LD46 — Keep it alive

Efi by ludipe 2020-04-22T14:12:48Z

This game is great to play but also very difficult very fast. Overall the graphics and audio complement the experience very well and the mood is there. Very well polished and executed.

Thanks for the game!

Eater of Worlds by Havok06 2020-04-21T15:08:53Z

Thanks a lot for the feedback people.

There is an issue with qwerty keyboard, since I developed on azerty. My mistake.

I struggled a lot with making the isometric view work. I would have manage to reach a much higher level of polish if I had made an easier style. I would love to explore that twist on tower defense (based on resource collection and management) a bit further.

Eater of Worlds by Havok06 2020-04-25T07:42:19Z

The control issues with ZQSD were coming from keyboard settings (AZERTY vs QWERTY) which is a polishing thing I did not plan for. My mistake. I should have highlighted that you also could move the camera by holding the middle mouse button and moving the mouse.

For the creation of units, I was planning that new units would be created at different waves, to allow the player to manage resource gathering on different sides of the map because it was getting bigger and bigger. Sadly I did not manage to make it work before the end so I took it out. For the tutorials I really forgot to add controls instructions. To make the game easier and more fair, I should have made the energy be consumed only when the turrets are engaging enemies instead of when they're turned on.

Anyway, thank you very much for that feedback, it feels good to hear the graphics and audio felt good. I would have liked to add more variations in the tiles and the enemies.

LD Jam 46 Keep It Alive by brandann 2020-04-22T14:06:36Z

I like the overall graphics. The gameplay is not in any way original but plays well. The game lacks some feedback to reward the player and overall lacks polish (sounds, animation etc.).

Thanks for the game!

Keep the Fire by PerpetuumMobile 2020-04-23T04:54:56Z

Art and audio were good. In terms of gameplay, it felt a little frustrating to have the character so close to the camera. I was not able to see all the places where I could go and after some time the light decreased and I was completely lost.

Helium by joekinglake 2020-04-21T08:15:42Z

I really liked the graphics. They fit their purpose, everything is easily readable.

The controls are straight forward but I had an issues with the keys. On my AZERTY keyboard, Z is far from X so it was a bit hard to use both, but that's a detail on such a short period of dev.

The game might have been more enjoyable if just reaching the balloon was enough to catch it (instead of hitting a key). The challenge for me was more to find the right way to reach it and do it in time, rather than hit this key at the right time.

Anyway, great achievement!

Keep Him Alive by Lamossus 2020-04-23T13:34:10Z

The game is looking and feeling very good. The atmosphere is good and it feels well polished.

𝘋𝘜𝘕𝘌𝘞𝘙𝘖𝘜𝘎𝘏𝘛 by corc0 2020-04-23T13:52:08Z

Interesting style but I did not understand any of the gameplay apart from die and retry to get the correct pattern. The player controller was very slow and hard to control, I think a simple translation would have been enough for a game like this.

Thanks for the game!

HEART LORDS by Spooky 2020-04-21T12:17:12Z

I really liked graphics and audio. The atsmosphere of the game was, I think, spot on.

I did not enjoy on the other hand the combat that felt slow and grindy. To kill an enemy took way too many hits and felt like a chore. Since the combat is at the center of the game, I think this is really too bad.

Wonder by Ian Kettlewell 2020-04-22T14:02:48Z

This game felt very relaxing even if someimes too easy or too hard. I especially had an issue with the first panel where I struggled to aim at the points, then the next few panels were very easy in comparison. Now I realize that the first panel was beatable without drawing anything and I feel stupid. I think I was influenced by the fact the writing is trying to teach me to draw so I was compelled to even if I didn't need it.

Thanks for the game!

Keep Her Light by arche-san 2020-04-21T12:51:19Z

Very nice game but I did not really get into the gameplay. The graphics are impressive and the music really sets the atmosphere.

Keep What Alive by Valeth2124 2020-04-23T05:11:07Z

The game felt quite polished. I did not always understand what I was supposed to do, but I imagine this was to encourage exploration.

Thanks for the game.

