I liked the retro aesthetic, but the gameplay felt awkward and uninteresting and without a map I couldn't tell where I was or where I was supposed to be going.

@hilda-hay The first level is not really big and even there you have a minimap, the main idea of level 2 is to find a way out, there is no need to tell the player where directly he should go, yhanks for your feedback!
The best game on Ludum Dare
@zlmp Thanks for feedback
Took me too much time to figure out it was an archer shooting at me. And how do you fight the boss? I went through the game having no idea what the items do. I (obviously) didn't read the text block, I see now that you can swap weapons, I suppose that was the way to fight the boss.
Good job making this game, this is fun game but you needed to mention that on scroll you change weapons, i was thinking that you need to hit the boss with a pickaxe.
@thejonu u are right, thanks for your feedback!
@kudneus actually i wrote it in description:"swap weapons - Mouse Wheel(You can swap weapons only after passing 2 level)", still thanks for your feedback
Game is preaty intresting but short, and that's main problem. I think because of this game shortness you could add some randomness in every level that you have, like in first level, where to spawn ladder. Also game didn't explains anything, and that make some confusing situation like in second level I thought that I can kill that thing on tower. Also boss I think it is boring, yes it looks good (but with lack of animation), you could add more phases or make him faster. That's my thoughts on gameplay. In other ways, graphics a kinda good, I liked menu, text and intro animation but in same way I didn't like character animation. Sound was not that bad, but in the intro it's to loud. And that's it. Good job!
@darkemerald about the shortness: i mentioned that we didn't have enough time to make the game longer or smh and in description i told that bossfight is unfinished and not as good as expected, about the story: i wrote a bit in description, the main scope of game, about loud music in menu, there are settings where you can change it. Thanks for your feedback!
Fun game! I finished it pretty quickly however I did not find that one amulet. So the maze was definitely good. I hope you finish the boss fight because the gameplay is pretty nice.
@iman thanks for your feedback!
@iman Thanks for your feedback last amulet was in maze, i it hiden.
Fun little game, would have been helpful having a tutorial on how to switch weapons in game though. I like the theme and concept.
@yeppe the controls are mentioned in description, thanks for your feedback!
Lovely looking game. I would have had the controls in a transition before the story. The attack animation could have been more obvious as I didnt know when I was hitting an enemy or not. The arrow traps were killer haha maybe blood splatters at the corner to indicate a trap?
@micia thanks for your feedback!
I wasn't able to understand how to fight the monsters at all (LMB seems to work only to break the boxes). That's very frustrating, cause I really like the setting and the general vibe seems neat.
@ksonyanya you need to stay to beat monsters, cause while you are moving their collision is also moving and you cant damge them, but still, thanks for your feedback!
Interesting setting, liked it, but also was a little confused with weapons and tried to fight with a pickaxe, GJ!)
@flamingo thanks for your feedback!
Nice stuff. The graphics could be a bit more responsive though. If I swing the pickaxe, the arm has to move. If i shoot an aroow, the crossbow must be animated accordingly. Still, great for the time frame.
Lesson learned, I'm a terrible dwarf xD
That was a really fun mood you guys put down, I really enjoyed the start, the voiceover was a little painful to the ears and I had to watch it twice since I cant read when there's sound xD I really like the intro monologue :')
The fighting was a little tricky as it was hard to spot when I did something, and it was only after turning the sound back on that I realised I was actually doing things.
Great job on the jam, happy future jamming ^^
@rgb-games thank you very much for feedback!
@landerack thanks mate!
Nice job, this game has a surprising amount of variety in it. I enjoyed the intro and the dwarf portrait. I found it to be difficult to tell where my melee attacks were hitting - even when I was right in front of something I had to mash and wiggle around to kill it. A more representative animation or hit particle effects could help with that. I was completely unable to hit the boss with the pick even when inside of him, but fortunately I eventually remembered how to switch to the crossbow.
I had no idea what the slider in the settings menu was for, so I just set it to the max because that's how I was feeling.
@bmacintosh we definetly could make more animations for the character so it was intuitive, controls are mentioned in description, you can damage boss only with arrows and slider in settings is volume control, thanks for your feedback!
