The contrast between the graphics and the thoughful mood has a very strong appeal. Many things to interact with and a pretty interesting take on the point and click genre.

Good job!

naivehawk 2016-12-13 20:18

I took it as an analogy for married life...minus the murder and suicide

titomakanijr 2016-12-14 06:36

@palarus Thank you for the comment! I was worried that the art style was a bit to cute for the mood I wanted in the later half of the game.

@naivehawk Haha I hadn't really thought of it that way, but now that you say something it for sure has some parrallels.

mrevilguy 2016-12-14 08:13

Sad story. This all would have been solved if they just played soccer with the giant exercise ball. Instead we have a dead person. Great graphics and music!

andybrown 2016-12-14 08:41

Interesting game! I was expecting the airlock to be used to kill one of them from the space madness. The end was a bit more gruesome. The flavor text was great though, I had a few chuckles in there.

titomakanijr 2016-12-14 08:50

@MrEvilGuy If only it were so simple! Thank you so much! I spent probably a day and a half making all the art, which at the end of the 3rd day I decided was way to long as I cut every corner to get a working game lol.

@ursagames I have an unused bathroom, ball, and airlock animation. I had to cut a lot of things to finish on time unfortunately, and that was just one of them.

ijzm 2016-12-14 08:59

Heh, a short but tragic story. I like the pixelated graphics, and the text changing when the days pass. It wasn't exactly clear what I had to click on in order to actually progress the game, which I would have liked to see. There were quite a few typos in the text as well, but I liked the narrative overall.

~Random-storykeeper

zzapp 2016-12-14 09:07

Nice idea, the graphics are really great, although the story got pretty dark towards the end there. It was still a enjoyable game experience, since the flavor text was pretty humorous at times. Good job.

titomakanijr 2016-12-14 09:18

@ijzm Sorry about that! I only put in some text about the objective when clicking on the bed, but I must admit that was a rather quick fix. Yeah I made all the object text late-ish in the last day so I was typing quiet furiously, If I do more work on it I will be sure to spell check everything... Maybe move it into word for a second haha. Anywho thanks for playing the game!

@zzapp Yeah as I said above I was very worried the tone shift would be too quick. Unfortunately my plans for the project were a bit too big for the time I had so I had to cut out a day and some interactions between Lisa and Rick which I think caused the ending to feel as though it comes out of nowhere. Thanks for playing though!

detectivegame37 2016-12-14 09:39

Excellent game! Very well created, nice mood and actual story to tell! Gj!

stupidmindlessf 2016-12-14 09:40

Great mood and nice visuals. I liked the contrast of art and story. I would have wished for a little more interactivity and at the end game there are some continuity issues with the things he says (still referring to her, while she is already gone.)
Great use of the theme, neat game and quite the achievement.

titomakanijr 2016-12-14 09:52

@DetectiveGame37 Thank you so much I really appreciate that!

@stupidmindlessf I had plans for more objects to be interactable which is why they were in the background but I had to disable a lot of them when I started running out of time to write the text for each day. This is my first jam so I wasn't really sure what counted as a bug or feature, but to play it safe I decided not to add any new objects after the deadline. Anyways thank you so much for taking the time to play it and letting me know about some of the errors haha.

erikiene 2016-12-14 10:17

Lisa's suit is similar specs as mine.. assuming the main char is a man, Lisa's been roasted, son!

sausage/10 - would win rubik's cube in 3 clicks again

Great work!

titomakanijr 2016-12-14 10:32

@erikiene LOL man I noticed too late that I wasn't decrementing the rubix array properly. I made a lot of different sprites for it so I was just hoping rnjesus would be with me. Thanks for playing!

radstar 2016-12-14 11:23

I reaaally liked the mood :)

owc 2016-12-14 11:25

Good work for beginer, but you need to add more interactive object and dialogues system.

rainssong 2016-12-14 11:28

Nice art

titomakanijr 2016-12-14 11:43

@AngrySquirrels Thanks dood.

@OWC I wish I would have had more time to put some in, the bathroom, airlock, and ball were all supposed to intractable but I had to cut them due to time restrictions. Also there were supposed to be around 6 other observable objects. Anywho thanks for the feedback and playing the game!

@rainssong thank you so much! I've been learning to make pixel art for a little bit now but this was my first big project, i'm pretty happy with how it turned out

pixtopher 2016-12-14 12:24

Well done, amazing atmosphere! Best game i have played so far.

titomakanijr 2016-12-14 12:31

@Pixthopher For real? This coming from the guy who made my favorite game so far! That means a lot! I went back and played more Circl, still haven't beat it but I was so close!

rodobodolfo 2016-12-14 12:43

Brilliant! Loved the style, loved the story and different interactions everyday. That ending! Hahaha. Really enjoyed this. 5/5

vadim-ivshin 2016-12-14 12:53

Graphics reminded me of "Gods will be watching"

2bit 2016-12-14 13:36

Haha, I was not expecting story. That was great.

marcelomori 2016-12-14 14:05

Interesting game. I really enjoyed it! Nice art style and the atmosphere is amazing! Nice work!

darkbloodstudios 2016-12-14 16:04

Really nice. It would be good if the texts don't disappear by them self but by pressing a key. For non native english speakers it is sometimes a little bit fast.

titomakanijr 2016-12-14 17:44

@rodobodolfo Haha thank you for taking the time to play it! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

@VadimIvshin I absolutely adore Gods Will be Watching! I for sure took a lot of inspiration from that game and S:S&S when finding my style.

