LD23 — Tiny World

Star Drill by tinymagus 2012-04-28T20:35:00

My goodness, my favorite LD game after reviewing around 50 games. Making it into the core finally was such a thrill that I didn't mind dying there.

Batshit insane, but that makes me love it even more.

Bravo!

Bugs Planet by Cyboot 2012-04-28T20:44:00

I enjoyed it but wasn't exactly sure what I could do to help my bugs thrive versus the others. Once the flowers ran out I definitely had no idea what to do.

Petri by Tomalla 2012-04-28T20:20:00

Sorry, I can't play since I'm on a Mac.

3rd Planet by xillix 2012-04-28T19:36:00

Can't play, Mac user. Looks neat though!

Tiny World Peace by jwolf 2012-04-28T20:24:00

Sorry, I can't play since I'm on a Mac.

Tiny Apocalypse by Thinkofdeath 2012-04-28T20:11:00

I wasn't able to make much progress I'm afraid, perhaps there's more after the game that I'm unable to see.

A Drop of Water by canary40 2012-04-28T19:37:00

Can't play, I'm an Mac user. Sorry!

Rally Mites by siasia 2012-04-26T03:31:00

Unfortunately, couldn't get this up and running on OSX using the included .sh file. Too bad, looked neat

Tiny Card World by Pisti 2012-04-28T19:45:00

Sorry, can't play - on a Mac!

Crandell Stryder by OrangeeZ 2012-04-28T20:38:00

Seemed like fun, but it runs far too slow on my my Mac for me to play I'm afraid.

Giant Apple Pie by mmarcati 2012-04-26T03:28:00

Couldn't find that last shop, but enjoyed it nonetheless! Good job

Earth Is Dying! by Attrition 2012-04-28T19:46:00

Tiny Huge Planet by Jesper Oskarsson 2012-04-28T20:02:00

I'm thrilled to see a board game pop up on Ludum Dare! Good for you, and makes me wonder if BGG should organize something similar for board games.

Have some specific feedback on the game after playing a test round against myself. Overall I think this is a good start but I'd like to see the idea fleshed out further:
* Victory conditions aren't clear. I'm assuming "When last of your planets is gone" but then you don't start with any, so that's a bit odd.
* Are the rules for the "Create a Planet" card the same as for regular planet placement? If so, there's not much point in playing that if could very well help your opponent.
* I find roll-based movement to be really annoying. Coordinating a planetary invasion is VERY challenging as a result.
* I'm assuming units are stackable everywhere and not just on planets?
* Overall, the game is very much a game of chance driven by the die (especially in planet placement). I'd like to see more determinism and less randomization.

Good stuff so far! Keep working on this idea.

tr-3012 by heuermh 2012-04-28T20:14:00

Apparently sound is the magic to make this work, but I didn't get any. (OSX). Also, this spun my CPU into serious overdrive.

Super Planet Crusher Extreme by edg3 2012-04-28T20:14:00

Sorry, I can't play since I'm on a Mac.

World of doors by anthonyl 2012-04-28T20:16:00

As the above had said, crashes at the red door for me.

Tiny World by spilth 2012-04-26T13:27:00

Impressive so far, hope you keep with it. Gravity amused me in the way it works, but I wouldn't change it at all. The map editor overlay was pretty slick

Lauch a rocket by volando 2012-04-28T20:23:00

Interesting idea, but had to quit in order to save my space bar. Also, looks like it isn't loading your music properly.

Sorry, I can't play since I'm on a Mac.

Tiny Bomber by naufr4g0 2012-04-28T20:39:00

Escape by chrismcr 2012-04-28T20:20:00

Would have loved arrow keys to drive instead of mouse, but otherwise solid!

Invasion Of The Trivials by RobProductions 2012-04-28T19:35:00

It's an interesting game. I had the most fun when luring the spheres off ledges to their doom rather than the shooting aspect of it. Perhaps a mechanic to explore in future LD?

Regardless, good job!

