Hi guys. There are no links... :(

ilya096 2020-10-06 03:37

Hi, @ketor , we fixed links! And check our fixed version v2.1.1, we added few new levels there!

I rated the 1.0 version given that you added level to your v2 that shouldn't be considered toward the note of the jam but I'll give you feedback on the second given that you must have thought about the flaws about your first version.

Your idea is pretty cool and I really like how it fits into the theme. Your new levels really upgrade the game compared to the v1.0 which was not clear after the 1st level. One flaw that I noticed in both versions (but less impactful in the 2nd given that there are less death) is that, if you die, your next play will end at the frame you died, which make it impossible to repair a mistake without restarting the entire level. A small upgrade I thought of would be to allow the player to skip to the next iteration through a button instead of having to wait until the end of the countdown, it would make the game more dynamic. Finally, a background music and sound effect would be nice (on that note, you should opt out of audio rating).

I hope I wasn't too harsh in my comment because I liked your second version of the game: it has really cool graphics and an interesting gameplay and I think it has a lot of potential to grow so I encourage you to continue working on it after the jam :)

Hi @vivien-fargette!

Thank you for your feedback! Surely the comment version is not quite for jam, just for those who are interested in the game itself. There is T button for restart level and R button for restarting loop. We couldn't make the sounds at time unfortunately :C

Your past version is still you, so he can die and win the same way. And also you are able to "save" yourself, because your past versions are not "ghosts", you can interrupt them. We plan levels when you use that more than now. That won't feel like problem anymore since you known R and T keys now, I suggest :)

@heiden-bzr I didn't know about the fact that your 1.0 was made in 24hours and the 2.0 was the jam game so I'll adapt my notes accordingly

About the mechanics of saving your doubles, I didn't understand it like that but now it feels more interesting but can still be frustrating if you die really early (especially as you restart after your old you started moving) so maybe the ability to "erase" your last run if you died early, let's say in the 10 first frames, could be a cool upgrade

heiden-bzr 2020-10-07 14:56

@vivien-fargette we will think about that! I also think that would be fine to get first levels without death at all, to the let the player time to learn the game mechanics when it's safe, you know.

Nice idea for the game, and fits the theme in a very interesting way

Pretty original idea for this, you can increase game dynamics to make in more enjoyable

The cover picture looks really nice. Too bad I'm not on windows so can't play it :D

I've played v2.0. Controls could be improved, jump gains too much momentum/speed and it takes a lot to slow down, so I ended up missing the head of my previous self that I was trying to stack on. Also, if one of your previous self dies, you have to start all again since you will not been able to win (unless you try your best to save him before he dies I guess). Maybe a way to cancel the previous self to try it again would have been nice.

In the second level, I managed to went on the second eagle and make it move, but when I tried to jump to the next platform the loop start again, I don't know why, maybe there was a time limit for everyone of them but I didn't understand it.

It also happened to me that "giant throw you in the air skyrim" effect. Like if I go to the eagle that goes upwards and jump at the end, I gain a lot of momentum and jump super high.

The concept is cool, keep going!

Interesting! It's definitely an odd choice having the levels reset when your duplicates from a previous run dies. Its definitely unique, but hard to keep everything in tow. Neat game, and great work!

Great game! I played version 2. It was really fun, and had a unique gaming mechanic as well! I've seen games that have something similar, but it's pretty neat that you can collide with your past selves. It's a really unique play on the mechanic. I actually didn't realize I could save myself using that...I could have spared myself a lot of level restarts if I considered that ^^; But yeah, the graphics are really good. I just wish I knew what the "iters" thing on the corner was all about. I also felt like the jumping was a tad too floaty. I feel like that could be intentional, to make things a bit trickier - and it's a good idea - it just would be nice if the floatiness was brought down a bit. Overall though I really liked this game. Well done!

Cool! Stacking multiple players on top of each other is a great mechanic, and I liked the button thing at the beginning. Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to get past that. The art was a little jagged, and it seemed like the sprites were still loading in sometimes for some reason. Overall great entry!

This was a lot of fun! The fact that you can collide with past versions of yourself and that they have to stay alive as well makes this stand out against all the other very similar games. I really liked how you can jump off other clone's heads to give yourself a boost but also mess up their jump, which leads to some pretty interesting situations. My favourite part is the bird in the forest level which allows you to launch yourself all the way to the finish. The art was a bit inconsistent but looks pretty good, especially the forest backgrounds! Great job!
