The graphics never appeared for me. Apparently I made it 600 laps before closing the window. All I saw was the text.
The racing mechanic is pretty solid, responsive controls and good handling, the music is good but kinda not fitting, felt more like I should be fighting things in a dungeon than driving. Weird lag about once every minute, but runs smooth in-between
Fun little game. Reminded me a bit of some really old obscure racing game I used to play on my Windows 95 Pentium1 computer in the 90s.Wish there were some basic AI racers to compete against...
Good sound and feedback all in all. Missing some thrust-effects. Tried to click on the start button with my mouse 6 Times at first =D
Nice physics and graphics!
Game lacks of variability.
Nice entry, keep going!
Pretty good controls and it was decent fun for a few laps. Not sure how it relates to the theme.
Nice, who doesn't love a mario kart SNES style game, nice SFX and Music, although the engine noise was a little harsh. It was fun buto could do with a lap counter or something, but the fact that there was a track editor was really cool, I like the little string it generated for you, I had no idea how to actually play the levels I made though. Also what does MPF 17 mean? :D
Great compo entry! Got a best lap of 33 seconds. I think you can keep remaking it until you are happy with it, looking forward to jet racing 5
This a good base for racing game and good entry for a jam, with physic, driving feeling, music, sounds feedback! Adding layers of game feel, visual effects, sounds and tweaking you can create a really good racing game. Anyway, good job and keep going!
Neat racing game. Reminded me of F-Zero. My best lap was 49 seconds.
Controls and sounds are good I enjoyed my few laps (my best in 29sec)
a surprisingly great entry!! i really really like how the speed/acceleration is implemented, and the physics and the turning is just right. i also really enjoy how the off-road works
the graphics are also not bad and the music is real nice
good job!!
It has simple graphics but the gameplay is good. You also made good track limits enforcement. My best lap is 26.900. I don't know how to play the tracks created in the editor.
It needs one little info in the introduction, to tell that Ctrl is the key for handbrake, that lets you turn faster. I am not accustomed to driving game and did not realize it immediatly.
The activation zone of the checkpoints could be a little bigger. I sometimes pass near a checkpoint without activating it, while I still have the impression I stayed on the road.
I would have loved to destroy something when bumping in the bushes (either my car, or the bushes itself). But we just pass through. Too bad.
I made a little track but did not find how to play with it.
Interesting, I did not expect this reaction. My eyes see 3D low poly graphics but my ears hear 8Bit sounds effects so I keep trying to see graphics that match those sounds effects but they are not there and yet...it surprisingly kind of works - lol.
The inclusion of a track editor is quite amazing. And I'm surprised it seems most of the game seems to be made from a framework than a WYSIWYG 3D game engine like Unity, Unreal, and Godot. It's also feels very, very rough to me. While the graphics aren't too bad, I did find the driving sound effect grating and repetitive. The music didn't help the presentation, either. Like @recher, I would have liked to see a control introduction screen. After learning what the Ctrl key does, it makes the game a lot more playable and enjoyable.
Other parts I found the game needing some polish is the camera movement. While it's good that the camera pans in the direction the player turns, since I adjust my turns frequently by tapping left or right, the jolting movement made me motion-sick. And as a few people above said, I'd like to seem some strategic mechanics mixed in, like drifting and boosting.
It sounds like this is a build-on-top of an existing game, and I certainly would like to see it developed more. It does feel like this entry isn't quite there yet.
