I love this. I am not smart enough! :)

souldeux 2017-04-24 03:58

This is great!

turncoda 2017-04-24 04:20

Whoa, I found something that's not a carrot!

bgw 2017-04-24 05:33

The rocks are a bit tedious to push around, but otherwise, I love it!

isllael 2017-04-24 06:01

I really really enjoy it!! At first I was completely lost, thinking that was something wrong ("maybe it's glitched") and I almost gave up. But after solving the first puzzle I just couldn't stop playing it. I love exploration and puzzle games.

vegevan 2017-04-24 10:32

The game is really good looking, and i love bunnies haha Really nice idea ! Took me a while before understanding the world wasn't that small in facts You did a great job !

torcado 2017-04-24 17:45

Thanks for the kind comments everyone! :rabbit:

fedor 2017-04-25 11:39

When I saw the bunny :rabbit: I knew I want to play this game. It's really cool. I like puzzle games so it was fun to play. I've not finished yet, but saved link to the game to come back to it when voting begins. :ballot_box:

axoona 2017-04-25 23:27

great entry! it's really impressive: a small open world on animated sphere with self explainatory puzzles.

shodanon 2017-04-26 18:03

At first sight this looks like it's going to be one of the compo high scorers if not the winner. I love the style and puzzles. I love fuzzy bunnies, as most people do. But I can't stand the framerate or the presentation of this game. The fish-eye effect makes me neuseous, actually. Perhaps making the "bunosphere" a bit larger would alleviate that effect. A great technical feat, nonetheless.

lacemattley 2017-05-01 09:22

The look of this is magnificent! Love the bunnies.

adamalexander 2017-05-01 10:57

Really nice interesting graphics! I love the way that all the objects appeared over the horizon. It was a bit weird getting to the edge of the map though.

yami-no-tenshi-8 2017-05-01 11:45

I spend a little time on this game and I am really impressed of its quality. The usage of 2D elements to simulate a 3D world was really smart, reminding me a bit of Okami. The gameplay was responsive as well and the puzzles were well thought ! I just didn't understand the timetable thing and got it solved randomly

Amazing work on this entry, congratulations !

markusfisch 2017-05-01 11:51

Now that's a cool idea! And the graphics are so cute. Really nice to play!

fedor 2017-05-01 13:30

I have now also rated your game.

torcado 2017-05-01 15:29

@fedor i appreciate that! It'd be really nice if everyone who already played would give it a rating, but i understand most people probably won't come back to this page haha. either way, thanks for anyone who plays and rates :rabbit:

iwa 2017-05-01 18:02

The spherical projection of a flat map is really disturbing but it works great! Well done.

cooby 2017-05-01 18:08

Great job. Unique exploration mechanic and built perfectly for the theme. It's like Myst for bunnies.

sebasrez 2017-05-01 22:22

Very cool and great idea with the aesthetics. They were slightly trippy going through them, but the framerate was great for me. There is so much to do and find which makes for a fun puzzle game. Thanks for making it

makenai 2017-05-01 23:50

Super cool! Great graphics and I had fun playing. This is one of my favorites so far. I wish I had better directional sense.

martenscedric 2017-05-01 23:51

Love the art, but I am not too sure where to go, I often get blocked by invisible walls!

kantieno 2017-05-02 01:39

Really enjoyed this entry! The pseudo-3d was really well done and worked well with the art! Overall a solid entry!

supermsp10 2017-05-02 02:30

The pixels graphics for this are great. The trees look great. Also, the planets rotating looks together with the moving landscape is really aesthetically pleasing. But, the objective is not clear and takes quite some time before finding my way around.

akirassasin 2017-05-02 02:45

Nice landscape and atmosphere! With some music it will certainly be a blast to play around. You might want to make the invisible walls visible, or wrap around the map.

chris-delta 2017-05-02 03:24

Very pretty! While hunting through the mazes and for scattered puzzle pieces is somewhat frustrating, the visuals and the mystery of the tight field of view were plenty to keep me engaged while exploring!

torcado 2017-05-02 03:27

I agree, having the walls be visible would be better! But I put in the walls at literally the last minute, I definitely wouldn't have had time to place a ton of sprites. Sorry!

lino 2017-05-02 04:15

While I generally don't enjoy this type of game I found the atmosphere to be excellent, and the projection of the map was cool and kind of trippy. The way sprites wrap around the planet is extremely appealing.

impbox 2017-05-02 04:22

Looks great! Although made me feel a little sick after playing for a while, i think because of the sprite rotation. Needs some music and sound! Pushing the rocks in any direction but straight isn't very fun, i really liked the maze section, that worked great, more of that would have been nice! Some way to leave a mark on the ground for navigation would be nice. And definitely make the map wrap around, hitting those edges really broke the immersion. Great job though!

joatski 2017-05-02 04:33

I loved this game, fun world to explore with varied puzzle goals and a great aesthetic. I don't actually know exactly how I solved the last puzzle (the two compasess; I'd gotten all the numbers to light up and I was near the large bolder, tabbed over to write some more here, and tabbed back and it had moved), but otherwise I finished with all the carrots.

