I catch some desert golfing vibes. Super fun, congrats.

chuckeles 2025-04-07 09:41

@jose-pedro-dias thanks!

chuckeles 2025-04-07 09:42

BTW there's a bug in the game which sometimes causes the ball to get stuck in a wall. I knew about it but wasn't able to fix it, it looks like Godot is not handling the high velocity of the ball correctly, even though I told it to use ray tracing for collision resolution. :shrug: Perhaps I'll take a look into it later.

manabreak 2025-04-07 12:15

Super fun take on the theme! Managed to get to the "yay" hole, and it was fun seeing the ball bounce off the platforms. A bit on the crude side when it comes to graphics, but I think that adds to the charm. :smile:

javasaurus 2025-04-07 12:16

This is so sweet, had trouble putting it down :D The graphics style is a little bit inconsistent, but somehow you've made it work. Well done ! Also don't worry too much about the bug, in my eyes you'd be allowed to fix it as it is game-breaking obviously.

lazycoffeepanda 2025-04-07 12:20

If a ball is bouncing on a trampoline, is it impossible to move it away?

sharploaded 2025-04-07 12:21

Woohoo! Finally made it after restarting twice because of ball getting stuck in wall. It also bounces weirdly sometimes, backwards. This is very fun though! Could be an endless golf dive :)

I think it would be nice if camera follows the ball when you hit it. Good sound effects and nice celebration when you sink the ball.

av-shustov 2025-04-07 12:21

An interesting game and a simple visual style. Cool

chuckeles 2025-04-07 13:38

Thanks everyone for playing! 🥳

@manabreak @javasaurus yes, the quality of my drawing skills was going down steadily as the deadline was approaching, haha. :laughing:

@lazycoffeepanda not impossible but it is a bad situation that I was not able to fix. What you can do is to position yourself right next to the trampoline and try to hit the ball just before it lands on the trampoline.

@sharploaded yeah, the physics are sometimes super weird. And this is normal rigid body in Godot! I don't really understand. 🤷 The camera is actually trying to keep the player, the ball, and the current pole in the view. All 3 at the same time, while the player gets the priority of course.

@av-shustov thanks! ☺️

inavtr 2025-04-08 05:44

I really had fun playing and found the character's strained-looking pose really funny. I thought it was a nice touch that the leaves fall off the tree when you hit it. The ball also got caught in a trampoline once, but somehow I managed to get it out again. I had to start over once because I couldn't get up the ramp to the left of the hole in one level :D

I think it would be cool if you could see your stats at the end. All in all it was a slow and relaxed game - I liked it :smiley:

chuckeles 2025-04-08 08:20

@inavtr thanks for playing! You actually CAN see your stats at the end, just hit ESC to open the menu. :wink:

inavtr 2025-04-08 08:40

@chuckeles oh thats nice, haven´t seen that! Then I have to play again i guess 😉

benskca 2025-04-10 13:02

I loved this! The golfing mechanics feel great and are really intuitive, I think you did a good job communicating them visually. The particle effects add a lot too, the confetti on getting a hole is super satisfying. I also really enjoyed the sound effects, they fit the vibe perfectly and keep the whole thing feeling a little bit silly (in a good way).

tad-i-guess 2025-04-10 14:34

Got the ball stuck on a spring eventually, but this was a ton of fun! The golfing mechanics were all great and mixing them with some light platforming turned out really cool. Nice presentation, I love the silly sound effects, I really enjoyed this!

chuckeles 2025-04-10 18:18

Thank you! :relieved: @benskca @tad-i-guess

chuckeles 2025-04-10 18:42

Hey everyone. I pushed a small update 1.1 with a few fixes and quality of life improvements. I was also trying to make the ball physics a little more consistent but unsuccessfully. I think Godot physics are not thaaat reliable for golfing. :laughing: More info in the description at the top.

wouter52 2025-04-10 18:52

This is a clever take on the theme I think. The sound effects and graphics are adorable, especially the "NOOT" the flagpole makes when the goal is hit. Somehow I could not get used to "tap" to aim and then hold_press to shoot. Somehow I'm hardwired to hold to buildup intensity and tap to shoot&aim. No idea if that is normal in golfing games, I don't play those that often

discofish 2025-04-11 13:39

Amazing game and sound design!

camer-the-dragon 2025-04-11 21:03

Cool game! I liked this one a lot, it was a bit dicey when the ball was on a trampoline though. I managed to knock the ball away off a trampoline once with precise timing, but I think if the trampolines made it so the ball bounced ever so slightly to the side too then it'd make them a lot less possibly punishing. Also if you knock the ball over the tree in the first level I think you have to restart, but honestly it's kinda funny since it's just the first level. Restarting also seems to stop score logging rather than resetting the scores

eugenik 2025-04-14 05:02

Excellent. Beautiful

shadyshade 2025-04-15 18:23

That was so fun experience! Pretty polished gameplay and so funny sound effects. Nice job! :heart:

mgear 2025-04-15 19:03

superb! really satisfying feel & audio, would play this on steam as co-op/vs game.

chuckeles 2025-04-16 09:35

Thanks everyone! :relieved:

designernap 2025-04-16 11:28

This was looooovley!!! :D Like really enjoyed this. EXCELLENT audio, really added to the charm. Good feel mechanic too.

