Did I miss something? I hate the soul under the volcano and the game just ended.
the aesthetic is really nice and figuring out what the squirrel power was entertainmed me. Trying to use it off a single pixel ledge kind of sucked though. I actually wanted to know more about this world, which is strange considering I don't usually and the place is literally just blocks. The background and music were just really nice.
I also wasn't sure which other shapes I could change into. One other suggestion would be to have the dialog boxes have some alpha, I wasn't able to see where I was walking when people were talking to me.

I burst out laughing with the pool of child tears bit. Comedic! Did you draw the environment as an image? It had a cool, almost painted look to it. The gliding mechanic reminded me a lot of Sonic 3 and Knuckles.
I kept "dying" under the volcano, so and I wasn't really sure where to go from there, sadly. Otherwise, it was neat to play. I wanted to explore the king's palace in the beginning.

As others have said, the game just ends when you eat the soul under the volcano. Other than that I found it quite nice.
Danbolt - there are two tilemaps (background/foreground), I used tiled to make it.
Getting the volcano soul is the end of the game for now. Thanks for your feedback so far all.

Nice! It had quite an immersive feel to it, especially given the low detailed graphics. Would like it to be longer. Good work!

Great Job on the gameplay and feel of the game, would have loved to see this longer!
I liked the pixelated mood.
Is there only one soul to get because I've played it multiple times now multiple days and still only found the one.
Demogorgon - There are two souls, but the second one just ends the game. I've added a walkthrough png and txt file. Also thanks for trying twice! I'm not sure exactly where you get stuck, but you might be able to get it after looking at those.
For post compo - It would be good to know what the blocking issue is. I have a few ideas to help keep you on the right path, but maybe that's not even the issue.
nice graph but... i do not really understand what to do
Cool style and mood. I like how the music changes when you go into different areas. Funny dialog too. Would love to play a longer version!

Very nice visual style. I was pretty lost on what I was supposed to do.

I enjoyed this a lot. The minimalist graphics and the gorgeous audio combined very nicely to build a distinctive mood. I would happily have played a much longer game in this style.
The NPC comments were also handled well - sketching out an intriguing storyline in short, simple strokes, without interfering with the flow of the gameplay.
The story itself seemed a little arbitrary, especially the abrupt ending, but I understand that a gamejam like this constrains what you can do in that regard.
The actual shapeshifting was great - the flying squirrel power was very cool and enjoyable to use. Potential to build some great puzzles around abilities like this, especially if a few more forms were added.
Altogether, a really accomplished entry with heaps of potential. I really hope you expand this into something fuller - I'd genuinely love to play it.
I liked it but I didn't understand the ending. Everything was basically good. Reminds me of my platformer, "The Messenger"

Liked the aesthetics a lot. Some things weren't well explained, though. Struggled to eat the squirrel's soul for a while. Took 5 tries.