As others have said, the invisible walls were a little bit frustrating (more because there are some areas where nothing is on the horizon and I can't get a sense of whether or not I'm even moving anymore). Making them visible would have worked but having a bit of texture on the ground that changes as you move would have also solved it.

I was jonsing for some additional reward when I got items, even a simple bfxr coin beep would have been nice :)

balthazaar 2017-05-02 05:08

Wow! Never played a puzzle game quite like this before. It contains a huge amount of content! Got really frustrated in the maze. Fun game!

rubyleehs 2017-05-02 05:16

Very cool idea. Played it ~30 mins and got frustrated in the maze. It seems that whenever there are lots of trees/sprites on screen the movement becomes very jerky.

Otherwise, loved it!

cosmic-adventure-squad 2017-05-02 05:40

I'm impressed with the sheer size of the world and the number of puzzles you were able to include for a compo submission. The art was pleasant although the spherical projection was a bit nauseating at times. I had a lot of fun exploring the planet. Perhaps not every sprite should be billboarding; the chests and doors could stay still. Also there should be some bounds at the ends of the world, or have it wrap to the other end of the world to complete the planet metaphor.

Overall great work!

pranjalbisht 2017-05-02 06:07

That's some cool programming, projecting a flat world in a 3D view like that! Got very confusing at times though, because you couldn't circle around the planet.

stevenjmiller 2017-05-02 06:08

Terrific game! The art and effects are spectacular, and add a lot to the game. I do wish the puzzles were focused a little less on trial and error, but overall this was fantastic!

torcado 2017-05-02 06:28

@stevenjmiller I appreciate it! Though, I am curious about what you mean by "trial and error" focused puzzles. Each puzzle has a distinct solution, and in fact are intended to be beaten without accidentally "solving" them, but it's easy to do that so I don't blame anyone.

aeveis 2017-05-02 07:02

Pretty fun! I think I still have one puzzle left that is time related (?). It ran a bit slower for me when there were a lot of trees, but pretty visually cool. Perhaps having the player collect the carrots verses just revealing it, but that's pretty minor. Great job!

elsiana-eaves 2017-05-02 07:04

Very pretty, puzzling and a pleasant experience. The art was pretty. The game actually had me stumped all the way through it. I'll definitely tell my friends about it. Try out my game! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/slovenly-shopper

primitive-concept 2017-05-02 08:31

A little trouble maneuvering the rock around, but eventually got the hang of it. Really love how the map generation unfolds -- I entered the game thinking "Gee, there's not going to be a lot of space to work with," and was pleasantly pleased the find out the world was much larger than it appeared. Great job on that! Great artwork, as well. Good entry!

joshuajumbles 2017-05-03 04:11

Lovely effect, I always enjoy seeing new creative 2.5D. The way the world is a tight sphere while mapped to a much bigger space creates a spacial curiosity that pairs well with puzzle gameplay. nice job!

diegoctorguet 2017-05-03 10:45

I think I've just fallen in love with that 2.5D aesthetic. I've feel a bit lost in some puzzles though, and I miss some music. Anyway, this is an amazing work and explores amazingly well the theme. Great job!

holly-baker 2017-05-04 02:24

My only suggestion if you were to polish this up more later is to give more clues towards the solution for the giant rock puzzle, that was the only one I think I legitimately "solved" by accident just trying random things. Also I had no idea at first that just opening the chests counted as collecting the item and I thought I was leaving precious carrots uncollected.

I really enjoyed being a bun for a while, though, nice job!

lukezaz 2017-05-04 06:33

Couldn't get it working - both web versions had **extreme** input lag. Had around five seconds of it on the large version, and from what I could tell the small version took like twenty seconds. I don't have flash so I can't run the downloadable versions, either.

torcado 2017-05-04 07:05

@lukezaz that's very strange, I've never seen anyone have an issue like that for any of my games. I could only suggest trying it on a different browser or computer entirely. Sorry!

david-cookie 2017-05-05 21:20

The graphics are really amazing for a jam, especially a compo. The feeling of moving around this planet is the strength of your game no doubt. Unfortunately, this huge technical performance maybe took too much of your time to polish the rest of the game: it clearly lacks feedbacks and explanations imo, and I find it pretty hard to play a game without sounds or music.. especially a game with exploration and mechanisms like this one. Nevertheless it's still enjoyable to watch and control, so you really have a good base for a really great game! Well done.

stevenjmiller 2017-05-06 06:58

@torcado Sorry for the late reply (I didn't realize the new site didn't notify you when getting replies). I was referring to how most of the puzzles were things like mazes and going through rabbit holes, which made the focus more on exploration and trying different paths than puzzle solving. A similar scenario occurs with the buttons, where it is more about finding the area of the map where the solution is depicted. It certainly wasn't an issue (this still ended up being one of my highest rated so far), and the focus on exploring complimented the presentation and layout well.

dgspitzer 2017-05-06 09:17

Overall 5 stars! Didn't really know how I solved the compass puzzle though but it's so much fun!~

Win.jpg

torcado 2017-05-06 17:43

@stevenjmiller oh ok I understand! I think I definitely would have added more puzzles but mazes were pretty easy and i had little time haha. I appreciate the constructive feedback :)

@dgspitzer good job! Lots of people have done the same thing, not knowing how they solved it haha.

