:00

Got to 15,560. Really fun but I would suggest that the tower moves as close to the cursor as possible. Right now when the cursor is over a road, the tower completely stops moving, so it feels like it's lagging.

Incomplete by Erkberg 2013-12-19T00:59:00

I like the concept but despite trying every possible combination of objects, I couldn't pass the second screen. Even the first was very difficult, I've never seen someone fell a tree with a hammer so I wasn't expecting that. The shoe was a red herring?

Light of Happiness by Katamori 2013-12-19T00:49:00

At first I was very confused, I thought I was supposed to click on the tiles that flashed. Then I reread the rules. I don't see any tiles marked by colons, but they are marked with commas. By the end, it was pretty easy because I would just make a square that took a long time to degrade. The cellular automaton was fun to play with, but the text was a little hard to understand.

YOGO Letter! by hbocao 2013-12-19T01:06:00

Was not able to run it. "Not a valid Win32 application". I guess it needs the C# runtime?

Vita by Ludusamo 2013-12-19T01:01:00

Hey I appreciate people making games for GNU / Linux, I will try to get this running when I'm back in Xubuntu.

Byte Raider by ReactorScram 2013-12-19T02:10:00

Scipio: If you run "ldd" on the executable it will tell you which libraries you need. I might try to put together a with-libraries package later, but I can't guarantee it will work.

Byte Raider by ReactorScram 2013-12-23T15:54:00

Masadow, it should be fixed now.

I'm trying to debug some high network usage on my server, and I moved HTTP to port 90. The new link should work.

Jim's Night At Work by sahoskins1 2013-12-19T01:22:00

It sounds like there could be some cool plot going on in the background. The 3D modelling work leaves something to be desired, but I like what you did with the bathroom.

I'm having the same problem as the other guy, where the notes don't clear from the screen.

Stretch Bouquet Point by mister_morris 2013-12-19T01:48:00

I was really looking forward to this, but the Windows / OS X / GNU / Linux download is just a download of the HTML page and it still requires Unity Web Player.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Rewire by drilltail 2014-05-01T01:42:00

Music is good, the graphics are really cute. Wish it wasn't made with Flash. Could use some sound effects.

I defeated the boss but lost the ability to walk. Does my character live in a wheelchair after the game ends?

Thermonuclear Mutant Bunker Survival by YSelf Tool 2014-05-01T00:56:00

I didn't realize the ammo was finite so I sprayed a bit. (Aiming is hard) Got 39 points and died.

Could have used sound effects and some background art.

Spacehack by Gallefray 2014-05-01T00:33:00

@shasharala: If you download LOVE and drag the .love file on top of love.exe, it will play.

I couldn't figure out the stairs either, roguelikes aren't really my thing but at least I cleared out the first level.

I like that the monsters flee when they're low on health, but in my game they just ran into a wall and stopped without returning my attacks. If they were cornered, I expected they would fight to the death.

Fragment by rxi 2014-05-01T00:21:00

I think I missed some of the text boxes, I only got 4 or so. I did another playthrough where I went straight up and only got the first text box. So until then, I assumed you were spawning them in whatever direction the player was moving, in some clever way.

Adventures in Down and Up by hnjslater 2014-05-01T00:10:00

The jump physics required some learning but I got to the win screen.

I'm going to give you middling scores for now since you're my first rating.

Hyper Spike Smash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!!!!!!!!!! by Jacob123 2014-04-29T01:22:00

The symbolism alone makes "Portal 2" look like Windows Solitaire by comparison.

Operation Nereids by ReactorScram 2014-05-01T01:19:00

arrogant.gamer: Yeah this is because I use "dofile" which doesn't look inside the Zip file. You have to copy screen-data.lua into the directory the game runs from, the .love file alone isn't enough.

Operation Nereids by ReactorScram 2014-05-03T00:36:00

arrogant.gamer: DesertRock said it would be okay to patch this since it doesn't affect gameplay. So now I've uploaded a version 3.0.1 of the LOVE file which should work on any LOVE 0.9

Beneath The Surface by NoTrueSpaceman 2014-05-01T01:17:00

I thought "Web" would be JavaScript. I don't have Unity Web Player so I can't rate this, sorry.