Also, best end screen I have seen this jam! I want a YAY FLAG!

chuckeles 2025-04-16 11:37

@designernap haha thank youuu!! :heart:

designernap 2025-04-16 19:10

Just coming back here again to say that I have been playing this with my kids all afternoon and we have loved it. Noticing all the little touches like the ball rolling in when close, the eyes adding so much character to it and the shot count on the flags. Really nice stuff!

oeuegha 2025-04-18 10:38

lvl design is really catchy! love it. Unfortunately, on one of them i've have a softlockCapture.PNG

chuckeles 2025-04-18 11:58

@designernap oh my, I appreciate that a lot! :hugging:

@oeuegha yes, unfortunately I did not have much time to polish the trampolines. :laughing:

knarf 2025-04-19 14:11

Awesome ! This is really a very neat idea and use of the theme. I can see a high potential in this one, that could be extremely addictive, mixed with some random level generation ; The concept and execution is great, grafics not incredible but that's perfect for a compo game, at least it's coherent and creates some mood, and it has some "juice" anyway, just it's own style. I really enjoy *physics* game like this, the ball felt a little a bit too static IMO, but I understand it helps not being too much frustrated with some levels :) At some point the ball was impossible to move from the trampoline, that happened twice to me :') maybe could there be some checkpoint when restarting the game ? I was happy to see there was some menu when pressing escape but a bit sad it restarted from the very begining XD Very good entry and once again I really do think this can have a high potential with further development. Also sfx done by mouth is always a win. Very good job !

johnnysix 2025-04-19 14:20

Haha, very cool - took a while to get the first ball in, didn't expect to follow the ball down the hole. :smile: Some nice puzzles, really liked the concept and the sound effects.

she-wrote 2025-04-19 17:25

Quite funny. The idea of going down every golf hole to play more golf is a pretty unique interpretation of the theme, lol, and hilarious. The sounds are adorable and funny, and the game adds enough new things to stand out from other golf games. Well done!

ditam 2025-04-19 17:47

Yay, managed to beat this! Unexpectedly much fun. And that's despite the fact that the aiming seems to be all over the place - sometimes the ball goes off in wildly different directions than the swing direction arrow suggests - I guess because it also considers the distance of the player and the ball?

I had a very enjoyable moment, when I thought I was soft locked, the ball seemingly forever bouncing vertically on a jump pad, but I managed to bat it out of the air and continue the hole. I don't know if you set it up like that intentionally, but it's a testament to your "engine" regardless.

Oh, and I can imagine it's reassuring to know -since you put the dev effort into the animation- that yes, I did hit the tree on the first level :)

chuckeles 2025-04-19 20:54

@knarf @johnnysix @she-wrote @ditam thanks a lot for playing! :star:

@ditam haha amazing you noticed the tree! Yeah it's one of the first little things I made in the game, I thought it would add a lot of character. Also regarding the aiming - I wrote about it somewhere in a comment, but I just was not able to fix this. Maybe I'm using Godot's physics incorrectly somewhere or maybe the physics are unreliable and undeterministic somehow. I don't know. I debugged this a lot and I'm sure I am applying the same impulse to the ball when you hit it, but sometimes it seems like Godot does not fully register it. :shrug:

jake-g 2025-04-19 22:14

Omg I love this game! Did you make all the sounds "a capella?" Super creative. In some ways reminds me of real golf, i.e. you think you're aiming in a certain direction, but depending on where you're standing, it goes somewhere else.

The double-boing hole (last hole) almost had me stuck, because the ball was bouncing up and down perfectly on the pad. But I went up top, hit it while it was in the air, and eventually got the perfect hit.

I would love if it showed your final score at the end, and even had a leaderboard. Despite the art being relatively minimal (i.e. not much background scenery, particles, shaders, etc.), I've made enough games to recognize fun and solid mechanics. You could take what you have here, polish it with no gameplay changes, add some replay value, and it would already be solid enough to sell on app stores IMO.

Keep us posted if you build it out further into a full game. I'd buy it!

block97 2025-04-19 22:36

Took me a while to realize I had to stand on the ball fully otherwise my shot wouldnt go quite were I expected it. Makes total sense now. great job had a lot of fun playing!

poboy 2025-04-20 03:38

I managed to softlock myself immediately by hitting the ball over the tree ;_;

Fun concept, the sound effects are amazing

chuckeles 2025-04-20 06:34

@poboy @block97 thanks for playing! :video_game:

chuckeles 2025-04-20 06:36

@jake-g wow, thanks a lot for the kind words! After all the feedback I received, I'm actually seriously considering making this into a full game. We'll see...

And about the aiming, actually the way I implemented it, it should not matter at all where you are standing in relation to the ball. Only how you aim and the strength of the shot. But I think there's a bug in the Godot physics OR I configured something incorrectly. I don't know. I'll experiment with the physics a little. :blush:

cherrybcake 2025-04-21 13:08

Definitely a fun game! I love the sound effects haha, and the physics are nice too, spent some good time playing it, good job! :)

lllarso 2025-04-21 21:33

Fun little game! I like the cute visuals and sound effects.

The aim was a little bit confusing, because the ball did not went where the arrow pointed at.

It's cool that you put in jumping pads and used them for the level design. Cool detail, that the tree lost some leaves when you hit it. :)

chuckeles 2025-04-22 10:48

@cherrybcake @lllarso thanks for playing and for the positive feedback. :blush:

deformhead 2025-04-23 10:08

Very good entry, especially in the COMPO timeframe, great job! :clap:

chuckeles 2025-04-24 20:11

@deformhead thank you! Great scores. 🤩 I see lvl 4 gave you a lot of trouble. 😄

papaver 2025-05-28 12:56

Cute game! I got stuck at Trampoline Level 3 because the ball was infinitely bouncing on one of those jumping pads :smile:
