I love it! It feel so good to smash and... oh god the dunk! Nice job.
Love it!
yay great game! who composed the music?
Wow, I did not expect this to be a rhythm game at first, but once I figured it out it was really fun! The music is great, and I love the graphics. It doesn't really play with the LD theme at all, but as far as games go, this is a very solid one.
@ooku twas me!
@ooku twas me!
This is incredible. It's hilarious, controls felt tight, graphics and audio is on point, and the music is amazing. Hitting that dunk is SO SATISFYING. On my first try I failed on the second level but I'm going to keep playing until I master this. I'd pay for a full game of this for sure
I made a godzilla themed game too :) great minds think alike haha
I'm with @flaterectomy on the weak link to the theme, but this game is SO GOOD. I was a huge DDR/Step Mania/Whatever fan in my teens, and this gave me ALL the rhythm game nostalgia adrenaline. Phenominal gameplay, art and music. You all should be proud of what you made here. 10/10, would dunk again.
This is absolutely fantastic. I didn't realize it would be a rhythm game either until after the first few beats. Love the very 16-bit detailed spritework, damn. And I've got a special fondness for games where being attacked doesn't actually hurt you.
I was _going_ to thank you for making the health bar fairly forgiving, but then I reached level 3 and was completely steamrolled. Oh well. Good spread of difficulty, I suppose :)
Oh man oh man, I had so much fun with this! Here's the quick rundown of my thoughts:
PROS - A breath of fresh air in the rhythm game genre - Absolutely stunning pixel art and animations - Vocaloid music? With actual legit Japanese lyrics? Wow, that couldn't have been easy to do - Well-calibrated input latency, very important for a rhythm game (tested with both keyboard and controller) - Hitsounds are nice and meaty and provide good feedback (Dunking is the best hitsound ever) - So, so much potential here. You could completely take this and develop it into a small rhythm game, it'd fit right into the 3DS eShop or the like
CONS - Just a couple of quality-of-life things that would be nice to have for a rhythm game (combo counter and score, different accuracy scores instead of just hit/miss, having bar lines (maybe painted lines on the floor?) to help with reading the rhythm) - Not much to do with the theme