Dr. Pepsi Marriage Consultant by Thingo Studios 2014-05-01T00:46:00

Amazing. The graphics are kind of weak and the boss could use some feedback. It took me a few tries before I realized the boss sprite was slowly changing. I thought I had to stand right next to the boss.

Funny as hell, though.

Deep by ahmeni 2014-05-01T01:59:00

Can you make the Web link say "Web - Unity" or something? I don't have Unity Web Player.

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Drop of Light by Snuux 2014-08-30T17:30:00

I couldn't figure out what to do, the ball keeps flying off screen and I have no way to retrieve it. After a few seconds I die. Good music, though.

Resurrection Machine by ReactorScram 2014-08-30T15:43:00

It's not immediately clear, but the powerup makes you invincible. It's free points.

Cat planet by lorniebear 2014-08-24T20:53:00

This better live up to the original cat planet that raocow played.

The Catapult by OinkIguana 2014-08-30T18:00:00

Very cool. The layout of the world doesn't make much sense, I had collected 4 vines and seen the rock before I even got to the catapult. At the very beginning I had to guess which house was even mine. It took me a while to pick up the crowbar because I had to be standing away from it but facing it.

Someone else mentioned that the controls feel laggy, I think it's because of the grid system. Pokemon seems to get away with it, but I think their player moves faster. I would have been fine if the player's run speed was the default walk speed.

I really want to know what's in Ms. Wren's garage now.

Schizophrenia by Sogomn 2014-08-25T02:38:00

I'm on 64-bit Arch and the directions text is messed up for me, too.

Also, if you are thinking of multiple personalities, that's actually called Dissociative Identity Disorder. Schizophrenia is more like delusions, paranoia, and hallucinations.

It's pretty hard, I got stuck somewhere after the falling blocks. They would often fall before I was ready to jump.

The Dream Smuggler by BeardaNeerz 2014-08-30T18:17:00

The screenshot is very promising, but I couldn't get it to run. Does it need .NET or something? I'm using a pretty old Windows XP install...

Jacob's Ladder by howkj1 2014-08-30T18:06:00

I couldn't get the Windows port to run, it said it's missing a data folder?

Jacob's Ladder by howkj1 2014-08-30T19:45:00

It ran this time, but I think I got stuck in the opening part. There were a lot of walls and huge red blocks, and a small blue block, and I could see angels ascending and descending in the distance, but none of the doors opened and I couldn't get to the ladder.

Mike and the Quest for the Missing Ham by TeamFaceDesk 2014-08-30T18:14:00

I couldn't figure out what to do. I eventually got the player character to walk in from the left side of the screen, but after lots of running, jumping, and clicking on things, I couldn't figure out how to progress.

ASKL by thedashdude 2014-08-30T18:28:00

So when you press A, he switches, when you press K he stops switching, when you hold L he stays up, and S I already forgot. Interesting idea.

MID by heterosapiens 2014-08-30T18:32:00

I think I won? It didn't say. Also yeah negative time.

Bacon Installer by badlydrawnrod 2014-08-30T17:38:00

I got to 1685. It was extra hard because I'm left-handed so I usually play with arrow keys, I had to play cross-handed to get my right hand onto wasd.

Also the pigs are really easy to squish, I didn't realize the tractor beam was automatic, and rescuing 10 pigs is either too difficult if you haven't killed the enemies or too tedious if you have. The enemies use the pigs as meat shields, even though they're on different Z planes. The helicopters are hard to dodge and it used my CPU heavily.

Kind of fun, though. The "bacon" voiceover got annoying the second time I heard it.

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

The Murderdome by RyanNielson 2014-12-09T13:27:00

Seems pretty responsive. I only got to Level 5. The game is pretty fast-paced.

Snowmen King Of The Hill by xeon06 2014-12-11T00:56:00

Just played it with alvarop and drnick. The trick is to just move in a big circle and dodge everything, your opponents will out themselves.

Very fun.

The Drinking Game by ReactorScram 2014-12-11T01:19:00

Hey SuperDisk. I'm pretty sure the source .zip can be played as a .love file?