@2Bit Thanks man! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

@marcelomori Haha I hope its good interesting...! Thank you for taking the time to play it

@DarkBloodStudios Sorry about that, I had played with making the text timer a bit longer but ended up leaving it shorter. If I make another text heavy game I will keep this in mind for sure! Thanks for the feedback!

madlee 2016-12-14 17:48

Nice job, good atmosphere! I noticed one little bug - when playing with a gamepad and moving with and analog stick, the sprite actually rotates when moving up/down :) Good work!

titomakanijr 2016-12-14 18:07

@madlee Thank you so much for pointing that out! I didn't do any testing with a game pad, but I will look into this so I don't have a similar problem on future projects.

uliana-galich 2016-12-14 19:42

Oh man I like your pixel art, it looks so much awesome arararra

titomakanijr 2016-12-14 19:44

@UlianaGalich Thank you so much! I honestly spent about 65+ percent of my time making the art for the game so I really appreciate hearing you liked it!

wdebowicz 2016-12-14 20:18

Great game! I like the story, the walking animation is cute, and the concept of calendar is interesting. I had a fun!

piwicode 2016-12-14 20:21

Talking about the madness that can result in being stuck in a room is interesting. The fact that we have to go do bed establishes put the emphasis on the repetitiveness of such a life. Fortunately the have a panoramic view with something to see.
I like the pixel art, animations are ok. The writing is nice too.
Thanks for making this game.

titomakanijr 2016-12-14 20:31

@wdebowicz Thank you! This was my first time creating a walk cycle and was rather worried that it turned out a little goofy looking. Also if you spam the move keys it looks like the character is ice skating LOL.

@piwicode Yeah the game was supposed to be more about isolation and the stress of being stuck in that sort of a situation. I was hoping the passage of time would be apparent through the calander and logs, and by going to bed each day it shows that this is just a glimpse into their lives at different points of their ill-fated voyage. Thanks for taking the time to play it!

oultrox 2016-12-14 22:04

Pretty chill but I would've prefered graphics to be pixel perfect, I like the style though, wish font would be more pixelated too!

titomakanijr 2016-12-14 22:08

@oultrox I totally agree, the thing that really bugged me was the window which didn't line up properly. I'm not sure why I didn't just make it a separate sprite!!! I didn't even consider a pixelated font, but if I had more time that would have been very cool. Anyways thanks for the feedback and playing the game!

obvious_san 2016-12-14 23:22

Gruesome. I didn't realise the chair was even interactable until after my first playthrough! I played it again and it seems he really did like that chair a lot... I liked the way the story was told through interactions with various objects around them because I think in that situation those things would take on a lot of significance, but I think Link would have been a better choice of "victim" than chair :P

- randomhuman

titomakanijr 2016-12-14 23:27

@Obvious_San I honestly don't know why I didn't think of that... where were you when I was writing out the text!!! Haha. Anyways Thanks for the feedback and playing the game!

- fellow randomhuman

asturk 2016-12-14 23:34

Well, the mood in this game is really great, the story starts very simple but get sinister and dark while a keep going through it, what make the game great! good job!

peachtreeoath 2016-12-15 07:55

The story initially struck me as similar to that Passengers movie coming out....and then it went 0-100 real quick haha. The story kept me entertained throughout, especially cuz you didn't take long to make the story have weight.

warmlemon 2016-12-15 08:30

WHAT A TWIST

titomakanijr 2016-12-15 08:53

@Asturk That is exactly the feeling I was going for! Thank you so much man!

@PeachTreeOath Oh boy I am so excited for that movie! Yeah it sure does, which is one of the few things I don't love about the finish project. I am glad you understand though!

@WarmLemon I was hoping to Shyamalan someone haha

albert-viader 2016-12-15 10:33

Good job! I like the details as Link figure and dialog.

stylo21 2016-12-15 10:43

OH god, why, poor Lisa :(
Very good game, thanks for making it.

nikteddy92 2016-12-15 11:42

Wow.. great feelings around this game.
I really liked the atmosphere you created and the story was intense.
Well done!

simonhutchinson 2016-12-15 15:50

Great work. An unexpectedly grim turn at the end, though. Kind a pixelated "Dead Space"....

Fantastic job on the graphics. I'll have to check out Pyxel Edit!

bigbuggames 2016-12-16 01:01

I would not like to be in the situation of your story haha! Nice art, nice audio! Good job

guigs 2016-12-16 02:31

Nice audio and graphics!

uruca-games 2016-12-16 03:31

Very good game !!! The story and gameplay have been performed very well. Congratulations!

joeprogram 2016-12-16 03:33

Nice entry! Congrats on your first game project!

titomakanijr 2016-12-16 04:12

@AlbertViader thank you I was a bit worried how the link would come out with such a small pixel area to work with but I was really happy with it.