Pixels World by Zerod 2012-04-28T19:29:00

Good execution! I liked the zooming effect, but when it happened often I found myself a little nauseated. Well done though!

iblic - I've been looking for ice cream by Nehmulos 2012-04-28T19:44:00

Enjoyed the first level, but unfortunately couldn't jump on the second. I'm in Chrome 18.0.1025 (OSX) Also it slowed WAY down if I touched the crate on the second level.

Tiny Man by Dreauw 2012-04-28T19:41:00

I like the idea a great deal, but I found the mechanics of playing the game challenging. In other words, I found myself challenged more by the controls and interface than by the game itself. Good job though, congrats on the completion!

LD28 — You Only Get One

The Follower by Christina Antoinette Neofotistou 2013-12-18T01:50:00

Neat! I found it a bit hard to play - the dialogs often seemed to disappear before I could read them and my follower died of hunger often. Love the style though, would love to see more of it!

You Only Get To Save One by PEBKAC 2013-12-16T18:00:00

Good effort. I wasn't able to save anyone at the end, but it was still interesting. Impressed that you had time for animations - I fell short of it!

Climber by Kimau 2013-12-18T23:39:00

Fun times. Liked it much more when I discovered the space button.

Shadow Night by ParaPup 2013-12-16T03:31:00

Good work! I couldn't get the Mac standalone to work, but the web version was just fine.

I wanted to go outside but never found a way!

Treasurequest by andrewkennedy 2013-12-16T03:43:00

Very lovely! I would have loved some checkpointing, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Has an almost dreamlike mood

STAR BATTER by CTATZ 2013-12-16T03:35:00

Good work! I loved the spectral batter! Pretty challenging to keep click/dragging on the asteroid.

The planet explosion effect was very neat, would love to know how you did that.

One Legged Jonny by ChuiGum 2013-12-19T01:21:00

Looks neat - I'm on OSX though and can't try it.

Stock Market Simulator by Moochoomon 2013-12-16T03:37:00

Your OSX links to the Windows version. =(

One Minute. One Chance. by jojohnson1 2013-12-16T18:03:00

A neat idea, reminded me of the Win3.1 games of my youth. I was *pretty* sure I didn't actually hit a wall at the end, but it was fun nonetheless

Light of Happiness by Katamori 2013-12-19T01:19:00

Not able to get it running, but it looks neat.

Hidden Prison by javifugitivo 2013-12-19T01:21:00

The Game of Fun by stvr 2013-12-18T01:55:00

Great job family! I love the monster artwork!

I was so proud of myself when I found the way to that chest!

Baldaquin2 by Marcellus 2013-12-16T18:05:00

Interesting. I found the controls *really* difficult but other than that, had a blast playing some dodgeball. =)

Cure the infected! by archaeometrician 2013-12-31T16:23:00

Thanks for your comments on my game and article! I like this a lot - pretty frantic to try and cure them in the first few seconds.

Byte Raider by ReactorScram 2013-12-19T01:20:00

On OSX - a shame, as it looks neat to me.

Dat Pig Yo! by Samsturai22 2013-12-16T03:32:00

Your OSX version is the Windows version. =(

Dat Pig Yo! by Samsturai22 2013-12-16T18:11:00

Thanks for the OSX version. It's dark and lovely, but I can't say I really understood what I was doing. I never saw the pig I was supposed to escort, or the bacon for that matter. So dark!

Wedding Rush by olafsworld98 2013-12-16T18:14:00

Took me a loooong time to get past the first level, didn't know I needed the map. =) Love the hand drawn graphics, he's so happy when he jumps!

One chance to save your ass by occash 2013-12-16T18:01:00

Rocket Fuel by Maskl 2013-12-18T23:36:00

So simple, but I love it! I was elated to finally pull off the rescue.

So well done with so little, really impressive.

You Only Get One Worker by Myyyvothrr 2013-12-18T23:59:00

A slow, relaxed game. I loved the style of the game, reminded me of classics like Castle and Stronghold.

Wifes by celsyum 2013-12-16T18:08:00

Press space to marry/divorce - is that perhaps the best idea of all time? Unique idea, good effort!
