Quite hard for me, but still enjoyable :) Nice work!
I found the game quite buggy. At first diagonal movement to top left corner didn't work. Then suddenly fixed and worked properly, but my speed effect really decreased. Like a lot. (bonus +18 or something like that). Also the gameplay could have been little more thought through .. The game is really hard at the beginning but gets really ez if you spend your metal right. Might have been the other way around - something like the more metal you have, the slower you are, but also the more points you get. But that is just an idea. Overall the game has great theme, is really fun to play and I love the sound and graphical effects. Good job, man! :)
Very fun game! I loved the upgrade system and deflecting enemy attacks was very satisfying when a chain reaction of deflections happened.
Only advice I could give would be to try and make the UI a bit clearer. Just increase the font size a bit?
Very fun game overall! Good job!
This is really enjoyable to play, the sound effects for the deflections make it really satisfying to successfully block something. I'm a sucker for horizontal shooters like this and you really made it entertaining with the bouncing bullets, which also provided a nice take on the theme as they kept on bouncing around. My main issue is that some of the upgrades seem a bit overpowered, especially the speed upgrade which after a few levels grants you an indefinite shield from anything in front of you. Otherwise really fun to play, nicely done!
Simple and enjoyable game. Keep it up!
I played more to this game than any other game in this LD for now. Very addictive. At some point, the game is won when you have to much attack speed : could use some special ennemies to avoid that? Good job !
Fellow LudumDarer from the same site! I enjoyed your presentation but the web version seems a bit too blurred, also I think the Menu UI might use some work (not sure what to press). However, the main character is very nice and I enjoyed the flow of the game! Thanks :)
Hey, nice concept and nice, hard gameplay. Only the colliders should be better, because actually you can die really easy by being to close (not touching) the enemy ship. Great Job!
Very addictive game, great job! One thing to keep an eye, when you have enough speed (50% bonus or more), you can simply stay on bottom left corner spamming the space key and will hardly get hit. I managed to stay 3 minutes alive doing this.
It's fun and I like the timing part, but I felt like the hitbox on the player was a bit too large for it to feel fair. Making the hitbox smaller but giving more variation to the bullet spreads could be way to explore this idea further. The UI is horrible but I found that only adds to the charm, and it does have an abundance of that. All in all, good job!
Nice game! I like the timing part. Hit-boxes felt a bit wonky. The timing felt weird at times, as if you held the button down, it would only work sometimes. Other than that, VERY fun game, and I heavily enjoyed it!
it's really cool, the sound is very cool ... good job!
This was great! I felt that the theme was a biiiiiiiiit of stretch but overall the game felt great and the progression was satisfying. Keep up the good work!
Really neat concept. But here's some suggestions:
-A lot of the sprites are blurry and it's hard to tell the collideable area of the enemy ships.
-The sound for the title screen is a bit too loud. You might want to decrease the volume or change it entirely.
But still neat game and your pushing the theme a bit : P
Hope my suggestions help
This ship-woman-thingy has not evolved far enough, she dies really easily! :-) Really nice game, I liked it a lot. But I found the controls to be a bit awkward somehow, not so easy to control. A bit of more polish and this could be a really cool(er) game! Carry on!
I liked your game. I played it quite a bit! :D Hit boxes are quite annoying thought. Try to make them closer match to the actual sprites of ships and player. Also maybe some (particle)effect to indicate the actual radius of your attacks would be helpful and look really cool.
Looks solid. I'd like to be able to hit from farther, I get hit too easily right after I hit a ship - and the game is not forgiving.
Graphics look kinda wierd, the menu is unpleasant, but the parry feels good!!! Rewarding to say the least.
I love it, I will probably play it again :) the tongue in cheek way in which the game is described puts me even more in the mood. shmup rogue like works really well, because even if you die fast , you want to spend your money so you do not stop playing ! Minor advice: from a usability standpoint, going from mouse to keyboard is a bit painful, I would allow keyboard navigation of the menu screen not to break the flow.
i like this game, it's solid and hardcore.
Semi-naked woman warrior in the space... with a sword :D brillian and cheesy at the same time! Pretty hard but nice.
Half naked women in spaaaaaace, I love it!
It was a bit difficult for me, so we are touché on that with our squares. :) But I feel you can learn the timing.
The sound effects and music fit very well and make it so much more enjoyable. Also I really like how the projectiles keep bouncing off the walls. Great experience!
This game is quite innovative, i dont think i recognize this kinda deflecting woman floating in space game XD i really liked the deflecting part, it felt very lovely, great sound work, quite rewarding, if i have to say one thing that could be better, it might be the shop icons in the cornor, maybe make them more noticisable? The only reason i noticed them, was because it said "x Metal Gears to spend" which lead me to belive, theres a shop somewhere. Great game overall, i really enjoyed it, keep up the good work man!!! :D
What a crazy game! I hate those ricochet either I'm too sleepy to see them coming or this is a difficult mechanic to master.
I love the way the bullets bounce with each other, the whole mechanic is very innovative
The UI would need to change a bit those red/green gradients where a bit disturbing.
You nailed a couple of really important pieces here. Firstly, the actual reflection of the projectile feels really good. It's just super satisfying with that metallic clank sound, the change in color, and so on. Second, there's totally a "one more time" hook with this game.
I'm not really a big player of grindy progression games, so eventually the pacing lost me. But I played it a bunch because I kept wanting to upgrade my speed and start dashing all around! I feel like the really fun game that *I* wanted to play was in there, but I had to upgrade 20 levels to get at it. But I totally understand that this is a design tradeoff, and what you get with the upgrade based game is a hook that can really pull the player deep into the game in a way that a "here's everything at once" game can't do.
So nice work, the reflection of projectiles, destruction of ships, the puffs of smoke when projectiles bounce off the top/bottom of the screen, the smokey slow-fall trail from the protagonist, the way the background music rotated songs between plays.... you have done a great job of putting so many small touches into it. And that's on TOP of the whole upgrade system!
Great job.
Ah, a good old bullet hell. Not bad, the reflection mechanic was pretty fun to use and the controls felt decent as well which is very important in a game like this. So overall it was well put together.
I liked the ricocheting bullets. It felt a bit hard to hit them at times, but overall a good game.
Reflecting stuff was fun & I enjoyed accumulating upgrades. Hmm where's that smoke coming from anyway? gril2.gif
Cool concept and fun to play. It had that "one more go" vibe which kept me playing for a while. I like the idea of the projectiles being sold objects that can interact with each other. made for a nice cascading effect and you could do some serious damage with just one swing. I wasn't a fan of the graphics, but I think that's probably just a lack of polish. Otherwise, great work! I'd love to see you take this further and polish it up.
I like the concept! I think you have to spend more time on graphic design, for example the menu was MEH, The character is in pixelart style, so I think it was better disable antialiasing. We really enjoyed the mechanics by the way!
When my valkyrie swung a sword to deflect bullets and watched them bounce off the edge of the screen, I felt focused! If you continue to develop this game, after deflecting bullets, I didn't pick up a tactic for how I might time the deflections to consistently shoot the ships.