And yes the graphics are cartoony but the feels are real.

LD33 — You are the Monster

Monstaaaaar! by ilikescifi 2015-08-24T23:38:00

Worked fine in Arch Linux WINE. Didn't hear any audio, though.

I didn't realize at first that the monster would run automatically when the timer ran out.

Burden by TimBeaudet 2015-08-27T00:00:00

The graphics are cool although I don't quite understand the ghost's kill / attack animations. The parallax is especially good, wish I'd put some in my game.

Around 620 meters, I figured out you can cancel each animation with the other, so then I could force her to land a jump early or break out of a slide to go into another slide. Very much an "a-ha" moment.

Also didn't understand why there was a potato, an angry birds logo and two other icons that can't be clicked or selected.

Already mentioned on IRC, but I didn't know you can hold up or down to jump / slide farther.

A Series Of Totally Legit Events by Slashee the Cow 2015-08-24T22:41:00

I got the boring-ass ending by doing nothing. Maybe I'll try it again later.

Succubus by ReactorScram 2015-09-15T01:18:00

#61 for Audio for beatboxing a metal song that was released the day of the LD.

You'll find the monster when it's over by pi_pi3 2015-08-24T12:51:00

I got it to run on OpenJDK 8 but there's no graphics.

The Real MVP by cheapmecha 2015-08-24T23:41:00

"If you can't run this Entry, please leave a comment saying so and explaining why"

Can't run it because it's actually a Unity game and I don't want to install Unity Web Player.

Sex monster by Sublustris 2015-08-24T12:42:00

It's Flash :(

Last Chance For Bernie by Tijn 2015-08-29T04:28:00

Yeah Bernie felt slow but once I got the hang of it, it wasn't bad.

I got up to 5.

SPACE JUNK by pixelgriffin 2015-08-24T23:54:00

Good but like I said on IRC, the bullets move way too slow.

Also I didn't realize but is the blue orb the only vulnerable part? It's hard to tell whether I was taking damage.

I killed all the humans but I couldn't beat the boss cause my guns basically fire in random directions (and the humans had destroyed everything except one particle cannon, I started with two guns and two cannons)

Lure.Lair.Lunch by daveh 2015-08-24T23:34:00

Had some trouble playing it in WINE on Arch Linux: http://i.imgur.com/msqeTqY.png

The text is garbled and I got stuck. The hero didn't want to shoot that second monster. Also I couldn't figure out if he could jump or not.

Poopie the Flying Monster by Sadale 2015-08-29T03:22:00

Took a while but I finally won. At a certain point you can just click as fast as possible and shit fury all over the pedestrians. It feels good.

The police are kind of annoying.

St. George's Academy for Monster-Slaying Lasses by AlariSilver 2015-08-26T03:53:00

I played through a couple of extremes and got two bad endings.

I'm not usually that big on VNs but a short one is fun to play.

bloody tentacles by zuurr 2015-08-26T04:45:00

Hard but I just barely won. The tentacle animation and graphics are very cool.

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

S.E.N.T.I.N.E.L. by rnlf 2015-12-29T23:48:00

Not gonna rate this one on humor. But it's good.

Scroll Bars by Scipio Xaos 2015-12-15T02:29:00

Extremely hard and emasculating

LD35 — Shapeshift

Scrapshaper by the31 2016-04-23T02:33:00

I am victorious! This was a fun game, I want to make one just like it.

There should be a small hit noise when the player hits an enemy though, or at least when an enemy dies. Otherwise I can't tell if I'm on target or not.

Facade by euske 2016-04-20T05:09:00

I couldn't get past the "Their battles are fierce" and I have to go to bed now.

Overall I liked it. The AI infighting is really cool, and the shapes are easy to read.

It is hard to tell sometimes which shape I am, when I'm in a formation. Also the pathfinding was iffy in some places.

Elemental Shift by TimBeaudet 2016-05-04T17:54:00

I got to 1395. I feel like there is no way to regenerate health? the screenshake and hit audio is good. Kinda wish the playing field looked more interesting but the graphics are easy to understand which is something many games struggle with during LD.

