I've got no idea how to play it in Windows. Smacking the keyboard doesn't even work!

trashmob 2015-08-25 01:14

Very great job :D

markof 2015-08-25 01:14

nice copy bro

turtlep 2015-08-25 01:16

Nice work, Ulydev! I feel like growling now.

ulydev 2015-08-25 01:23

@TurtleP : Because you're a monster ? :)

runedrake 2015-08-25 01:25

Hard to understand at first but I got the hang of it quick. It seems to get much harder after 30 seconds (or is it just the visual change that's throwing me off?)

My next goal is to get to 60 seconds, wish me luck

pusty 2015-08-25 01:26

Great job

lebrokholic 2015-08-25 01:36

An alcoholic mixture of nice audio, visual effects and interesting gameplay. You're magicians!

marekkpie 2015-08-25 02:33

A great spinoff of one of my favorite games ever!

grywhttl 2015-08-25 02:40

Good stuff!

facelesstheone 2015-08-25 11:40

Looks very nice but it's hard to understand how to play it. But the graphics is awesome! )

keyboardmonkey 2015-08-25 11:51

Fun with dirty noise! I don't see the theme here, but love the assault on my ears!

windmill-games 2015-08-25 13:50

This entry stands out quite a bit to me, it is different in a positive way. The gameplay is simple to learn, but very addictive and fun. My record so far is 34 seconds :)

Great job!

steve 2015-08-25 15:02

Fun game, I think the effects were a little too strong though as it made it hard to see what you were doing, perhaps you could dial the effects up over time so the start of the game is a little clearer so it's easier to see what you're doing

belva1234 2015-08-25 18:46

now i can't see enymore

raducumiczzz 2015-08-25 22:51

My mind is blown. Colors are amazing. Great work

kuchalu 2015-08-26 00:30

Awesome style and music. Hard gameplay but fun!

goutye 2015-08-26 01:09

Great job in trying to do an original version of Hexagon!

buzzwerd 2015-08-26 02:28

Really really fun, obviously not on theme. Played it on our stream and you said there's something after 30 seconds, I plan on finding out what that is.

aumni 2015-08-26 03:44

I really enjoyed the gameplay. The art and music also goes really well with the game. Awesome work!!

lynx 2015-08-26 04:27

As a fan of SH, this is a satisfying, my only complaint is it starts so zoomed in that the first obstacles hit me before I get a good view...but that maybe my fullscreen resolution of something. Well done.

karai17 2015-08-26 05:45

Neat game, very challenging!

tselmek 2015-08-26 13:00

Too bad it doesn't show the score we've got at the end of the game, would have loved to screenshot and tweet about my 370 score :)
Nice game, the music is great and the mechanics interesting. The screen shake might be a bit too intense and repetitive after a certain time but it works, even though a diversity in the visual effects is more than welcome. Great game nontheless, good job!

ulydev 2015-08-26 13:24

@Tselmek, your highscore is displayed at the bottom of the screen :)

geckoo1337 2015-08-27 03:46

A great Hexagon-inspired game. Reall y hard to play with it, but I like. Thank you ++

strike 2015-08-27 11:06

Haha, nice reversed super hexagon ;)
Pretty fun to play. Good job.

nassi 2015-08-27 15:21

Even after maybe 20 rounds I have no idea how to play this. I can't see the logic behind the "notes" disappearing and it's driving me nuts. I have no idea how I should be spinning, but by some random change I still got to 20 seconds. Watched the gameplay video but that didn't really explain it either.

voidstar33 2015-08-27 21:21

Big fan of super hexagon. :) What you have done is cool. Visuals are cool. I dont know if its a bug or I miss understood, though I sweep through an arc till the end, It wont complete, and start to form as I sweep past the end.

yokcos700 2015-08-28 11:52

48.2 seconds, fools!
So, you perhaps need to be a little better at explaining this game. I appreciate the sound play plays every time you complete a note, but it's not obvious at a glance whether or not a not is in range or not. When you complete one, it flashes again for a moment, which sometimes leads me to believe that it has not in fact been completed, and I need to go back to it. It also took me a while to figure out what the whole note-completion thing was about; I didn't fully understand how to play for a while.

That said, once understood, it's a very nice fun and compelling game. You've got a nice gem on your hands here. The vigorous shaking of the screen at all times, you would think would be distracting, but no. Instead it simply serves to make the whole experience more intense. I was urged to defeat my previous highscore before 48s, so it's definitely something that I like to play repeatedly. Fun stuff, sir.

ulydev 2015-08-28 12:47

@yokcos700, that was some awesome feedback. Thank you for this comment.

ulydev 2015-08-28 12:49

Thanks everyone for your comments as well !

nili 2015-08-29 18:35

It's an interesting excercise getting over your hexagon-reflexes and adapting to the new mechanic. I like it.

taro 2015-08-30 04:34

Very confusing, and with confused feedback, I find it hard to figure out which note I'm supposed to "swipe," and why. I often had a difficult time knowing why I died. A tutorial and better UI would have helped immensely.

ulydev 2015-08-30 11:40

Fuck. I knew it wasn't a good idea to let you try it. You obviously can't understand the game if you give up after 30 seconds because of your stream.
Thanks for the feedback anyways.

ulydev 2015-08-30 16:45

Alright, people. All of these "I don't understand" comments made me very sad so far. It's like nowadays "gamers" quit playing if they don't understand the gameplay within the first 10 seconds.
So, in order to fix that, I finally solved a bug that used to display the wrong path for the next note -and thus getting people even more confused-. Please try it and tell me if there's anything other that confuses you (hopefully not).

