LD38 — A Small World

The Village Helpers by Z4F1 2017-05-02T21:36:44Z

My favorite part was buying a ton of speed and flying around the island. Gathering materials definitely needs audio queues and the UI could use some refining. Otherwise, solid start with plenty of room to grow.

Great job. Unique exploration mechanic and built perfectly for the theme. It's like Myst for bunnies.

I really liked the different weapons and how they felt to use. The sound worked well for an arcade game too. I wasn't a fan of the movement controls when you go around the circle, but I'm not sure how you could make it feel right. I didn't like how enemies could spawn directly on top of you.

Nice pixel art, especially with the outdoor areas and character. Gameplay was a little too difficult for me with the very high, very fast jump.

Solid start to a game. With a few more layers of depth it could be really fun. Not a fan of rotating the joystick.

Nice take on the "point and click" genre. Great theming, mood, music, writing, and art.

I liked the fast-paced action. Could definitely benefit from some set spawns and difficulty increase over time.

I really like the idea of this game and it's fun to move around in and destroy the world.

When I tried to play with my roommate, the Xbox controller didn't work. Any time he pressed a button, his character would run in a straight line uncontrollably again and again. We tried with a PS4 controller and the same thing happened.

Beautiful art and sound. The animations really sell it. I think the difficulty ramps up a bit too much in the end. I also got shafted by a dragonfly spawn as I was jumping between lily pads which made me lose with no chance to redeem the playthrough.
