Very glad you appreciated our game, even if not the game concept. We tried to come up with a fun game with challenging levels. Cheers.

I couldn't press the play button either with mouse nor keyboard in my windows10/surface 4. Can't evaluate.
I liked the aesthetics of the game and the HUD. A bit hard to get the sense of proximity to the ground. Hard to make up your progress in the game too. You probably should hide the mouse cursor too. Nice work!
Well put together. Cohesive graphics and sfx. Nice car movement. Congrats! I second the other guys about the levels being too simple.
It's not clear where congestions are happening. Maybe a heatmap would be more effective than just 1 lighting increase (at a time all my roads were lighted but I couldn't figure out which ones were more congested). Nice effort though. The cars do drive :D
I like the idea. Reminds me of gauntlet 2.
Having to play with 4 people can be hard to achieve. Even because some of the keys mapped don't work on most laptops. :|
Nice. Reminds me of pacman and police quest.
Would be cool to be able to stop the car. At level start a hint to where the bank is would help out (the stores are easier to spot due to the green bar overlays). Sfx could help out knowing when one ended carrying all store money and draining the money to the bank (while keeping other cars away).
Great effort. Kudos for plain JS :)
...and I was thinking it was a game at the sea shore. Cohesive artwork and sound. The theme doesn't really appeal to me though.
Please rate our game too: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/kinball/ Cheers!
We added additional mappings to left and right arrows for controlling the flippers and space or up arrow to tilt. Now you should be able to play with just the arrow keys, as some of you requested. :D
Solid mechanics and overall. Interesting aesthetics. Could be with a higher pace. Movement seems a bit averaged or laggy (with keyboard). Would possibly allow turning off Y axis inversion, even though I got used to it. The music in level 2 seemed the one from the Sherlock tv series?!
When I deposited the milk, even though the HUD changed I wasn't able to pick up more bottles. Artwork reminds me of 90s windows games such as the Maxis windows adaptations. :)
Eheh, very nice :)
yeah, I need to republish with a fix on the html page. Please don't rate just yet.
Everything should be working
All of them or one in particular? (I bet it's the sound effect that plays when the bar is fully exhausted, when you'll be penalized with cells being removed. it's meant to be an annoying/worrying sound but maybe it's too much)
I started late. Struggled with the theme too. My take on summoning is that if you let the bar empty out, you'll lose random merges from the board. A bit farfetched, I know. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ This mechanic becomes increasingly relevant as you reach higher levels. I expect some cursing at level 4 ψ
My first game with Rust/comfy. It was nice to use them.
It's failing for me too.
So well crafted! The cute fella, the sounds, the apparent simplicity. #katamariDamacy
@erasemenot, could you be so kind to share your browser and operating system so I can check? It should work fine regardless...
Great feedback from you all. I knew i had some bugs in and my todo list was not fully addressed at deadline. I have since improved several aspects (a annoying gravity bug, the lack of support for keys when in caps/shift, lack of score system or high scores...) Biggest regret was that I added support for gamepad api and not keyboard bindings definition. Sorry for that.
My progress after the deadline is in a different, unpublished branch https://github.com/JosePedroDias/ldjam56/commits/after-the-jam/
I could serve that version as well on a different link, but I fear it may look dodgy/cheating. Let me know what you think.
was unable to run it in my linux (latest elementaryos, based in ubuntu).
Creative approach. Solid implementation. Congrats.
great artwork, adds a lot to the whole experience. avoiding sticking for long in a single direction and doing the occasional dodge with space bar kept me alive. i was able to stick for the duration of the clock but nothing happened?
Great usage of dot rendering. :) Would benefit from some sort of minimap
I believe there's a size issue when starting the game. I couldn't get past the instructions (the keys were acting on the game but i never saw a thing).
The canvas isn't filling the entire screen. Like a HiDPI issue, but in the browser. Super weird. I did try it there, without and with fullscreen, on both Chrome and Firefox on Mac Os X.
Wow, very well executed.
only worked for me on itch.io
I didn't get what the objective was. Some walls don't block the player. Let me know if you publish an updated version. Cheers.
I wasn't able to play the game yet. (even on itch.io)
it works now, thanks
Really liked the mechanics. It's challenging ;) There could be sound hinting when we're close to timing out and other one to let us know we increased the remaining time.
Loved this one. Nice mechanics. Clever name :D Nitpicking: the explosion sound is a bit aggresive/raspy.
 thank you
Really fun to play. You created a really engaging game. The artwork reminds me of crypt of the necrodancer which is not a flaw at all (probably due to the theme and the checkers floor). The levels are nice and the enemies do stike your goal eheh. Best game so far.
Incredibiru! Very cohesive and good looking pack. Great modeling. Wow.
Properly scary :skull:
I got sick throughout sunday which left me with monday night to come up with AI. Additionally didn't have my regular partner in crime for audio. Was fun to make. Loved recreating the pacman map itself too :D
Thank you all for the feedback so far! I was almost giving up with time constraints so I wasn't able to properly wrap it up. This was what I was able to deliver - thought I should publish anyway. Yeah it should have a larger car, perhaps with feistier reaction. The AI exists so you can fail but didn't properly set up waypoints or evade/pursuit behaviours as I intended too. Yeah, the large orbs don't make the enemies vulnerable, couldn't tackle that either! Wrapping kinda works, at least the right side does. @nardandas ;) The camera may be too aggressive for some, if so, apologies :)
It was meant to be a compo entry. Since I got sick Sunday and it wasn't at all in a playable state, Monday evening, feeling better, I crunched a bit in the final hours and made it into a jam entry. The only part where I took benefit in Jam mode (besides the extra 24h) was I could relax the asset authoring, critical since I had no time to spare by then. Worked alone with 2 OSS JS libs.
Happy to report I'm fixing/finishing the rest of the game. By the time voting closes I'll deploy a much polished version of the game. :D
Thank you @schizoid2k @dob @Milo87 @ed3187 ! The driving mechanics are the twist. Couldn't implement decent ghost behavior and ghost vulnerability on time. I finished them into a branch. will publish once the voting stage ends. :)
Now that voting finished I published the latest version here: https://josepedrodias.github.io/ld41-raceman/dist-latest/
(the entry URL remains the same so it can be played too).
The pieces fall way too fast and I was unable to make any line.
Great graphics and animation. Great use of tic80 too! :clap_tone1:
I'm much better text and driving in real life lolol. Nicely put. The challenges could be translucent - as is you hardly see the road :P Of course the hardness makes it fun. Nice one
