Can you only play it in VR?

infinitycore 2018-04-25 21:15

I can't comment on anything besides graphics because have neither the capability nor the hardware to run this (don't have a powerful enough computer for a Vive and don't have a Vive anyway)

virtual-window 2018-04-26 08:30

@HOPgames Yes sorry :) This is a VR game intended for the HTC Vive

hopgames 2018-04-26 11:24

@Virtual Window I will play and rate your game(will borrow vive from a friend) just to see how much could be done in vive in 2 days. The trailer does looks promising. I will give complete review once I play it.

Great job on this game, I had a lot of fun playing it! Here is a bit of feedback: - The shooting is nice and responsive, but it took me awhile to figure out how to reload, and I'm sill not sure what the multiplier does - The background music is good, but is a bit too peaceful considering the premise of the game - The sound effects for shooting the gun were totally out of place and weird, and a there should probably be a subtle "Successful Hit" sound effect to cue the player that they've hit the target - The animated 3D Models of the creatures were really well done (I'm guessing that's more your team's specialty) but the environment wasn't particularly interesting. Perhaps instead of making so many creature models, just make a couple good ones and focus your time in other areas of the project. Quality over quantity and all that.

Overall, not bad at all! Nice work 👍

My favourite thing about this entry are the designs of the creatures, so organic, lovely and bouncy animations. Wish the gameplay was a little more varied but it's a nice effort, congrats!

@Sky Thanks for the feedback and rating. We've hopefully addressed a lot of those issues in the post-jam update :) The creatures are a representation of the numbers 0-9 and the multiplier allows you to increase your score to the target value.

I sadly don't have the hardware, but thumbs are pressed you'll get to 20 ratings anyhow, since your game looks super cool!

I’m not sure if you were able to see it, but I played your game on my stream at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames tonight.

There was very solid game mechanics, thought you had a bit of jump scare when I turned around to find the creatures right next to me.

I liked the introduction to how the controllers worked and the opportunity to play with the mechanics before I entered a level. I would have liked the labeled controller to not spin, as it made it hard to read the labels. If it could have rotated 180 degrees back and forth like on a fan swivel that would have worked better. Just making the text backwards doesn't work well.

I wish there was a better indication as to what the guns would do. It took me a few playthroughs to realize that one was subtracting and the other doing addition. I thought one was multiplying.

Was there a reason why I would run out of bullets? It felt sudden when it happened and I didn't know if there was a way to get them back.

My High Score wasn't visible in the main menu, so when I played I didn't actually get to see what score I received since I was focused on shooting the creatures.

I like you you incorporated the number value of the creatures with the amount of limbs. This worked really well and helped me understand their value, especially with the tutorial in the menu screen. It would have been nice to have a score in the tutorial that would display so I could better learn what the guns did before I began play. I didn't know what value on my right wrist meant.

Thank you for making this game. I hope you continue to work on it and possibly add multiplication and division with a goal. If you truly want this to be an educational game having 4 creatures come at you and you need to get to a specific number before the touch you could be interesting. Like have 0, 1, 4, and 9 with the goal of getting to 5 using multiplication, addition, and subtraction.

Hi! I enjoyed your submission, I like the trigger pressing on the gun, and the gameplay core was solid. I did run out of bullets soon though, which I didn't really understand. Overall, great submission!

BTW, we’re still a couple reviews short for our own VR submission, so we appreciate any feedback: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/the-ultimate-magic-duelling-tournament-vr

@saoi-games Thanks for the play through and great feedback. We noticed that the objective and controls were not immediately apparent so we've added some more information on the entry page. We've made some great changes post-LD if you wanna give that a go too for comparison :)

It looks super awesome! Didn't rate, because I don't own HTC Vive. :slight_frown:

hitchh1k3r 2018-05-15 04:58

The graphics were really nice, the shooting and reloading very felt natural.

It was not immediately obvious that it was a math game... finding myself in a field with guns, and being set upon by plants I naturally shot at them indiscriminately.

It was a fun game, unique concept, and awesome graphics! Good work!
