Awesome. Very nice work
SO. HARD. But feels great! Until my arm starts aching, about 2 mins in :p
So great to see a VR game! An excuse to setup my headset again. Will play when I get home :)
@lewis-quaife if you like VR games, go check out the submission by @virtual-window... it needs some loving <3
Fuck I wish I could play this. Don't have VR headset.
@croewens Get a Windows Mixed Reality headset! (assuming you're on Windows 10)
They're probably the most affordable ones out there atm and they're quite decent. :)
Okay so this game was physically way too hard for me but somehow I managed to get through to the end, I think each level took me at least 100 goes, I do NOT know how to throw lol. But whoa you got so much content here, it's awesome! And it's a very You game!
I downloaded it and it got stucked just before started playing! D:
This is brilliant and impossible - I threw 41 cards at the first hole and got maybe three of them anywhere near it. Great idea, impeccably executed, and exactly as difficult (and compelling) as it would be in real life. Fantastic work.
I didn't expect to see VR games here. Nice Work. Feel Free to drop a review at our game https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/boomball
I finally got my VR setup and this is one of the first things I played! I like the game but it's much too difficult. I think it would make sense to teleport to the card's position when it lands so that you can move closer to the hole over time like in mini-golf. This is basically trying to get a hole-in-one every single time, lol. I averaged around 40 throws per hole until I got to level 6 where I threw over 100 and called it quits
You are correct @Sky. Problem is if I kept repositioning the player I also had to check the surrounding area to make sure the player doesn't get positioned inside the wall, didn't have the time for adding such checks so I had to compromise, which is why the player only moves if you hit teleport pads, more control over where the player went.
A post-jam version could potentially be more golf-like, I wanted to add multiplayer to it as well as a level editor so that might become a thing.
it was hard to play, but great work!!
I got to the end! ^-^ (i'd rather not talk about how many cards I threw tho :p) + I kept grabbing cards hoping that I'd be able to get a hole in one if my wrist stack was long enough to reach lol
>Dude, all you need to do is juice it up. + the ability to stick(embed) cards into things would be dope.
I’m not sure if you were able to see it, but I played your game on my stream at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames tonight.
You game is so hard. It is definitely good, but so very very hard.
How dare you set up my expectations that it is possible to get that tiny card in the whole within three throws.
Since this was inspired by golf, I expected to be able to teleport around.
Besides the difficulty level, everything else seemed very polished.
I only wish there was a more obvious queue about which level I was on when I switched to level two. At first I thought the barrier was a portal to level 2.
Hi! I enjoyed your game, but as said before it is pretty hard! It took me some tries to get the throwing mechanic right (I didn't stretch my hand too far and the card didn't get thrown). Pro submission!
BTW, we're still a couple reviews short for our own VR submission, so we appreciate any feedback: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/the-ultimate-magic-duelling-tournament-vr
This looked awesome. The gameplay was rather fun too, one of the best VR games I've seen in the recent Ludum Dares. I must be out of shape though, because it was not long at all before my arms started hurting. ^_^
Ultimately I had to give up on hole 8 after 1025 throws... but I saw the final one in the video (a skip level button, maybe after ~100 throws, would have been nice).
This was really fun, but maybe should have been named "Cardey-O" ^_^
My favorite feature was probably rotating the starting pad, it allowed for me to change the world a bit to get more comfortable with the throwing angle (important when your bad at disc golf like me, and have to throw hundreds of times ^_^). Good work!
