LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Cat Clicker by Mr.MadCat 2017-12-08T15:45:53Z

That was a nice game! I was set on playing all through it and really had fun. 1. The kittens are super cute. I like the sounds and animations. Also the "realistic" details (e.g. first eat, then poop, then sleep) 2. Great use of music, I especiallly liked the dramatic tension and the death music. 3. The quest system is a nice touch and keeps you active and thinking

I found a few things: 1. Map scrolling is annoying. I only used a small part, because even that was hard to keep track of, but I would constantly accidentally scroll off and it took me some time to figure out, how to get back. That's how my first cats died. 2. The game seems not to be sure about which sprite goes in front of which. I sometimes didn't see cats at all or got blinking issues. 3. The button collect reward is super unintuitive! I made 30 000 bucks before realising, I would have long won. If a quest is fulfilled, reward needs to come automatically 4. I didn't understand the incest part. I always bred with storebought cats and still got lots of genetic defects. Does it work by color? Or random?

I would have also wished for an endscreen, to make it feel less sudden.

Overall a great game! keep it going :)

Cute drawings! The controls were not intuitive, I didnt get the camera movement at first. I liked the puzzle aspect, but the combination with quick controls was well, worse the more you have, I guess..

Smack`Em! by mess110 2017-12-13T17:56:26Z

I played it on mute first and then realized I need to put on my headphones and the audio just killed me xD The creatures (moles?) were cute, but I would have wished for the animations to have more variance, i.e. that one creature does not always the same thing. You made several animaitons anyway, you could just randomly switch between them. My highscore was just 21 xD

I got stuck a few times, but it was a lot of fun overall. Great job!

Beet-hoven by jamioflan 2019-10-24T18:55:20Z

Tbh, without the colours I wouldn't have known where to start. Was quite fun to figure out and I had a good time searching for the seeds. It was a bit slow and I wished for a backpack so I wouldn't have to gather the seeds one by one. Overall, quite fun. Might have learnt a bit of music by accident ^^

Solid graphics and animations, I was wondering if you have heard of smooth shading in Blender or if the rough edges were a design choice?

In the beginning I had a weird graphics glitch, where red and blue were seperated like in old 3D-movies, I could fix it by tabbing out of the game (windows-button).

The Greatest Game in the World by AhmenX 2019-10-24T17:40:42Z

The peanut + butter cracked me up!

Nothing but Ghosts and Clouds by xatulu 2019-10-24T17:13:46Z

That was fun! The last level was pretty hard, I took a long time to get the double jump up to the platform with the blue crystal right. The ending was funny and witty. Nice game, good music, fun to play - a solid entry!

Shi no ganbo by Simon Rahnasto 2019-10-10T17:44:32Z

It is so nice and beautiful and even the sounds are well made, I wish I could play through it and experience the story. It looks awesome and I'm curious. However, I can't for the life of me manage these double-jumps. I always miss the platforms :(

I ragequit on the bit after the first health potion after half an hour. I know it can be done, but I just can't do it. Too hard for inexperienced players with slow fingers.

Polychromatic Escape by BLK Dragon 2019-10-10T17:05:29Z

The riddle was quite well done! Nice and fun. The sound design matched the scenery and was unobtrusive. I didn't like the character design, I think it is quite sexist. A realistic human character with no clothes but shoes and bodypaint. The animations looked flowing, the jumping was a bit odd. The stone texture was nice, some of the normals seem to be flipped, I could glitch the character inside some of the stones. The light guns had a nice animation and sound, in some camera angles they shot through the character, which was a bit odd. Camera movement in such a complex environment is tricky, it was ok.

BLOB by Dudum Lare 2019-10-24T16:30:30Z

I like the minimalistic design, the background song was well-made. It was however, not looped in the Desktop version, I think. So towards the end the silence was a bit awkward. P for planting was good to remember, but a bit awkward to reach on the keyboard, since one hand had to be at the mouse. I enjoyed playing with the colour slider, the build up of the environment was well paced.

Trick or Retreat by Lone_Wolf 2019-10-10T17:16:36Z

Cute alien game, creative idea, could've used a bit more variation and a skippable intro.

Leverage by BilalCh213 2019-10-10T16:31:53Z

Sound is awesome, I really like how it builds and warps and decreases with the levers, I also quite like the design and idea behind it. The bot destruction is real eye-candy and the sounds are satisfying. It seems well-coded and all bug-free. The UI could be a bit nicer to handle, I personally think it would have been nicer, to dedicate part of the screen to it instead of right-clicking. It took me a bit to figure out how to use it. As previous people mentioned, switching between the scenes really broke the flow, because you couldn't just click twice on the same spot. Using the up and down arrows on the keyboard would have worked nicely.

The level-building wasn't so good, though. It would have been nicer to have some smaller, tutorial-style levels that don't last as long, with less levers to protect and less scenes to switch. 180 seconds feels like an eternity and you need to make only a tiny mistake to lose all your progress. I spent about half an hour and couldn't get through the first level.

Trueque by victor_reiner 2019-10-10T17:59:54Z

Very funny :) It is very hard to loose the game, but the little comments are quite enjoyable. I stayed in the menu in the beginning just to listen to the awesome music. Very well done and atmospheric. The "Ahhh" sound when completing a transaction is a bit weird, but it fits the easy-going, joking atmosphere of the game. Well done!