Souleater by Crefossus 2016-05-04T23:34:00

I liked it but I didn't understand the ending. Everything was basically good. Reminds me of my platformer, "The Messenger"

Bortman by Rscar 2016-04-18T01:38:00

This one looks like a winner

Pitch Black by ReactorScram 2016-08-20T02:20:00

dollarone: I might know why it's black on some GPUs. I have fixed that bug on Pandora / Linux and it will hit Windows next time I have WINE running.

Don't Race Me Or My Son Ever Again by Idkfawin32 2016-04-23T02:11:00

The graphics are cool. You should write a blog post on how they work, if you haven't already.

EnergyShift by Miziziziz 2016-05-09T23:06:00

Really wanted to play but the GNU/Linux x64 build didn't run for me, and when I played the Windows build in WINE, none of the graphics displayed except the flashing magenta / red screen, and there was some music.

Usually Unity games work in WINE, dunno what happened.

Couldn't rate it, sorry. Screenshots are pretty.

Railroad Shifter by dollarone 2016-05-06T15:54:00

Really good except for the timer, as everyone else said. Level 1 was incredibly hard because resetting gave a 10 second timer. Level 2 was a lot easier. Level 3 looked easy because there was more space to work and I could stop the trains, but I got bored before I could finish it.

Barber Blues by Tijn 2016-05-04T18:00:00

Lots of fun but I only got 4 guys. Do I have to click on them to bring them into the shop? Was I taking too long? And I kind of wish I could see the reference photo while working but I guess that's the challenge.

I gave it a good score because the graphics were funny and the audio was really good.

Escape from the Dungeon of Snor by Weeping Rupee 2016-05-04T23:18:00

I had the cat eat me a couple times and I got to be a fairy which was really cool.

I got stuck after getting the sink water, couldn't find where to use it. It wouldn't put out the furnace nor the candles on the wall. There is a lot detail (like reading material by the toilet) but it's hard to tell how things interact at a glance.

I give it a good rating for graphics and overall. The dialog seemed to advance in random ways regardless of what I was doing at the time.

Shifting Shapes by g12345 2016-05-04T23:28:00

Could be fun with some "juice" like animations, sound effects when you shift or when a row disappears.

The only really annoying issue is the autorepeat on the keys. It should be 1 tap == 1 shift. I got to 400 score before I kind of got bored.

VampShift: The Bloodening by abaines 2016-04-23T02:17:00

The controls are unforgiving, and it was hard to get a handle on the rhythm when I would respawn with the left or right arrow still held down. It was difficult to get the timing right for tapping up as a bat, especially since I was panicking from having only two seconds of life at any point.

But the particles and sound were good, and you followed the theme, so I'm ranking those highly

LD36 — Ancient Technology

Jet Racing 3 by ReactorScram 2016-08-30T01:53:00

I haven't got the Linux binary working on other computers yet, much less anything else, shoulda used LOVE huh

Jet Racing 3 by ReactorScram 2016-09-01T02:26:00

Win32 build is up. Already had to fix the shaders, please report any errors as my computer is not that strict on what code it runs.

Jet Racing 3 by ReactorScram 2016-09-01T03:56:00

I can't reasonably get the shadow mapping to work, so I just taped in some projected stencil shadows.

LD37 — One room

Haunted Room by TimBeaudet 2017-01-02T18:17:00

Pretty fun. It seems like the optimal strategy is obvious but I like playing it.

It could use more animations and transitions and sounds, maybe the monsters could scream when they are killed. The use of randomness to make the monster die / approach in random order is good.

What's That Word? by ReactorScram 2016-12-14T23:57:00

Fixed now. The server rebooted and I forgot to run some fixing script

LD38 — A Small World

Toy Run by TimBeaudet 2017-05-06T00:12:34Z

The graphics and audio are good. Your artist's style reminds me of Another World.

But I think the controls are too complicated. I have only played the least common denominator runner games, so I was expecting to hold "right" and sometimes hit "up" or "down". In practice, I couldn't jump fast enough because I forgot there was a double jump. Then I would jump too high and hit things. Then I would duck and hit something else. It doesn't seem like I can put the player where I want reliably. I think it needs fewer features, or least an easier easy mode to start with.

