LD45 — Start with nothing

Soundmarine by Dustyroom 2019-10-08T15:28:17Z

Very lovely little experience. The art looks great, along with the sound design. Feels very polished. Just a quick note, if you press space-bar on the windows build the ship disappears. Then I pressed is several more times, and could no longer control the camera and then it started to go faster... so not sure what is going on. Used for testing, and left it in by mistake?

Star Smasher by kakarotsan 2019-10-08T03:55:15Z

I like how you guys implemented the planet smashing, how you can change the radius of the orbit, and you have elliptical orbits. I did find it hard to see what was going on, and where I needed to move to, to get the next object. So being able to zoom in and out would a nice improvement I think. Overall, pretty good!

Baby steps by freso 2019-10-08T19:00:53Z

Nice little game, decent audio, I like the art style. I wish there was a little more interaction from the player. Like having to press Enter to do an action, instead of it just happening automatically. But otherwise, pretty nice.

Vault 7 by Luk3 2019-10-08T21:31:12Z

Pretty short, I think the sound was pretty good. I would edit the description here to say what the controls are. specifically, the space bar to interact. Increasing the contrast between the walls, floor, and background would be nice too, as it is sort of hard to see the walls right now. I can see if you guys had more time you could have added more rooms, which I think would have been pretty cool. But I can get the feel you where going for. Nice job!

Nothing to Lose 🌍💥☄️👽 by Lawrence 2019-10-09T04:37:31Z

I really enjoyed it. The movement and shoot felt really nice. Great job!

A Developer's Adventure by Jonas Michael 2019-10-08T19:36:53Z

I like the addition of Skill, and it isn't bad for a clicker game. I feel like there was a lack of information given to me though. It wasn't clear to me at least what the % number was on each of the actions you could do. Was it the chance that it would succeed? It also seemed that you need to right click on the new tasks to buy them. I am not sure how, but I managed to break it, I bought the 3 and then the 4th and 5 task types. And cot the % to be -Infinity... so... you may be missing a validation check somewhere?

I feel like it is a good twist on the clicker genre, just needs a bit more polish. :)

Bandit Crossing by Magnega 2019-10-08T19:49:16Z

Pretty fun game. I like the trains giving the blueprints. And how you had to build stuff. It would be nice I think if you couldn't hurt your own structures. Because I found I missed a lot, and would hit them. But good job guys!

"Start with nothing" by Beetrootmonkey 2019-10-09T04:28:08Z

This is actually a pretty fun little game. It was actually pretty hard, more so than I was expecting, but fun! Great job!

King of the Goo by BenPeterson 2019-10-08T02:40:38Z

I like the idea of extracting DNA and using it for yourself. It isn't super clear to me how the text on the left correlates to the DNA, and what the falling DNA is. I would say for the audio that it has a lot of echo in it, which takes me out of the game a bit because everything else feels like it would be 'deep'. I would also say increasing the contrast between the entities and the background.

Cubies by Stromberg 2019-10-08T21:38:27Z

I am glad you were able to at least participate. I think you could actually make a pretty fun puzzle game with this idea. It is sort of fun to set up a leaver, and then drop a heavy thing on the end of it and watch it fly through the air. Hope you can do more next time! :)

Dead End Job by Chaosicx 2019-10-08T04:54:43Z

I think having some number to show how much money you made per tick would be nice way to see progression. Also having upgrades for the mouse would be nice, otherwise you *just* sit there and wait. I do feel like the balance was pretty good though!

Basil by Abdul Zakkar 2019-10-08T05:25:24Z

Feels pretty nice and polished. I would say the pacing was pretty good for the first 8-ish minutes. But then it started to drag a bit. Like others have said, adding more. But a simpler solution could be to just increase the rate at which the stats decay overtime. Overall, a pretty solid game.

Find Your Everything by Freixo 2019-10-08T19:13:44Z

It wasn't supper clear to me what it meant when my guy changed color, or why they would follow me around. Maybe I was just missing something. but a bit more info, and some more clear visual queues and feedback would go a long way I think. I like the idea though, very creative.