Good job with the game! The little story at the start was great :)
I struggled a bit with the attack controls. It was not really clear when the pickaxe hits and what range the attack has. Some of the barrels couldn't be destroyed I think? Was stook for quite a while in the maze, trying to destroy a barrel that blocked the path without realising there is an alternative path around it.
@heremeus Thanks for the feedback
Found the enemies difficult to kill, and there wasn't any indication I was being attacked/damaged. In the maze it's a little tough to see the walls, and wasn't sure if those archers? were attacking me.
Could be a nice little game once it gets a bit more polish :)
@bigbadbison thanks for feedback!
Interesting game< the fact that the gameplay change a bit in the second level is cool. And Knizmuct was hard to defeat. Good jod!
I like the idea of your game and that you decided for a topdown view. This fits very good. A bit confusing in the beginning was, that the guy is always facing the mouse while walking in any direction. That felt a bit like.. ''sliding'' all the time. Anyway while playing the player gets used to it, I think. I would have wished for some visual feedback on the character, when getting hit but all in all it was fun to play and a good result for a three day game. Good job! :)
@lepoulet @tankou thank you guys for feedback!
Nice game. The music and the low light on the second level really sets the mood, and helps making it fun to continue searching for the next stairs down. It was hard for me to notice when my life was low, or that I couldn't hit the archers with the pickaxe, but the UI with descriptive text helped understand the options a lot.
The introduction of the boss is quite nice. I love being faced against huge bosses, and the last level was challenging and entertaining.
Well done!
@albertnez thanks for feedback!!!
I kept running into walls in the maze because they were similar color making them hard to spot but eventually made it through and beat the boss :slight_smile:
@ayced Thanks for the feedback
a bit of trial and error while discovering how to play, but that never hurt anyone. The character movement feels smooth and fluid, I really enjoyed this game well done :D
@revilo thanks for feedback!
Nice game I like the maze level and the boss fight.
@john-llyod-apolo thank you for feedback!
Yo, cool game. I enjoed your graphic style. Good luck and my congratulations <3
@kirby thank u!
The boss fight was hard! I could not defeat Gnizmuct. Damage indicator as in character visible being hurt or maybe even a screen shake would help a lot with the fighting and the timing when to use the health potion. Also mapping the potion to a key and being able to carry more than one potion would help me personally a lot.
Was there a way to defeat the archers or was running away the only way to survive?
Overal good job it was quite intense fun and I liked the intro, the maze and the mood the game gives. 👍
@jonah Yes there was a way to defeat archers to shoot them from crossbow and with boss the same. Thanks for feedback
Good work on the sound design, it felt very atmospheric.
@refrax295 thank you!
Managed to get trough the maze the second try, controls was a bit confusing, was running away from the boss for like 2 minutes by the time I realized I can swap to crossbow with the mousewheel, after that it was piece of cake, he never stood a chance :smile:
Was a big fan how the boss fight had two phases, I'm a sucker for multi phase bosses :slight_smile:
Fun entry! The maze part is very claustrophobic but that seems fitting for the mood. Boss was a bit easy though!
@stin thanks for the tip!
that helped me defeat him! Screenshot 2021-04-28 at 11.30.57.png
pretty fun boss fight also; I like that it has different stages!
@freamdev @gramozilho @jonah thank you guys a lot for feedback!
I really appreciate the work that went into this game, and the scope that you undertook - good job getting this to a playable, and nearly complete state! Still, I have some constructive criticism:
- Attacking, which is one of the main and only gameplay mechanics, is quite unclear. Walking seems to stop the attack animation (and maybe the attack as well?), and the only way I managed to defeat the enemies on the first floor was to stand in place, hold LMB and pivot 45 degrees for the pickaxe to touch them. Destroying barrels and chests required me to spin to some similarly unintuitive angle while spamming LMB. - The maze is somewhat frustrating. I believe keeping the camera at a wide shot, not zoomed in, would have actually helped orientation a bit. Also, the archers in the maze are able to target you at any distance, while you have very limited sight, making every corner turned a dice roll to take damage. - Once getting the crossbow, holding LMB only shoots while arrow, incentivizing the player to click repeatedly as fast as possible to shoot. This isn't much of a problem since the game ends soon after, but in general that's both a user experience issue and a potential cause of RSI. Please avoid repeated key strokes or mouse clicks!
