How did you package up the Mac version?
Not sure what I was supposed to do. Nice job on the GUI and interesting graphics.
Took me some time to figure out what I was supposed to do and by the time I did the frame rate dropped and it froze. Could be interesting with a little explanation at the beginning and a frame rate fix.
Tried to play it on a Mac but it just keeps crashing when I start playing.
This was pretty fun! The homegrown sound effects were fun and the multiple tasks/character was cool. Nice job!
Thank you to those who checked it out and those who commented even if you couldn't run it. If you've got Ruby on your OS you can check out the code and run it that way: ruby tinyworld.rb. Might have to do a "gem install bundler" and "bundle install" beforehand...
@xBlinkedx: I tried to make a Windows version but ran into problems when trying to package it up. I should've sorted it out before the contest. It was on my prep list but I never got to it.
@dansludumdare: My problem was that I was really still trying to figure out the framework (Chingu) during the competition and not focused on gameplay. But I at least wanted to go through the submission process so I'm ready for it next time.
Fun little game. I encountered two issues: 1) When trying to enter my name as a high score whatever character I typed would end up repeating. 2) I got stuck on a planet after another one blew up and couldn't do anything except sit around.
It was tought for me to figure out what was going on and the controls seem weird to me. I liked the music (very fitting) and the radar is cool. I think some sprite replacement would help solidify what's going in the game.
Nicely put together little sandbox game, especially the music :-D I figured out that you can jump and place blocks underneath you, but it seems limiting that you can't dig to the side of yourself?
Fun little game. I was a little confused by the key-remapping blocks and found it a bit difficult to manage in my brain once I figured it out.
I had to fight with the controls in order to activate the terminals which became frustrating enough to not want to read them all :-/ I suggest turning off mouselook and mapping keys to turning.
Excellent! This is exactly what I was hoping it would be from the screenshot/description.
The only problem I had was with the collision detection on the single tile corridors. Was getting stuck a lot.
It would be cool if there were some "super combo" messages and stuff with bonus points.
Great job!
Nice art and interesting concept. Might be better with different sounds for things happening. Just kind of clicked randomly and eventually got free.
I really liked the music. The first game was interesting. Then playing Tetris was a bit off-putting. Got to the third game and couldn't determine what the red blocks were doing for me. Since they were red I assumed they were bad. Interesting idea though!
This is well done. Very simple to play but still challenging. Not sure the music fits with the setting though...
Nice job! I got up to the part with the "triple fire" turrets but couldn't manage to get up to that switch. Would be nice if there was a way to show which way the triangle is facing.
Challenging. I like the music and art style. But it gets super frustrating after a while. I got the save point right before the "Present" for the Fix key and was getting pretty frustrated.
Also if you play in a browser with a white background it's hard to tell where the world ends and the browser background beings.
Tried to play this on my Mac but it wanted me to install X11.
This was a fun, complete, great looking game. My only complaint is that some of the messages were hard to read because they were blocked by the Pixel Score.
Was cute and well done but could use more hipster phrases.
Thanks for all the feedback! I fixed a small bug - score/item count now stays on the screen and doesn't move with the map.
Another minor update - updated the libgdx JARs to the latest nightlies which should allow you to just double-click the JAR on Macs to start the game rather than from the command-line.
I like the graphics and the audio but the jumping/movement was a bit spastic for me. Is there some way for me to control where the ghost is dropping the brick bombs?
Well it's definitely a minimalistic game. Works well and is definitely challenging.
Oooodahlin ahhdoolaaooohhhinnn!
Fun but tough little game! Loved the chanting and the circles. Struggled to keep my summoner behind my shield, though!
I love me a marble game and I love that you went with a cel-shaded style. I managed to get to all the campfires and tried for too long to get that last strawberry!
What a wacky and fun game :-D
I think there's a lot of promise here. I really like the look of the cars and the colors. Some audio feedback for when you're actually affecting the other cars would be helpful. I went into this just assuming it was a racing game so I was just trying to get past everybody (and also wondering why we didn't all start together or where the checkpoints were!)
It could definitely use some music to get things pumping! Let me know if you're looking for some music tracks for this game: https://polymonic.com/
Pretty impressive for a game jam game! The voice overs were a bit flat but by the middle of the game I started to suspect they were generated. I did end up finishing it, though I almost quit while trying to find the propeller. It was hard to discern which was the "main villa" on the map. I thought it was the mansion for a while.
I think with some polishing up you could release this on Steam for a couple of bucks.
I liked the look of the enemies and the creatures I summoned. It was hard to tell when I could and couldn't summon the different types. I also wasn't sure when they were taking or dealing damage. I think either some health bars or audio feedback would help me understand that.
I did manage to defeat the boss, though!
Cute little game! I do wish there was a way to play it full screen and make it scale - it was tiny on my screen.
My main request is to make it easier to restart after dying. Seems I had to quit and restart the application every time.