This game was really, really unexpected, and I just have to say, the pixel art is _astonishingly_ good. Unfortunately, I'm pretty bad at Rhythm games (I'm _ok_ at CotND and garbage at everything else), so I had to be hyper-focused on the upcoming symbols while playing, with no change to really enjoy the art going by :stuck_out_tongue:.
While I beat level 1 on my first try, level 2 is already waaay to hard for me, and level 3 I fail within seconds. Ah, well.
What a cool game, I am really bad at rhythm games but this one was awesome to play. The music and pixel art was one of the best I've seen in this jam. A short description of what to do in the beginning could be helpful as I didn't understand which buttons to press on the first run and when I had to press them.
It felt like a complete game and it was really fun. Certainly one of my favourites in this jam!
All 5 stars! This game is amazing! Fantastic art and music. It's always good to hear Miku's voice btw .
Great entry, the art style is great along with the music and gameplay. It was really fun to play, an awesome twist on rhythm games. Really loved the premise of a kaiju playing basketball destroying cities. Really great entry, the only thing I have to say is I want more! It would be great if you would add more kaijus and more levels. Nice job!
Jeez, this was really fun to play, I loved just about everything about this one! The graphics are great, the music is great, the gameplay is great.
This is just through and through well made, I can't think of anything negative to say about. Really well done, good job!
WOW! This game is amazing. How on earth did you do all this in a weekend? When I first ran the game and heard the music, I thought "No way they did this music too". Then the game started a bit slow, despite the brilliant animations. Once the music picked up a bit and the Kaiju started doing slam dunks, it was so good! Reminds me a bit of Broforce, mostly down to the violence and the awesome kinda feeling you get from playing. Nothing bad to say about it at all, I was thinking perhaps a combo meter would be nice but I think it's good as is. By far my favourite game of the jam! Really well done! :D
Edit: After finally managing to get through the song, I find there's a second level! I'll be playing this more tomorrow :P
Great game, excellent music and artwork, the only downside was i was too busy watching the control indicators to admire the art. Only made it to level 2, felt level 1 was just a little bit on the long side though. Great work
A very atmospheric game. Is there a reason why the slam dunk is on the right arrow and not the X? I thought that would make more sense. Very nice work!
Really fantastic quality on this one! Graphics are great, but the sound is where it's really at. Dunking the city to kingdom come in beat to the music was a lot of fun! Keeping track of five different keys for a rhythm game is a bit over my level, though. I managed the first two levels fine but had no chance at all on level 3. Really great job on the music, whoever did that should feel proud!
Fun rhythm game, production values spot-on! Good marks for humor as well.
Absolutely amazing art, and the mood is amazing. Spot on, loved it!
Very amazing. Great art, and funny. Was a little too forgiving, but I'm not complaining!
Amazing game overall, loved the music and artwork, and the idea on its own is already great. Can't be upset with something with a name like that, after all!
I can't go however without saying that the fun suffered greatly for me due to the difficulty. I can't be certain, but I think the inclusion of X along with *up / down / left / right* is largely what made things difficult for me. Other than that, the game was made harder partly due to both the speed of it, as well as that having things coming in from right gave me less time to notice and prepare for them — this is in contrast with games like Guitar Hero, where it's in my field of vision almost immediately regardless of what incoming note I pay attention to.
Should this difficulty issue be remedied however, I wouldn't be able to think of much of anything wrong with the game at all, as every other aspect was absolutely nailed. Regardless of the challenge, this entry is fantastic!
Absolutely fantastic art! that is both sound and graphics.
Just why small world :)?
Even though I'm not a big fan of guitar hero games this one was so appealing it was hard not to play for few times!
Fantastic job!

Fantastic job!
Great game, I found a little bug: when I pressed enter on the menu sometimes the menu just reload. I didn't find the theme of ludum dare (Small World), but it's a great game. Good job!
This would probably be the first entry I've rated perfectly. Turn this into an actual game, because what you have is a great idea and it is marvelously executed.
For a lot of 'Small World' themed games, many of them feature miniaturized cities and whatnot, so I got that feel from the game, especially with the hilarious premise of a Godzilla-like Kaiju playing basketball through the city. Also, the singing of the title on the intro screen is hilarious too, and it is an absolute blast to play.
Hey, guys. Thanks, especially Roushey for showing me what LudumDare is.
Played almost all of your games.
Enjoyed this one too. It was so much fun. Only after living in USA, I realized how much I love basketball. :basketball:
What about the game? It's the best game I've played so far. Solid as always. But...
I think you should try go further. You have done rhythmic game before with 3d.
And this game does not follow the theme :(
Anyway thanks for the great game and looking forward to play your games on next Ludum Dares.
Mann....(..)wowwwwwwww!! Man this game is completely fuc*&$#@ insane!!!! Really awesome. Incredible graphics, awesome music. it's really good, just keep going!! This is really awesome. I really like this one, I will play it again and recommend.

I cannot figure out how it could be possible to create a game like yours in less than 72 hours. There is big amount of work on the aesthetic and a solid gameplay. The music is great. One of my favorite game for the 38th LudumDare. I think you should try go further. Well done. Thumbs up - hightly rated ++
Oh my...!Speechless. s2

really fun game, too bad you have ti play the whole game again to restart a level ! The thrid one is hard xD
Impressive !
this is a really well polished submission! I do love audio games - I really enjoyed it :)
Oh, man, this is awesome. Might be my favorite entry out of everything I've played so far. I'm not feeling the "small world" theme too much here, but everything about this game is just super. Really well done.
Congrats!
Lovely graphics, fun game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNW6-tGfc3E