Nothing left for Jim! by GreenDinoGames 2019-10-08T21:49:44Z

I like that you need to press different buttons for different items. Makes it so you have to think a bit. I found it very hard to control though. I think locking the rotation of the player could help. I would also say having cheer sound vary a bit, as it got grating pretty quickly. There is quite a bit there for so little time.

bloc bloc by armabon 2019-10-09T05:05:03Z

This feels pretty polished, an rather fun. Great job! I like how the different bocs had different properties. It wasn't clear to me that you need to hit space while the boc is inside of the end thing for it to take affect. So I would maybe add that some where. Otherwise, pretty solid game, great job!

Cavern Train Heist by microgravitydan 2019-10-08T22:19:55Z

Besides the sensitivity being too high, I liked the look of the game. I wish there was a bit more of an end goal, or reason to collect the barrels. But otherwise, I like it!

View My Dungeon by GamErPlayer 2019-10-09T04:48:12Z

This is a cool idea! I like it! I did find it hard to understand exactly what was going on. Though I did kinda get it. Adding a bit more info to the description on this page would help a bit I think, explain what is going on, and more how it works. Because you can't really see anything, so it is hard to know what is doing what. :)

Nothing For Heaven by Xotsu 2019-10-08T14:47:23Z

I think your world has a great mood, and aesthetic. I get the whole over ambition thing, did that a bit my self. The player movement feels sort of clunky, but it is a gamejam so I get it.

It wasn't super clear to me at first, that the statues give -1 nothingness, and killing the creatures give +1. Part of that is there was no visual or audio feedback, so when I would look up at the text at different times it would read differently, and I wasn't sure why. Maybe renaming it to "Lost souls", or something like that would have made it a bit more clear what was happening with out much extra work.

The other thing is that once I got up in to the cloud section, it was harder to tell where to go. Over all, it is pretty good. I like the idea of having to be careful not to kill too many creatures, and if you do then you need to find another one of the statues. Cool game overall! Good job.

The Ninja Chronicles by SaltFactory Studio 2019-10-08T20:05:05Z

It is a pretty fun game, but really hard. I found that I died most to not being able to tell where I was exactly. I found the upgrading nice, but hard to use because I need to move my hand from J, over to the mouse to select the upgrade I wanted. Also, when you jump it just auto selects one for you.

Collector by MechWarrior99 2019-10-08T21:59:12Z

@saltfactory-studio Thank you so much! Yeah, they do spawn pretty quick. I think if I turned them down just a tiny bit, it would feel a lot better. I was thinking of adding a chase radius, but didn't have time. The UI work was definitely rushed last minute, I would have liked to make it at least a bit better. But I guess that is how it goes sometimes. Thanks again!

Collector by MechWarrior99 2019-10-09T02:19:13Z

(@zgragselus Thank you! With regards to the crowding. That was the intention, to force you to go back to the portal. The main thing is that I didn't put an incentive to stay longer to collect more items, I think some small multiplier on how much you get per item would have been good the longer you stay. It gets to a max of 125 blobs. Yeah, that is something quite a few others have said as well. That you can just go back and forth really quick to get the 2000, would have been good to maybe disable the portal for a short period after using it or something.

Thanks for the feedback, and I am glad you liked it!

Murder On Peacock Street by Seabird 2019-10-08T22:58:12Z

Fun game and has great atmosphere. There are definitely some bugs to be worked out, text being hidden or hard to see, characters talking about things that I didn't learn about yet, or things that already happened. The amount and quality of the art that you got done is impressive! and it really does look great! I found it hard to find the proper doors as well sometimes, and to tell what an and cannot be interacted with.

Overall a great Ludum Dare entry, and something you should be proud of!

Candy Bravery by Samuel Gendron 2019-10-16T14:10:07Z

I think the idea is pretty decent. I could just be being dumb, but I was unable to find a second house I could go to after the first one. Also, the houses didn't seem to have any visual indicator if I could go to them or not.

Succulentia by kenster 2019-10-16T13:39:37Z

Nice little game. As others have said, the difficulty ramp seems too slow. Personally, I would have liked some indicators as to when the next plant will spawn, how long until my water was refilled, etc. Also, some more variation in the insects behavior would have been nice. Overall, pretty good though!

Caravan Wars by LeGoLaZ 2019-10-08T21:18:27Z

Like others have said, it has nice art. It was pretty fun, idk about having points and money be different. It felt a little confusing and unneeded sense you get both money and points for setting caravans. Maybe having to choose if the caravan gets points, or to get money? Also a cool down for when I can spawn another unit/caravan would be nice.