Wrong Delivery by g12345 2017-05-10T23:38:18Z

I got 4 powerups and the key and gave up at 19:30 cause I couldn't figure out how to get the package.

That instant restart was definitely the biggest negative. I had that issue on Messenger and that's why I purposely put a huge respawn delay into Vegicide.

Angelic Design by Joror 2017-05-06T00:04:02Z

Here is what I wrote while playing: - I don't know what I should be doing - Exalting is a good thing, right? Why do the races decline when I exalt a hero? - The races have no pictures so I have to read all those words and then try to remember which races have which traits and somehow map that to the challenges presented. - The coloring of the words doesn't tell me much. Strong is orange and yellow is weak?

In short, the game makes me feel dumb, and although that may be accurate, it's not how I want to feel. I gave up at 176 AD. I had made some humans and exalted an eagle halfling but I don't know what I was actually meant to be doing.

For me it needs more handholding - Games should generally start with a small "safe zone" where the player can learn the mechanics one by one without being punished. This game seemed to drop me right into a genre I've never played.

Vegicide by Reactor-Scram 2017-05-01T12:53:33Z

Not sure why. It's just C++ and SDL 1.2. I'm working on an HTML5 port but I don't have a timeline for it yet.

Edit to add: The HTML5 port is live

Vegicide by Reactor-Scram 2017-05-12T22:40:03Z

@ajayajaytjayjajyajytjayj:

Chalk that up to "it worked fine in my browser" and this being my second browser game.

I patched it so Shift and Space can sub for Ctrl, and updated the page. My bad

Vegicide by Reactor-Scram 2017-05-15T00:21:59Z

Idk there's no tab completion so I just guessed on how to spell it.

That's another bug, the pumpking is the final boss and on web it doesn't show the victory screen.

Myrddin by cogcomp 2017-05-07T16:12:58Z

Good:

- I liked the music - I like to see people write their own engines - Reminds me of lego rock raiders in some fashion

Needs work:

- The graphics were sort of hard to read. The floor had a lot of contrast and looked like aluminum foil - I personally don't care for DirectX but it ran fine - I kept getting chased by birds, they would gang up on me and if I ran away I'd have to turn to face them to use the hammer. I couldn't tell if I was damaging them, and I kept losing health. The potions didn't seem to do anything and I don't know what the item slots were for. - I think it just badly needs a tutorial. There should be a safe start zone where I'm required to use the hammer and an item before I get near any monsters. - The hammer seems to have a dead zone. I see in the youtube video that if you use it properly, it shoves the monster back, but in my case the monsters were right behind me and by turning to face them, I lost any ground I had and was immediately hit. - I'm left-handed so I had to play with my hands crossed to use WASD. Many games map WASD and arrow keys to a virtual D-pad to resolve this.

Hi Pluto! by nekoballs 2017-05-07T03:06:11Z

I like it! It was fun and easy to understand. The sounds were okay but not great. Maybe with some animations or particles it would be more fun to watch. I died around 340 and quit there.

RGB by madmaw 2017-05-06T00:18:27Z

This is super-cool. There's an easy tutorial (which most entries lack), and the concept is consistent with instant feedback on whether you're right or wrong. When it added the secondary effects like flickering objects and boulders pushing other boulders it made me think of Braid. I love it.

The only thing that's a bit rough is that it's hard to memorize all the color combos. Maybe you can change the art so each channel also has a particular pattern, and when they fit together the white is solid? idk.

One other thing I would say is, there's no prompt to continue when I beat a level, and the animations are a bit slow to play so it feels like the input is lagging. It looks like you are probably just playing a tween so maybe a tween function that kicks in faster is all you need.

Glade in the Sky by AdroitConceptions 2017-05-06T00:14:35Z

I don't like that it automatically linked to my Google account. I guess that is the peril of keeping Google logged in on the same browser profile as I'm judging LD entries.