@Stylo21 Yeah no problem, I had a lot of fun working on it so I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it!

@Nikteddy92 Thank you, I'm really happy with how the atmosphere seems to be coming across with everyone that has played! Also I'm digging your pixel protoss!

@SimonHutchinson Haha and the original story arc I had planned was even darker if you can imagine. Wow that is high praise! I wish I could even come close to making something with the same tension and dread as Dead Space. Please do! I absolutely love it, it makes creating tiles and animations super simple.

@MpowG Thank you!

@UrucaGames Thank you I really appreciate that

@JoeProgram Thanks man, I'm really happy with how it ended up. And honestly the feedback is more than I ever could have hoped for

makhovykh 2016-12-16 14:19

I like his walk animation :D

mvieira 2016-12-16 15:36

Liked the gameplay! Good Job.

firellon 2016-12-16 16:07

Nice entry, very atmospheric and art is good
More of a short interactive story, than a game, actually
I'd like to have more endings =)

big-cow 2016-12-16 16:40

This was great! Reminded me of the ren and stimpy episode "space madness" :) also the character style is great and makes me think of Swords and Sworcery. Its such a great idea to have his attitude to the very same objects evolve over time as he changes. Overall true to the theme, intriguing and eventually shocking (in a good way). Thanks -RS

ato 2016-12-16 20:01

I really liked the graphics style. Did you make the music? I liked it too. If yes, then what music software did you use?
Looking at the visual side reminded me of Space Quest I. Of course, your graphics is much more detailed, but that was the connection that I did in my mind. Really nice game.

kddekadenz 2016-12-16 23:05

Wow awesome game, especially for your first finished one!
Woah, just realized the guy is named like me and the woman like one of my exes o.O :O

axoona 2016-12-17 15:02

this is a nice game. I liked the visuals and the feel.
I would have wished for more interactivity but well..
anyway congrats on this entry!

columhiggins 2016-12-17 17:02

Great experience. Is there more than one ending?

angelbait 2016-12-18 00:27

Savage, thank you for letting me play.

titomakanijr 2016-12-18 01:44

@makhovykh Thank you! I had a few other ones before this one, but what I ended with I think looked pretty alright.

@mvieira Thanks for taking the time to play it

@Firellon I also would have loved to do something with branching paths, I think its always fun when you end up playing a game have your own unique story.

@BigCow Oh god I LOVE Ren and Stimpy. Thank you so much! I really appreciate that, I am crazy about the style of S:S&S, so I'm so happy to hear about any comparisons haha!

@ato The music came from Abundant-Music.com, which is procedurally generated (SO COOL)!

@tinyworlds Thank you, I am super happy with what ended up coming out. Haha, maybe I'll add a "Based on a true story" at the start

@axoona Thanks for the feedback, I totally agree that more interactivity would have gone a long way.

@columhiggins Unfortunately there is only one ending, but as I said I would have loved to have had branching paths.

@Angelbait Well thank you for taking the time to play the game!

obsessivenotion 2016-12-18 01:55

Ludumdare is one of those places where I get nostalgia

soulbound 2016-12-18 07:47

Well done! The music and art create an atmosphere that fits the story perfectly.

neontropics 2016-12-18 12:24

Wow, this turned dark! Great storytelling, the little animations were simple but awesome (especially that one scene...)

Fonts and text and stuff could pronably be made a bit cooler.

Well done !!

seano 2016-12-18 14:43

Nice story! It was fun to play. I would have had like some choices though to get more gameplay out of it.

mementogames 2016-12-18 18:21

Beautiful art, great audio and cool story!
Splendid entry!

balbinoaylagas 2016-12-18 22:20

I really loved the game, it was interesting and simple. i really liked the design ideas and the way the game presented with the computer all that was happening. the music was good. awesome experience.

darkavenger211 2016-12-19 00:51

Very fun, I loved seeing his changing opinions on things in the room

automatonvx 2016-12-22 01:55

Loved it, I thought the combination of the artwork, music and humour made it really atmospheric. I was not expecting it to get so dark so quick. Personally I thought the combination of quite cute pixel graphics with a dark story line works well to make things feel less obvious. It also took me a while to figure out i needed to go the the bed to advance things. Obviously more interaction, different narrative branches etc would be cool too, but hard in the time. Great job

minato4th 2016-12-27 11:51

For me it is inetersting, but story didnt grabbed me. In same time you done a greate job well done!

tkachov 2016-12-29 08:00

Kinda sad. I think it isn't an actual quest, because all player needs to do is just keep pushing story forward by writing a log and sleeping. I liked how you changed the description for all the items and that the planet in the window was different, but I think some variety in the gameplay is necessary too. Nice graphics, btw.

oddly-shaped-pixels 2017-01-02 12:00

Cool narrative experience, I really like th writing and the point of view twist at the end, it's well done!

jupiter_hadley 2017-01-08 20:37

Very interesting game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 37 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/sgVfFX3jjXQ