Defend Pangolin Eggs by MightyCode 2020-04-23T13:42:40Z

The game is very well polished and plays perfectly. Very nice job on making a well functionning tower defense!

AmbiSphere by X-c 2020-04-23T13:56:31Z

Interesting concept, I had a lot of trouble understanding that I was supposed to play the 2 orbs. It's really hard to coordinate but that's the point.

Thank you for the game.

The Last Raccoon by IceBox246 2020-04-22T11:43:18Z

This is a very well executed tower defense game. The graphics and music are really well polished, good job on that!

I had one issue once I reached the montains, the 32$ towers were really badly balanced because I only managed to buy one. It was too expensive compared to the money I was able to get.

The Tree by Vadzim 2020-04-21T12:26:45Z

This was a very relaxing experience ... until it got very fast :)

Very nice little game, cool and simple aesthetics, nice relaxing audio, and that rewarding finish. thank you for this gme.

The Cave by Gonzako 2020-04-22T11:28:01Z

The mood and atmosphere is there but I feel like you ran out of time to add gameplay to it.

Dead Spirit by Snowirbis 2020-04-23T13:55:32Z

The art is amazing but I did not go far into the game because I kept dying.

I think the range on that attack is way too small and it's really hard to get close to those enemies without dying (in just 2 hits). And when you die the starting dialog is playing again and it's frustrating to have to go through it.

Anyway, nice game and thank you for it.

Keep Him Alive by Bulent Altinay 2020-04-23T04:51:21Z

I had a lot of trouble with controls. Hitting left and right seemed to turn the character, but the direction of turning seemed to be random. I did not manage to do all levels because of this.

Project Kepler by LucaVazz 2020-04-21T12:12:39Z

I tried paying it and felt like I was really driving a ship with no experience. So many buttons and I have no idea what they're doing!

Overheat by SlimmerBurger 2020-04-21T12:55:48Z

Fun and polished game. I have no complain about it, everything works and the game is very fun. The sounds are very engaging and the game feels good.

Pitcher and the Whale by sjandybae 2020-04-23T05:09:09Z

this is very well exectued. Everything works perfectly and is understandable immediately. I had a great time playing the game.

The graphics and music complement themselves well, the mood and atmosphere are there. Great job!

Thanks for the game.

Rolling Chicken TD by RodPraet 2020-04-22T11:25:29Z

The game is a traditionnal tower defense. Great job on the execution on it, it plays well and no issues.

The music was very annoying but good to you that you added a mute button. What the game lacked (and that could have replaced the music) is other sounds (attack, building etc.)

The graphics were okay and played their roles.

Great job on making a game ;)

HOME by dconn537 2020-04-21T12:27:55Z

The game feels very good but I had a lot of trouble with ammo management and killing the enemies took too many hits. With the latency between the fire and the hit, it was hard judging how many bullets i should shoot and still save enough for later.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

World in Peril by Havok06 2021-04-26T11:26:59Z

Thank you @uzpykes!

Did you manage to beat it ?

It was intended indeed, the shuffle of cards is entirely random and i think the game could be improved with some base rules setup for the randomness. This could be a solution to limit this kind of case.

I also had the idea of letting the player choose which events he wants applied.

World in Peril by Havok06 2021-04-27T09:23:21Z

Thank you @DancesWE for playing it. I'm glad that you enjoyed the learning curve, this was one of my goals. By playing myself and looking at other people playing, I realized there are some goals that are way harder than the others. This obviously needs a huge balancing pass, otherwise it is a bit frustrating.

World in Peril by Havok06 2021-04-27T09:25:03Z

@VeryGenuineCraze Thank you ! Your enthusiasm feels really good.

I totally agree that the gameplay is there, I would just need to balance some things for it to be really good.

Sound is definitely not my strong point for sure, especially on short notice. I have no idea how to make music.

World in Peril by Havok06 2021-04-27T09:29:24Z

@Rose thank you for the kind words.

I had an idea to make science more appealing but did not have time to implement it.