Thanks for playing

elektropapst 2017-05-07 09:52

Really nice concept. Nice art and good work. Had a lot of fun playing this.

2017-05-07 17:10

Cute world, interesting game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpLa_G-bsto

aurel300 2017-05-08 23:39

Pretty 2.5D. I wanted to enjoy this game – it had a lot of things I like, pixelart-y graphics, fake 3D, puzzle solving, and exploration. But it had its problems, too. The renderer, while neat-looking, was terribly optimised. I know the pains of dealing with sprites and rotating / squashing them as needed, but a couple dozen trees on screen should not cause that much lag anyway. I wouldn't mind the map being much bigger than it apparently should be (if it was the size of the surface of the planet) – but the map was just a rectangle, with invisible walls all the way around. Why not make the player wrap around the edges? The puzzles were cute, although a bit too obscure, not much indication of success, these definitely need more feedback. Same goes for the chests – I'd expect to collect the carrots (and other objects), not just see the chest opened with the carrot still in it. A carrot counter / inventory would be nice. And of course, some sort of calming / ambient music for an exploration / puzzle-solving game would be ideal, sounds as well.

I think this game is very well done though, I just listed my little problems with it :)

fenwick 2017-05-10 00:30

A surprisingly huge world! Very cute art and I really loved the 2.5D for a while. Unfortunately it made me a bit nauseous. Maybe if it was a little less pronounced I would have been okay.

I wasn't quite able to finish it, but what I got through was really enjoyable. One tip I would give is that it would have helped me not get lost as much if the areas were a bit more varied instead of all being littered with bushes trees and a green ground. It wouldn't really have been a problem but your world was so awesomely big!

torcado 2017-05-10 01:22

@aurel300 thanks for the feedback! these are all thing i definitely had plans for, or at the very least would have done if i had more time, but as with the nature of the competition i just could not get to these bits of polish. Specifically more feedback, definitely an obvious thing to add in, literally had no time.

The wrap-around thing is something i would work on after the fact, but it would be non-ideal to work into the compo version, if for any reason specifically because of the boulders.

Though I disagree with your claim that the "renderer was terribly optimized". Disregarding the fact that it runs totally fine 60fps on my computer, it it basically as optimized as i could have made it with the tools i used. i spent the majority of the time optimizing. This doesn't matter to those players who are affected by slowdown, of course, but that is less of an issue on my end than an issue with maybe the browser, the plugin, the executable, etc. I apologize to anyone who is experiencing lag, but there really isn't much i could do without sacrificing a lot of the game.

@fenwick Sorry it had that effect!

About areas being more varied: this is also a thing i definitely planned for, unfortunately there was no way for me to make a ground texture, so it really wouldn't have worked well thematically. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how i could do it, to no avail. But even so that would, again, have taken a lot of time. assets take the most time for me to create.

elemental-zeal-game-studios 2017-05-12 01:48

Wow, this is gorgeous! Could have done with some audio, but even without it the puzzle solving mood didn't suffer. Nice job (:

gipzo 2017-05-12 11:57

Nice game, loved the graphics Couldn't finish it, unfortunately. Don't know what to do with compass/time puzzle :worried:

silkworm-sweatshop 2017-05-14 21:53

I loved the exploration aspect and how the world is bigger than you first think. The puzzles were engaging and worked well.. for the most part (damn you compass puzzle!). Most issues I had with it people have already mentioned (better feedback is definitely needed). Despite its flaws, there is definitely something special here and it's probably my favorite entry to be honest.

csanyk 2017-05-14 23:04

Pretty fantastic! I wish there was a bit more of a clue what to do, but figuring things out was fun. Needs sound effects and music. I liked exploring, and I liked that the world was actually bigger than it looked. It would have been fun to hop to another planet after I finished with exploring this one.

batmanasb 2017-05-16 23:50

This isn't my type of game, nor do I have the patience... but even I recognized how amazing this game was! I'd imagine someone who loves puzzles would love it, so therefore I give it :rabbit: :rabbit: :rabbit: :rabbit: :rabbit:

PS: I love looking at different implementations of fake 3D!

failedstarfish 2017-05-17 21:15

Really liked the effect of the planet moving, fitted the theme well. Enjoyed the puzzles and game play.

rojo 2017-05-18 03:08

Had fun exploring and trying to solve the puzzles. The way the world rotated in as you moved was a nice effect. Some music and sound FX would have completed the experience.

awalone 2026-04-21 21:53

I ... remember you .