Thanks in advance for all the comments and criticism -I realise you do this to help me improve myself-.

burgerdare 2015-08-30 16:54

pretty cool. The mechanic actually feels more unique than I was expecting it to. My only real gripe is that it often felt like the game had some overly strict requirements for triggering a note, which weren't incredibly clear. Sometimes it felt like I needed to pause movement for a brief moment for a note hit to register, while other times it seemed like the game just wanted me to get closer to the note than what felt reasonable. If the player's goal was made just a little bit clearer, I think this would actually be an excellent entry into the twitchy high-speed skill avoidance genre.

literal_games 2015-08-30 17:01

Great entry, consistently fun!

chuckeles 2015-08-30 17:37

Cool game, very hard at first, but once I got the hang of it, made it to 60.5 seconds :P. Nice visuals and soundtrack.

evergreen-games-ludum-dare 2015-08-30 18:28

Awesome! Super fun!!! It did take a little bit to understand how to play but it wasn't a problem. Made it to 45s. My only complaint is that the camera swings around too much.

tuism 2015-08-30 18:45

The fact that you have to watch a gameplay video to understand a two-button game is some indication of something being pretty wrong :/

Top-notch production values. TOP NOTCH. Great effects and music. REALLY COOL.

But your game communication is terrible, sorry. The goal isn't to "complete notes", it's just to line up the red rectangle with the circle. That's all. Everything else is visual and gameplay clutter. So you should have visually linked the thing that is the red rectangle and the things that are the the circles at the end of each of the lines. That is all, really.

The theme is also utterly unrelated :/

The fact that you can be in a state where your red rectangle has become impossible to hit the circle because it's gone past it is frustrating. The game is over but you have to wait to die. The wait's not long, but you KNOW it's happening and it really should just end it there. Or you change the mechanic to prevent that.

ulydev 2015-08-30 19:27

Thank you everyone for your feedback! It seems like there's been some improvement with how people understand the mechanics.

chuigum 2015-08-30 20:02

Even though it was inspired by Super Hexagon, it was still pretty innovative! Great visuals and nice audio. Great job!

ulydev 2015-08-30 20:04

Thanks, ChuiGum! This motivates me so much.

insality 2015-08-30 20:37

wow! great job
love the hexagon game and other for it's great gameplay difficulty. You have a very nice gameplay too
Got 80s with first time :D
Glad to see hard games on LD

hexagore 2015-08-30 23:11

So at the heart of this seems to be a pretty fun concept and I could see myself wanting to keep playing this but honestly I think the presentation is way too over the top for me. The colours and the vibrations, it's like it's deliberately trying to be as unpleasant as possible, but maybe that's a matter of personal taste. The effects are impressive though and it's at least a consistent and coherent style.

I had to read the instructions to figure out how to play this and even now I'm not *100%* convinced I understand it exactly. It seems like you can destroy lines if the laser sweeps paste the circle on the end, but only if they're within a certain range and only if you're going a specific direction?

I'm giving you detailed feedback cos honestly I feel like this is really promising. I'd actually really love a more basic down to earth version of this with raw gameplay at its heart rather than flashy effects. :)

tonny_elhond 2015-08-31 00:49

Very interesting! nice art and game feel! But, kind hard to understand how to destroy walls. Overall well done entry!

dvdking 2015-08-31 18:23

Pretty good. The game feels finished. But somehow lucks feedback, as I am not really sure if I am moving in the right direction or not. It would be better if there was some specific sound when moving in the right direction, or more noticable visual effect, or camera shake only if you do something right.
Also in my opinion camera shake was to violent and redundant.

if these things would be there it would be a really good game.

jupiter_hadley 2015-08-31 19:41

Fun, hectic game. I included it in part 13 of my Ludum Dare 33 Compilation video series, if you would like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/1VzFVc1MuWc

erkberg 2015-09-01 18:26

I suck at Super Hexagon. :)
This game is, as you already mentioned, pretty similar. You managed to nail the visual style, it is gorgeous. The music and sounds are also really neat. Gameplay-wise it is a nice variation of Hexagon and just as hard, I barely made it to 30s. :)
Overall, it is a very enjoyable game, good job!

ulydev 2015-09-01 19:48

Thanks you guys for the awesome feedback!

hthomson 2015-09-05 12:33

I love super hexagon so this was fun to play, but as I've seen mentioned before it was quite confusing at the start, especially given all the screen shake and vibrations. Making the game less hectic at the start would help. Maybe have one bar approaching at a time so that it's clear to the player what happens each time they swipe a bar and under what conditions they die.

I liked the bright, neon, shaky graphics but the shake might just be slightly too over the top, tone it down just a little bit and it'll be perfect :)

zupoman 2015-09-06 20:56

It was hard to understand the gameplay mechanics, but I guess I just didn't RTFM well enough. I managed to reach 61.0, that is after 60, but I always get killed just then, before I notice new thing happening. I'll try again some other day, my eyes feel raped too hard for now.

lukezaz 2015-09-10 05:19

Excellent game - one of my favorites so far. Loved the audio, graphics, and gameplay - extremely fun, even after playing through the same part over and over.

ulydev 2015-09-13 18:46

Thanks for your comments!
LukeZaz, that's very appreciated :)
