Brilliant idea! I loved how you move on the cube without falling anywhere. A very good example of a game that doesn't need complex visuals to be fascinating. Everythings is clear and the colours concept is very cool. Nice music and menu. Solid good entry!

jakemchugh1 2019-10-10 16:44

This has great graphics!

hiroboto 2019-10-10 16:48

I like the artstyle and the atmospher, control is also pretty nice and looks like GUNDAM hhhhhhh brilliant work!

simon-rahnasto 2019-10-10 16:57

Its really difficult to make a 3d game, its 100times harder to do it for a gamejam, I feel like you guys somehow managed anyway

I really like how the game-play takes place in a pretty small area but in a very "metroidvainia" style you unlock more and more places to go. So the place evolves overtime as you find items. Really good take on the theme!

Great entry overall!

daitse 2019-10-10 17:04

Nice game ! The platforms are just difficult enough to reach. Character controller takes a bit of time to get used to but the walk ability helps. The change of gravity direction is a nice touch. A "real" ending would have been nice for example a particle effect and you character disappearing before getting back to the main menu :)

danie 2019-10-10 17:05

The riddle was quite well done! Nice and fun. The sound design matched the scenery and was unobtrusive. I didn't like the character design, I think it is quite sexist. A realistic human character with no clothes but shoes and bodypaint. The animations looked flowing, the jumping was a bit odd. The stone texture was nice, some of the normals seem to be flipped, I could glitch the character inside some of the stones. The light guns had a nice animation and sound, in some camera angles they shot through the character, which was a bit odd. Camera movement in such a complex environment is tricky, it was ok.

blk-dragon 2019-10-10 17:09

@daitse I had literally no time left for making 'real' ending, not even a 10 minutes to add some particle-effect :)

daitse 2019-10-10 17:17

@blk-dragon yeah, I realized it was the case ^^ very nice entry nonetheless, congrats :)

frozen-spirit 2019-10-11 04:58

I thought the rotation around the planet was an interesting mechanic but I think it would be better if the was a bit more lenience in the jumps you have to do. Overall great job :>.

blk-dragon 2019-10-11 07:55

@danie character wears skin-tight leather suit -- probably a bit oversexualized (but not too much I believe). And jump "animations" are just a couple of poses :) (as usual, no time to do more)

digitaldude555 2019-10-11 08:44

I never found a single pod but I manged to get 5 pieces before I got stuck inside a rock and couldnt get out. My favorite part though was that audio track and the rotating camera and gravity mechanic plus its 3D dont see a lot of those games. Good effort.

ryano 2019-10-11 08:47

Really enjoyed the game. Finding the guns and combining the colors felt great. I did get stuck about half-way through inside of a rock though, so couldn't continue to the end.

blk-dragon 2019-10-11 08:59

@ryano Yea, collision-geometry is way too complex which (quite often) causes bugs -- making character movement/collision work in "full 3D" is much harder than I've thought :)

xakkar 2019-10-11 09:12

Cool graphics) I caught a couple of bugs: once stuck in a breach, and the second time fell into stone and could not get out (

bytinggames 2019-10-11 09:33

Awesome game! I wouldn't have thought, that the controls were this responsive giving my first impression on this ld page. Definitely good work on that, camera also works good, and the shots are really fired where you want them to be. The music and especially the sounds added to the atmosphere, although the shoot sounds could have been a bit quieter in my opinion. I think I've played the game through - collected the keyword, and destroyed all crystals. I guess there's no next level right? :) So yeah I'm happy to see a 3D platformer around here :D Of course a bit more variety like enemies would be awesome, but yeah I guess time's limited^^ Also good work on doing animations! The game seems enclosed, which makes a good impression.

blk-dragon 2019-10-11 09:39

@bytinggames Thanks! Enemies were planned (color-coded and all that) but I'v dropped them on the second day -- it was clear I barely have time for environment / shooting / keys /UI. I'm was thinking about mini-boss like big rock golem trying to kick you from cube to space :)

graphicedit 2019-10-11 11:12

Really cool game!

hatten 2019-10-11 20:12

Awesome game! The effect of walking on all sides of the cube was very cool. The character movement was not the smoothest and I got stuck in a rock several times but still very impressive.

ruddgasm 2019-10-11 20:47

Wow the change in gravity when you go over the edge of the cube is really cool. I did get stuck in between a red crystal and a wall and could not get out. Aside from that I enjoyed what I played. The character model was nice and I liked the overall environment. I would say that the movement of the character was a bit awkward at times. Nice work on the 3D!

croewens 2019-10-13 08:01

That's a really cool mechanic. From where do I remember this? Ratchet & Clank? And didn't a Mario game also have the walk around planets mechanic? I loved it! Great submission!!

pixamentory 2019-10-13 09:15

"Impressive game, Very cool concepts. I left wishing that there is more. Had a lot of fun "

goupixm 2019-10-13 14:30

This is the first 3D game with a camera that works well that I see, which was done by one person! Very good job because it is successful and I have no problem with the camera ! The graphics are appreciable

blk-dragon 2019-10-13 15:14

@croewens Most probably Ratchet&Clank (haven't played Mario) -- to be honest I just wanted to do that kind of stuff :)

dodelov 2019-10-13 18:00

To be honest, I really liked the game, but I could not get to the end because of bugs, which upset me. Once I half fell into the texture, the second time into the gap between the sides, the third time I got into the rock and could not get out. I collected all the PODs, but not the keys. If you fix bugs and and post a fixed version somewhere here, I will be very happy. I liked the music, as well as the atmosphere in general, thanks)

blk-dragon 2019-10-13 18:28

@dodelov Thanks! The character movement/collision is much harder that I was expecting, also level (collision) geometry is way too 'chaotic' so yeah, those collision issues often prevent player from completing the level. I'm going to look into it later this week (since I'm going to re-use this code anyway).

