Now that's just adorable

beatiful

beautiful game! If you could add something it would be controls for WASD. I prefer it over the left/up etc keys. I also really like that the water gets lower if you get water from it.

the-martijn 2020-04-22 09:50

Wow, that was a fun game! I like the way how the bucket works and how you loose water when you walk too fast or drop your bucket. The platform-engine worked very well/smooth and I didn't encounter any bugs. It looked beautiful! Well done ;)

gao-ming 2020-04-22 09:52

Good!

red-ash 2020-04-22 10:00

I love the intro! Its so cute i just want to hug the fox! Art is very nice and the platform engine is very fun to play!

eduardogacn 2020-04-23 05:01

Good

Adorable game with beautiful graphics. The intro was great! The controls were tight which made it a lot more enjoyable to go around and explore.

havok06 2020-04-23 05:09

this is very well exectued. Everything works perfectly and is understandable immediately. I had a great time playing the game.

The graphics and music complement themselves well, the mood and atmosphere are there. Great job!

Thanks for the game.

I like the designs of the characters, they look cute.

canti 2020-04-23 06:35

This is so CUTE! Love the art style style and the graphics, especially the squishy feedback. Smart design on the control of the player with the spilling water from the bucket and the crouching. The physics were a bit wonky sometimes but given the time restriction its fine and it didn't really disturb the gameplay.

I was however starting to wonder if there was an end goal of the game when suddenly it just ended out of nowhere. Would be nice to have some sort of indicator like maybe a sun in the background to tell how long time it's left of the day?

Overall, had a good time playing this! Good job! :3c

thedoctoroftime 2020-04-23 07:09

The art is so cute a a a a a a a! The controls are intuitive and are solid imo, and I think it just feels great!

notan-lemon 2020-04-23 08:02

This is great! The art is so cute and I love it so much! Also it is a clever idea that you have to throw the bucket to go through obstacles in cost of some water. I think you can make a really fun game if you polish this.

Btw I got stuck here once when I threw the bucket to the other side where I need to break a rock to reach. Pitcher and the Whale.png

Possibly the cutest game I've played during the jam. Art is great! Sound and music is great! I would have preferred a different control scheme, but that's just me.

monblu 2020-04-24 05:26

Cute game! Quite complete for a game jam game, i like the way the physics works! Nice graphics and music!

dummydojo 2020-04-24 05:42

Cute game, but the gameplay needs some work. Solid basis for a full game though once you do work out the details.

emperor-eagle 2020-04-24 06:03

Very cute graphics and animation! The gameplay was fun but it was a bit annoying with the controls, but still fun! The idea of keeping the whale alive is really good. Maybe improve the explanation surrounding how the water falls out of the bucket because it took a while to get the hang of that. I'm also happy to see another Gamemaker game (very good engine). Really great job!

robokarla 2020-04-24 07:15

Oh no, this is so cute! I love the graphics, big cute energy. Would love to get it on steam!

lapisraider 2020-04-24 08:05

The graphics and animation of this game is adorable and beautiful! I really love the art style, and the sound effects and music fits it so well. The game feels really polished and I like how the bucket can sometimes tilt. The concept is pretty unique and I greatly enjoyed playing the game!

This game is definitely one of the best I played so far!

durrani19 2020-04-24 16:30

Thank you so much for playing our game and leaving constructive feedback, we're working towards a steam release that'll resolve all the issues that we couldn't address within 72 hours. Plus it'll have even more content to make it a solid experience and hopefully the steam release will be out before Ludum Dare ends.

Remarkably well-polished for a Jam game! The platforming felt good and there were a ton of little touches to make the game feel better. I would recommend some way of retrieving the bucket if it gets lost; usually you can go find it, but occasionally you can throw it somewhere you can't get to (someone up above commented with a picture) or you can accidentally throw it under a spider and just not be able to get it out: BucketPlz.png

I also found myself wishing there was a way to deal with enemies more permanently. It felt fair that since you couldn't really die, the enemies shouldn't be able to, but in certain cases (see aforementioned bucket trap) I really would have preferred a traditional health bar and bucket-based murder.

Definitely one of the best games I've seen this jam! Great job!

It's absolutely beautiful! A very pleasing experience, thank you for this game!

remco 2020-04-25 23:29

This was so much fun! The little fox character is so cute! It seemed a bit hard at first, but I got some confidence after the first day ended (which happened very abruptly).

I love how restructuring the game completely around the needs of the whale, water, & the bucket changes a lot of the normal platforming conventions. (Caring about someone else sure changes things, doesn't it?) Like that the character, and the opponents, are just straight up invulnerable.

syrapt0r 2020-05-05 23:35

Damn this was fantastic! Really nice game concept, very intuitive mechanics, the art is fantastic, the music is fitting. I would like some more feedback on successfully watering the whale though, the first few times I was unsure whether the water actually did anything. Maybe make the player press a button to use the water. Other than that, awesome job :D

slotha 2020-05-06 02:21

Awesome Game! I love the art and all the area's you managed to include! The controls felt a little slow, but that's all the complaints I had! I loved the music too! Great work!

It's nice to see someone else use Gamemaker as well!

angelo-saez 2020-05-06 03:32

Really nice art and I appreciated the bucket mechanic because it added a lot of tension when the whale was starting to heat up

ddrkirbyisq 2020-05-06 06:43

Ahh whale is too cute! >w<;

One complaint, I'm a dinosaur running on an old 1280x1024 monitor here and whatever GMS is doing for resolutions doesn't play too nicely -- it tries to make the window size match the aspect ratio of my monitor, which ends up clipping off the left and right sides of the game. Changing my desktop resloution to 1280x720 sort of works, though at that point the game barely fits in the screen. Resizing the game window manually works of course, but results in pixel artifacts...

Whao ! This game is awesome ! I love your art style and the concept is very cool. Now we know where the H2G2 whale landed. xD The physic of the bucket is fun but a little weird. It bounce a lot. xD Well done !
