omg, harder than it sounds! I like the car grabbing the points and the enemies. The controls take a cue from driving and not pacman, which just adds to this crazy genre mixing. Well done. Cheers!
Awesome idea, it's pretty good fun driving around and collecting! Would be great to see this more built out.
The idea is cool, but the enemy car AI loves bumping into walls and getting stuck, and the controls are weird. Pressing arrow up should accelerate and releasing it should keep the speed. The camera work is excellent though!
I found it very, very hard to keep a straight line on the pegs when you wanted to, but I enjoyed the idea! The camera felt great, I liked the zoomout/focus in depending on standing still or not. Thank you for the fun
Interesting idea!
I found it interesting maybe it would be better with sound
I tried to wrap around the course and went out of bounds!
Congrats on finishing. Shows a lot of promise
I love the idea and the connection to the theme, though the control scheme being aligned to racing rather than being aligned to pac-man makes it incredibly difficult to complete the games objectives. Great game!
I got sick throughout sunday which left me with monday night to come up with AI. Additionally didn't have my regular partner in crime for audio. Was fun to make. Loved recreating the pacman map itself too :D
I didn't finish the level. I wanted to but the zooming in/out started to give me nausea, I recommend lessening that. The driving controls were tough on a keyboard. ALSO, YOU GOT THE MAP WRAP RIGHT, YOU GET AN EXTRA HALF POINT :)
This is a pretty cool idea. Adding more to it would make it a very interesting game to play. As is, it's a little rough do to the size of things.
Suggestions: - Make the enemy cars unable to bounce the pellets around. - Give the enemy cars waypoints to go to on each corner so they don't get stuck - Make the cars slightly larger so that proper handling has a use, and pellets are easier to pick up
Good job!
I liked the tricky controlls. I picked the large orb and thought I could kill the orange car, but I crashed D:. Nice mashup! Would never have thought of something like this but it clicks.
Thank you all for the feedback so far! I was almost giving up with time constraints so I wasn't able to properly wrap it up. This was what I was able to deliver - thought I should publish anyway. Yeah it should have a larger car, perhaps with feistier reaction. The AI exists so you can fail but didn't properly set up waypoints or evade/pursuit behaviours as I intended too. Yeah, the large orbs don't make the enemies vulnerable, couldn't tackle that either! Wrapping kinda works, at least the right side does. @nardandas ;) The camera may be too aggressive for some, if so, apologies :)
Guess you got lucky, I only tried the right side
Nice idea, sad you didn't had time to wrap it up, but seeing as this was Jam entry I feel you could have done more. But then again, I always like seeing an entry which is not made in Unity, which probably means you had harder time making it. You know all the flaws so I won't be mentioning them here. Perhaps do a post-compo version.
It was meant to be a compo entry. Since I got sick Sunday and it wasn't at all in a playable state, Monday evening, feeling better, I crunched a bit in the final hours and made it into a jam entry. The only part where I took benefit in Jam mode (besides the extra 24h) was I could relax the asset authoring, critical since I had no time to spare by then. Worked alone with 2 OSS JS libs.
Happy to report I'm fixing/finishing the rest of the game. By the time voting closes I'll deploy a much polished version of the game. :D
Controls were a bit wonky for me to use... i guess I was expecting PacMan up/down/left/right. Once I "got it" I played much better and enjoyed it. Nice job.
Cool mashup of racing and pacman - nice to see the classics united. Not a ton to this game, but still fun to drive around. I ate a power pill but could still crash into enemy cars - not what I expected. I found myself wanting to be able to make sharper turns, too. Great art, although the changes in camera zoom got confusing. Nice job!
This was a surprisingly good match! Quite challenging to control. I think the enemies are a bit bugged, though... They crashed into the wall at one point and stopped working
It took me a while to get the hang of the steering but I enjoyed the game. Interesting take on the theme.
Thank you @schizoid2k @dob @Milo87 @ed3187 ! The driving mechanics are the twist. Couldn't implement decent ghost behavior and ghost vulnerability on time. I finished them into a branch. will publish once the voting stage ends. :)
Fun game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 41 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k82mDaf7ze8
Good job! Cool game!
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
I hope you continue with the project.

Now that voting finished I published the latest version here: https://josepedrodias.github.io/ld41-raceman/dist-latest/
(the entry URL remains the same so it can be played too).
