Congrats on doing your first ludum dare!! That's great! :) The game seems to be just clicking on food and rocks with little change, but it was fun and the song is nice! good job!

Great music, and great title art. The idea of clicking on different resources with various timing considerations for each click, it's not a bad idea. How about with fast pacing and a wide resource variety from the outset?
Congrats on the first Ludum Dare game, and welcome to the community. The game was pretty fun, though it lacked variations. Overall a pretty good experience, but there are improvements to make. Keep working, and just maybe you can get top 10!
Here is my thoughts about your game:
- I like the idea. - I miss some sound effects. - Some way to see my progression (how much resources I need to go to the next planet) would be good. - The music is good.
I hope this helps. =)
I enjoyed the music, and I think I see the direction in which you headed with the game, which is nice! It could use some polish but for a first time, well done!
Good first attempt. The song is also nice! Maybe consider using something else than Java next time(Gamemaker? Unity?)
I don't want to sound stupid, but I couldn't figure out how to get off the first planet, and all I could do was click the plant to increase my food. Could you comment me the controls? I'd love to play properly!
@baconinvader In order to move on to the next planet, you need to collect a certain amount of each of the four resources. You only start with one. As you collect more of a certain resource, another one will pop up. Once you've collected a certain amount of all four, then you can move on to the next planet. If you're willing to do a little digging into the code, you can find the amounts needed for everything.
I agree that it's not completely obvious what to do. We were planning to have text pop up to provide hints and add to the story, however due to unforeseen circumstances, we were not able to implement that in time.
what was the goal of it? I pushed the plant a couple of times, but it just increased my food and that was it? I gave up at around 15 food.
It's an incremental/clicker game. Think Cookie Clicker or Clicker Heros or AdVenture Capitalist. We took a slightly different approach to it however. You got the point, it takes a while and probably not balanced very well.
Nice little game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_cfsd64xFk
with openjdk-jre8, I get this error while tring to start the game: ```sh $ java -jar Home-LD.jar Erreur : impossible de trouver ou charger la classe principale com.github.jmatcj.ld40.LDJam40 ```
Translation from a human knowing next to nothing to Java: "Error: impossible to find or load the main class com.github.jmatcj.ld40.LDJam40"
Yeah I think I screwed up the Linux detection. My apologies.
This was our first attempt at making a game, so it was a great training experience. There are many times where we have to look at a lot of code we have made and essentially start from scratch. Overall, while this is not the most advanced technology and the perfect game, we are proud of the result. You can have https://www.nyrentownsell.com/blog/how-to-find-the-best-convertible-space-in-the-financial-district/ for now. We were given only 72 hours (where we only spent close to 24 hours!), And we played the game (very much).