What is not clear when you play the game is that I have a list of 68 card, and 9 are taken out at ransom at the start of the game. I had the idea that taking science cards could bring them back and give the player the option of building them immediately. Instead I made just two science cards that give a small advantage (seeing the type of cards that are under the stacks in advance). I had also the idea of one card that would add a third stack of cards to choose from.

Science could have been so interesting

World in Peril by Havok06 2021-04-29T19:53:40Z

@adonisdevs I totally agree with your feedback. I had plans for the science cards that I couldn't implement in time. What I could have done for the cards is to make them larger when hovering on them. Thanks for the feedback.

World in Peril by Havok06 2021-04-29T20:11:53Z

@antonishig Well player ! I think economical might be the hardest one with all the event discarding economic cards. Thank you for the feedback.

World in Peril by Havok06 2021-04-30T08:22:45Z

@mighty-mufflon-games Yes I noticed this when I played it after publication. I had programmed a losing state when that happened but it doesn't seem to work. Thanks for the feedback !

Mine Cards by Rose 2021-04-29T17:59:49Z

Very interesting game. I had fun playing it and getting to the end. The last step was going very fast and it was very satisfying to see the level counter go up and up. Also the production of the game is very nice, everything works properly and the graphics are cute.

Line by morrilet 2021-04-29T19:03:02Z

The game is interesting and reminded me of an old project that I never finished. This graphics and sfx are really good. The only issue I have is with the controls that feel a little clunky and with too much inertia. Good job !

Treasures Of The Depths by Uzpykes 2021-04-29T18:26:01Z

The game is really well made and it is fun to dig and look for the diamonds. The graphics are simple and well made and fit their purposes. The sound is clean. On little point about the UI where we don't necessarily know what icons are. Thank you for the game !

Billy's Gone Again by KingOfNova 2021-04-30T17:00:35Z

Very strong gameplay. I particularly like the way the camera was working, it did not feel too static and was following the player very well. The different weapons were interesting. The sound design is very well done and the visuals are good. Thank you for the game.

Grabble Story by Mahjoub 2021-04-30T16:03:30Z

The game is very complete and polished. Graphics and sound work well and the gameplay is responsive. The mechanics ideas are interesting aswell. Thank you for the game!

Into Debt by darqweful 2021-04-29T18:58:13Z

Interesting game. It was fun to navigate in the UI without much instructions and experiment with everything. The UI is so clean and responsive that it was really satisfying. One thing that was a little bothering was the speed of the text. Other than that, great game !

Decisive Maneuver by bernard-bumblebutt 2021-04-29T19:22:04Z

This game is incredible. The gameplay concept is very well thought out and executed. The controls are clear, simple and feel very good to use. The tutorial is very well implemented aswell. The graphics and audio ambiance are both well supporting the gameplay. Very good job and great game !

Trapdoor in the Garden by InitialPosition 2021-04-30T16:48:40Z

Graphics, music and sfx are all well polished and make the game feel good. On the other hand I felt that the hitboxes and enemy movement were a bit unjust to the player. I lost a few times because they jumped at me and I couldn't react. Great game though.

1000 Fathoms by Dom De Re 2021-04-29T19:10:22Z

Pretty efficient game. The graphics and sfx are really good and fit well with the game. It's an interesting choice to make a multiplayer game for the jam, well player !

Dropdown by Alexio Games 2021-04-29T19:25:07Z

Well made game. It is very simple yet perfectly executed and feels very satisfying to play. One small complaint, the mouse icon is useless and could be removed. Great game !

Pix'in' by DancesWE 2021-04-29T18:17:11Z

It's really innovative and feels a little trippy in its aesthetics. Overall I had fun playing the game and the concept is interesting.

Phantas-matcha by CharlineF 2021-04-29T19:16:36Z

The visuals are really great, I am impressed for a jam.

Deep Sleep - The Sandman by VeryGenuineCraze 2021-04-29T18:11:38Z

The game is quite fun and plays very well. Kudos for the nice mouth sound design :D

One More Cellar by Magna 2021-04-29T18:38:59Z

Well made roguelike that made me think of Binding of Isaac. It played really well and the sounds and music were really good. Great game !