pixamentory 2019-10-14 16:54

“Impressive game, Very cool concepts. I left wishing that there is more. Had a lot of fun “

wheybags 2019-10-14 18:36

Game looks interesting, but the movement gave me motion sickness so I couldn't finish it :( An option for windowed with a small window would help a lot for this.

nsadie 2019-10-14 19:56

Not bad. Walking sound could have sounded more spacey. The green crystal did not explode when shooting it with the green colour. Only worked when using all colours.

shubart 2019-10-14 20:39

Nice ideas inside. The colours mixing is one of them. The mood and the music are quite nice. You could improve this with better collisions. Sometimes i could just jump around the obstacles. Thank you for your game

blk-dragon 2019-10-16 10:00

@nsadie I think it's double-bug :) First, crystal (most probably) was teal, not green. Second, white color can destroy anything (maybe it should be a feature)

bassguitarbill 2019-10-17 22:57

I like the ideas in this one! A small suggestion: if the player hits "Restart", allow them to keep their pods and keys, because sometimes they are stuck in a rock with one more thing to collect before they win!

nisovin 2019-10-18 01:21

I loved the look and gravity mechanic of this game. Music is nice too. Unfortunately I got stuck multiple times so I never was able to get very far.

blk-dragon 2019-10-18 20:21

@nisovin @bassguitarbill @dodelov @ryano You might want to try updated version ("post-jam" one) with improved player movement/collision -- now you have far better chances to get to the end :)

blk-dragon 2019-10-19 05:06

@daitse Now it has a 'real ending' :) (post-jam version)

sprotex 2019-10-19 19:03

This thing is great! Sure, the controls aren't as smooth as they could be, but in a LDJAM submission people can be forgiving (including me ). I think maybe you've stretched your goals far, but you've managed to get them working, almost with no bugs, which is highly commendable in my opinion.

The sound was fitting and didn't intrude at all.

The models were higher quality than I would expect.

The gameplay was good, movement could use an upgrade (I haven't played the post-jam version), but was very enjoyable to play with.

I've been able to make some jumps that I believe were unintended for me to make, but I still needed to collect everything to get to the end, so no worries about that. Maybe the player could get confused, since you don't have to destroy the colorful rocks from the beginning, but it didn't confuse me, so I don't care.

And also it's 3D!

Very well made sir.

blk-dragon 2019-10-19 19:51

@sprotex Thanks! Post-jam version has many movement/collision issues resolved, so it should feel much better. Collision handling in such chaotic 3D-environment (where you can change 'up' direction) is much harder that I initially thought :)

sprotex 2019-10-19 20:15

@blk-dragon I believe you. Up is wherever the player wants it to be.

Even if the idea was hard and troublesome to implement, I like your ambition and ideas. I'm looking forward to playing your next games.

itsdanidre 2019-10-20 01:11

That gravity switch is amazing I must say. Overtime I had to give up on the game because it because nausiating for me. However, the music is calm, the graphics are nice :lenny:

blk-dragon 2019-10-20 04:40

@itsdanidre Thanks! I'm just curious, is it nausiating when you go over cube-edge (when gravity vector changed a lot, fast) ?

itsdanidre 2019-10-20 05:00

@blk-dragon mostly the wall glitches. Although minimal. 3D games in general give me nausea. But they're funnn!

alphish 2019-10-21 20:48

I sympathise with the main character who has to run and jump through all that uneven terrain in heels.

I played the Jam version. On my first playthrough, I passed through the wall into the inside of a mountain and couldn't leave. On my second playthrough I got stuck between the crystals for a change - that's also when I found out I can actually shoot stuff (but I didn't have the red necessary for breaking the crystals, anyway). On third playthrough, I figured out that I'm actually supposed to destroy crystals by shooting properly coloured stuff at them, rather than avoid them by some imprecise collision trickery. After a few minutes of items collecting and precision platforming I reached the exit platform and got the congratulatory message.

I tried the post-Jam version, and it largely improved the most jarring problem, i.e. the collisions. Also, adding the target mark on collecting first shooty pod makes things more intuitive, and there's a proper ending now. So props for that.

The graphics work well enough for the game, and the music gives this nice ethereal feeling to this odd world. The UI was also clean and readable, though I'd have also liked some more explanation, especially about the pod-shooting controls (I mean, I did discover it pretty randomly). The theme is technically there, but it doesn't feel like going from near-zero to 100%; more like going from about 50% mark... (all the platforming abilities are already there, the only difference is getting tools to smash the crystals and collecting all key characters).

Overall, a pretty if clunky platformer when it comes to the Jam entry; the post-Jam version does add some useful polish on top of that.

blk-dragon 2019-10-23 05:42

@alphish Thanks for your extensive feedback! Starting from "true zero" would be kinda tedious I thought (like you have to find jump ability etc). Also I was fixated on gravity-changing idea :)

nitroglycerine 2019-10-23 11:36

Cool idea!

brokenmirrormedia 2019-10-23 21:18

This is an interesting game, the movement between the sides of the cube is great, reminds me of Super Mario Galaxy. I did get stuck when moving around one of the corners though, and had to restart the game to get out. Also when I alt-tabbed away from the game it still locked my cursor, but that might be a problem with the engine you used, idk. I wasn't able to fully test out the mechanics, as I'm playing on a laptop, so no middle click or simultaneous clicks :( but I did explore a bit to get a feel for the game. Nice work!

narudgi 2019-10-28 20:48

Love the concept, color mixing was complicated for my dumb brain, so I struggled at first. Not a fan of the graph, but it's alright since you didn't have someone for it

The music was neat and its changes fitted the mood

(edit : I was able to cheat my way in the plateforms haha)

GG !
