Hello! Thank you in advance for playing my entry, would love to read your thoughts about it :)

thecommonthug 2021-04-26 04:57

Very fun. I love well made powerup games. I would have liked it to have picked up the pace as I went along for more taxing gameplay. Very nice work!

thatmanrobin 2021-04-26 05:00

Overall fun game, liked the concept and also the graphics were pretty nice. It's like extreme claw machine!

styps 2021-04-26 05:05

Looks great. Everything has a purpose and doesn't feel like there is any wasted space on the screen. I think everything is very well put together, and after the first trek down everything was easy to understand. My only comments I guess would be that the store was a little hard to notice at first. It wasn't until I couldn't get down any further that I looked around for other options and found it. Also, the sound of the crane pulling back up got a little tiresome when pulling up from really far down. But I think the game was great and it was fun to play through the whole thing too. You really had me hooked wanting to get all the way down to the furthest point. Great game!

mahjoub 2021-04-26 05:09

Really grateful to read this, thank you for playing and for sharing!

Yeah, I tried to put a .gif on the itch.io page as an indication for the shop but I agree on this that it could be easy to miss

nisovin 2021-04-26 05:13

Great game! Plays well, and looks good! Reminds me of some fishing games, except with a claw instead.

welby 2021-04-26 05:22

This game is amazing! It has that perfect loop of dodging on the way down for better rewards, but higher risk because there's more to dodge on the way up. And this is legitimately the best music and sound I've heard the entire game jam. Really good submission for LD48.

quill18 2021-04-26 05:49

Really enjoyed this. Nice classic arcade game feel.

bw-devel 2021-04-26 19:41

Things I liked: - really well put together game; polished and complete - fun game loop - music and sound - upgrade shop - the 'best run' marker on the way down kept me engaged to keep going deeper

Improvements: - create an end-game system - for certain items, like the secret item, maybe have the bombs move on the way back up for more difficulty

Bugs: - I grabbed the secret reward in two different runs but that didn't seem to change anything in the game nor trigger any 'you win' state.

A very well made and fun little game. I love the music and the visuals. The the crane arm moved a bit slowly down, but okay it's not a big issue. Overall a very well made compo game. Well done.

mahjoub 2021-04-27 10:27

Thank you @jk5000 for your comment, yes I was thinking to double the speed on the way back if the player does have any collectibles, but... not enough time haha

bubakgames 2021-04-27 11:20

Fun game. I like the grahics.

xtacobaco 2021-04-27 21:02

Wow good job, really impressed with how many upgrades you managed to squeze into the game in such a short amount of time! I really liked the art style and you did really good on the theme. Great entry! :D

pijamar 2021-04-27 21:19

This game is absurdly good and polished! I played all the way to the end, unlocked everything. The only criticism I have is that there could either be instructions somewhere (I struggled a bit to realize what the bombs were doing, for instance), or the action could offer clearer player feedback. Or maybe I'm just old and slow

I also agree with what you discussed with @jk5000, the crane could move faster if it isn't holding any treasures. But these are minor issues, your work is overall flawless. I love the art, story and theme. It's so fun, light and charming! I'm amazed by how many sub-games there are in such a simple, elegant mechanic. Congratulations! Please keep working on it.

strangeryann 2021-04-28 14:39

Very cool! Did you do a mobile buid - like android? What you got there is nothing less than a working proof of concept for a mobile game. Enjoyed it a lot :)

On the critical side - I think your coin multiplier is broken - also I brought back the roll at 100m to the surfica - alone as well as with 1 of each fruits, and I didn't unlock an ending - did I do something wrong or is it just not implemented yet :-P

Very nice game - all on your own, in 48h, really impressive - great work, mate :-D

So I really like your game and I'm streaming Ludum Dare 48 games on saturday with my friend Teauorent on his Twitch channel - https://www.twitch.tv/teauorent - Saturday May 1st 4PM CET First of all - that cool with you? Have a great day, I hope to hear from you soon - thanks for that great moment I spent testing your little nugget of a game, and see you in the chat on saturday I hope

mahjoub 2021-04-29 11:47

@pijamar thank you for your comment, yes it is a great idea to add more feedback on interactions, also maybe having the cost data of each collectible as well. Keeping this in mind for a potential future update!

Thanks mate @strangeryann for your comment, really appreciated! Yes, there is no ending in fact for now, should be more explicit I suppose haha (another thing to keep in mind :v:)

Sure, would be happy to be part of this streaming event, however as I know that we have time difference I could not guarantee my presence. See you soon!

nuelijarma 2021-04-29 16:59

That was a fun game! The scope is well contained, the visuals are nice (I like the floating particles, they break the monotony nicely), the audio is good (I don't like the grapple movement sound, the rest and the music are very nice). Great entry, good game :D

phlip45 2021-04-29 22:48

Everything is really nice! My only complaint is the crane movement sound, but that is something that can be fixed easily with just an option to mute SFX or a different sound for it. Everything else is great. Played all the way to the end. I especially like the extra effort put into the idle chatter that happens when you return to the top. That did not need to be in there but adds a great deal of character and polish to this. Amazing job!

havok06 2021-04-30 16:03

The game is very complete and polished. Graphics and sound work well and the gameplay is responsive. The mechanics ideas are interesting aswell. Thank you for the game!

mahjoub 2021-04-30 23:55

Thank you @nuelijarma @phlip45 @havok06 for your feedback, it is really appreciated!

lucavazz 2021-05-01 14:12

Very cool take on the theme, cute graphics and catchy sound.

Unfortunately I couldn't quite grasp what the yellow line that appears is about. Apparently it doesn't move further down after grabbing a blue star... Is that intentional?

iaandrei 2021-05-01 14:48

Quite a polished title and the music is nice. Great work!

mahjoub 2021-05-02 00:44

Thank you for your review @lucavazz & @iaandrei, really nice of you!

Yes, the yellow line is an indication of your current maximum depth, which could be improved by going to the shop and buying a rope extension. The shop is one of the buttons on the left, for sure it should be more intuitive!

lucavazz 2021-05-02 09:39

Thanks for the reply @mahjoub. Indeed I completely overlooked the shop 😅 Maybe a more "in your face" hint about it would help.

choppers 2021-05-04 07:41

It felt really polished, the controls made you feel masterful. The graphics and audio were great too. Overall great entry.

candlesan 2021-05-15 06:36

I loved it! This game is brilliant and the best compo entry I've played so far. So many things that I think are well done - Soundtrack, simple but effective. - Pixel Art, again, simple and effective, just right for scoping a game jam - Shop and upgrades, compelling and intuitive - Core gameplay, engaging as a simple mechanic while still keeping me engaged and entertained the entire time - Progression and well tied into the theme

Just so well done, love how well polished and tight the entire experience was. Good job taking a core mechanic and really making a well rounded game aroound it.

kooky 2021-05-18 18:46

I love the aesthetic, the excellent music (yay, Bosca Ceoil!), the sound effects, and the motivational comments in between attempts.

I didn't notice the shop until I saw it mentioned in other comments, but started making more progress once I discovered it!

Very nice upgrade system! It makes the game more satisfying to make progress in.

I also really like the risk-reward system where you can leave an object in order to let yourself progress deeper, but it serves as a hazard on your return journey.

Very nice entry, well done!