A Tiny Place by grahhhhhhhhh 2017-05-07T16:15:40Z

You asked for criticism, so I'll tell you: I didn't play the game because I don't like Flash and don't have it installed. Sorry. I didn't rate it either.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Walls by Omiya Games 2021-05-02T16:23:44Z

Fun to play, but I wish arrow keys were supported, and wish I didn't have to re-grab my mouse after each level in the WebGL port

Cosmonoid by neontropics 2021-05-02T16:48:05Z

I couldn't beat the last level, I didn't think of the trick to keep going back to the start to jump.

But I love this game, I probably spent more than 10 minutes playing it. The music is nice, the star background is nice, it was just too much fun flying around with the grapple. And it made me think of "Ender's Game". The enemy's gate is down.

But I wish I could see the crazy loopy trail I must have made while flying around the last level. Maybe I'll rip this off for the next jam and add that.

Descend by almost 2021-05-01T19:44:20Z

Pretty fun but had to dock a point for patching the game after the deadline

Guard Duty by frozenfire92 2021-05-02T16:53:49Z

The music is cool but I couldn't get past Level 2.

The timer means that the player never starts in a safe zone (or has one) and it's too easy to get stuck on a wall while jumping, which should be impossible.

Then to restart the game I have to wait a bunch and take my hands off the keyboard to click the mouse.

The graphics are nice. The game has good elements, just needed more polish to make it easier to stay engaged.

The graphics were cool but I couldn't get into the role-playing aspect. The game wouldn't accept "myself" as the right answer

This Goes Deeper... by The Enigma 2021-05-01T02:29:16Z

The game didn't scale to my window correctly, so a lot of the text and buttons were cut off

OceanMen by Talia 2021-05-01T02:54:02Z

Love it. Would be a little better if the camera led the diver instead of lagging it.

Also "Help the diver to make the boaters happy" confused me at first, I read it as "(Help the diver) to make the boaters happy" and I thought I was going to bring items down to the diver. But it's actually "Help (the diver to make the boaters happy)" The "to" throws it off. Just "Help the diver make the boaters happy" is what I'd say.

But yeah, loved the audio and graphics.

Beneath by Rewzu 2021-05-01T02:22:04Z

The graphics are cool but I didn't get far because I found the mechanics really hard:

- I can't fire while I'm in the air. Often I'd end up with an enemy beneath me and just fall onto them helplessly - Because the enemies can destroy blocks, I can't choose when or where to engage them. I ended up charging a jump and waiting for them to come to me. But if my explosion didn't kill them all, I just fell onto the survivor and died immediately. Maybe multiple hit points would have helped? - The ores don't do anything?

Deep Dive by Lossypi 2021-05-03T02:05:17Z

Nailed the graphics and mood, but it feels like the gun doesn't do anything. Sometimes the animals avoid me, sometimes they attack, but I have no input in what happens.

But I like that the grid is visible even between sonar scans. Really got the sense of "I'll be okay as long as I pay attention" even when I can't see the ground.

I wrote this after I lost. I might give it another go but the game makes me feel just a little bit _too_ helpless.

Edit: Okay, also sometimes the controls would flip shit and make me swim towards a shark instead of shoot at it. The mantra rays are never repelled by bullets even though they're huge targets and I'm definitely hitting them. I accidentally bounced between two walls like a pinball and lost almost all my health.

And I have no idea what the scanner does. Does it point me towards the goal? It just seems to return a ping in any direction. Am I supposed to be going down? The aspect ratio is very wide for a game where I want to go down.

Edit: I thought maybe the scanner would repel certain animals? But no. Once a manta ray or shark locks onto me, I eventually lose health. I can't outrun them, shooting and scanning does nothing. I loved the first minute of the game but now I kinda hate it.

Deeper Daddy by AguaHervida 2021-05-03T01:34:03Z

Graphics are wonderful, except the camera keeps hiding behind rocks so I can't see myself. Should be more top-down.

And it keeps saying "They died" and I don't understand if throwing the eggs is good or bad since they're fertilized and I'm supposed to rescue them? And when I throw one, it tips on its end and shows the billboards like a star, and I thought that meant it splattered and died.

I couldn't beat the game, I kept dying without knowing what I did wrong. Was there a timer?

Under the Surface by Wolfrug 2021-05-01T14:04:13Z

Couldn't click on anything or get WASD / arrow keys to do anything. Might be a bug in Unity WebGL? Also I run my browser small, so the UI was scaled down and partially cropped off.

Didn't end up rating it

Neural Shooter by PatteDeCanaard 2021-05-03T01:42:12Z

I died a few times while figuring out that I had to shoot the red things _and_ avoid the closing rings. But then I got into it and gave it 5 stars on all but mood and innovation.

it's fucking awesome

Neural Shooter by PatteDeCanaard 2021-05-03T01:43:18Z

oh can I download the soundtrack somewhere? Or should I just rip it with a monitor?

The source code link should be tagged as Windows

The music distortion as you go down stairs is really cool.

But the mouse movement is too fast, and I wish it supported arrow keys and didn't pause the game during dialogue

Postal Plunge by ModdingMachine 2021-05-03T02:30:40Z

I liked it a lot. I don't understand what "flibber.exe" is but somehow I beat the game and the ending made me laugh.

I think you are right about difficulty - Game jam games should err on the side of being too easy. It is still fun to play a too-easy game once or twice. It is never fun to play a too-hard game once when I'm supposed to rate 20 games for a jam.

Also, somehow the bizarre weapons and spinning lights and scrolling background reminded me of Einhander. So you got a point for that.

Treasures of Bloom by WeAreDev 2021-05-02T17:09:11Z

Didn't play or rate, it runs really slow on my Core i5-4590's iGPU which ran other games fine

Snake Match by Recher 2021-05-01T14:22:47Z

Inspirational true story of Leon the Professional Fruit-Digesting Snake who in his hubris accidentally swallows the very items he needs to progress in the game, but luckily unlike other snakes he is the first to possess the power of backtracking

PIBE by Mog13 2021-05-02T23:06:59Z

I played it for a while but couldn't get the hang of it. It's hard to judge the fading on the oxygen meter. If you had 4 times as many bubbles that each lasted 1/4th as long, I think it'd be easier to read.

And the speed is very slow and floaty. I died every time I encountered a new kind of enemy.

Deepest fish by JokubasG 2021-05-02T23:20:29Z

I got to 1,000 points and 1,600 meters, and now I'm having an optical illusion... my screen is stretching out vertically!

Very fun at first, I love the discrete lanes that make it easier to dodge. But after I got the angler fish and it got dark, I got bored. The darkness just seems like an annoyance, and the hearts made it so I probably would never lose.

Worm Rampage by StarryNiteGames 2021-05-02T17:23:48Z

Kinda fun but I couldn't see the helicopters when I was underground, so it was impossible to aim. I destroyed them all and then the game just kept going?

Bunker by Escapade 2021-05-02T16:15:19Z

Loved it, the humor reminds me of Portal. Ambient background music and sound effects would have helped a little, but since it's in a browser window I just put on my own music

DeepScape by koalabear 2021-05-02T17:04:31Z

I can't read any of the text because the window is scaled down a lot (I keep my browser about 1000 pixels wide so I can have room for other windows, that's why I targeted my games at like 800x600)

I kept losing health from running into walls, and twice a squid attacked me and I had no way to avoid it or defend myself, because it could go through walls. I don't know what the space bar does because it said "Escape in the instructions" and I'm not sure if it picks up kelp or what?

I didn't die, but the game felt very unfair (I was also losing oxygen, so not only is there wall damage but a timer all the time??) and I quit before getting a 2nd kelp

Maiden Life by Brett_NZ 2021-05-01T02:45:27Z

Graphics were good, could have used background music. "Maiden's life sphere" somehow made me think it was gonna be Touhou-themed. Overall one of the better games I've played tonight, and it runs better than the Unity WebGL games.

Jelly fish game by Neowise06 2021-05-02T22:54:08Z

Also found it difficult, would have liked arrow keys for left-hand controls. (In my games I always just map both WASD and arrow keys so people don't have to choose)

And as a rule of thumb, games should start with the player in a safe zone. I clicked away while the game was loading and the turtle ate me almost instantly. Then I had to learn the controls under time pressure, and eventually gave up