That being said, congratulations on what you've managed to achieve in such a short time frame!
@eden-shazar Thank for your feedback!
Great job on the ambient audio! The scene with the character in the beginning is well done!
I would format the controls on this page as a bullet point list (line starting with minus for each control), so you see it immediately. One thing I'd add in game is a checkpoint system since having to restart from the beginning is a bit punishing.
Great job overall!
@eden-shazar Thanks for your feedback and critics
@eden-shazar thanks for cunstructivi criticism and your feedback, appreciate that!
@seebass22 we have a special amulet for "game saving", so if you find it and die, you will be revived on then same spot, thanks for feedback!
@all we have fixed most of bugs and added some tips to make game more intuitive so you can try it one more time if you have already played it, if not - enjoy!
Nice game!
The visual and audio are a bit blunt but very understandable. I like all the little audio feedback even on simple interactions. The text indications is a great jam solution to all all those things that are not intuitive, it made the game enjoyable all along. Was it done post jam though? You might want to make that really clear somewhere.
Thanks for the game I had fun!
@doot thanks for feedback, and yes these are post jam fixes)
When i click Play in main menu screen fades a bit then unfades but i am still in main menu
Same thing for settings and credits
Tested in chrome and windows edge, same result
@luddegodofpain i think you can try again cause by me and my mate it's warking perfect, thank you
Cool looking art and very nice and fitting background music! Bossfight looks alright to me btw :)
@notinatal Thanks for your feedback
i love the characters and jewellery in your game, and did you make a language for it too?? impressive stuff!!
Nice game !
I try to finish this damn maze but i didn't 😭
The art, sound effect and indication good indication but a little fuzzy at certain times, you made a story it sound nice !
Well done !
I like dwarf game! Good game, love the art style :D Keep going !
Hey matey, thanks for submitting your game to the stream! I hope my feedback is helpful, I really enjoyed the game! Here's the twitch vod if you wanna rewatch:

@core69 @articka @vuvuzela80 @justcamh Thanks for feedback
Interesting concept! I managed to get stuck in the maze any dying a few times, but definitely a game that would be fun to see being developed further!
Nice little game :v:
@milestone-games @gareld thank u for feedback guys, appreciate that!
Fantastic cut-scene at the beginning. Audio and art is nice! Although the game is short it is fun. The walls in the maze however, are almost too similar in colour. It can be hard at times to distinguish between floor and wall. Apart from that it is a really great submission. The boss could possibly be a little harder. Well done and best of luck with your future projects :D
The gameplay was a bit confusing, I didn't know how to go down at the ladder (well solved that). After that I got to the maze and things get much more diffcult since I couldn't see well and each time I got hit by an arrow. Nevertheless that dwarven tongue was hillarious xD and the sound makes the atmosphere more immersive. You guys did a lot of mechanics right there!
Another thing is that the boss stopped after a while and I cannot damage him, then a barrage of monsters shot their arrows at me, perhaps a bit of invisibility time would help and of course, make the archers damagable xD
@dannyk1994 @valeth2124 thanks a lot for feedback!
Wow, fun game! I liked title story screen:D interesting gameplay!
@phoenix-gi thank you for feedback!
Nice game! I liked the effect when you enter a room on the first level, where everything outside fades out to brown. I also liked the controls. I liked the sound design. I liked the art and tileset... except the stone walls. I thought they were another kind of floor tiles at first. Also, I actually liked the boss fight. :shrug: Thanks for making this game!
@cannashblue Thanks for your feedback!
I really liked the overall presentation of this game. Good Job.. Played it twice cause i couldn't throw an arrow at my first run :-D
@ar-borno Thanks for your feedback!
I got stuck in the 1st level, it was hard to figure out what to do. The combat system is hard, as there is no health bar for the goblins and they just won't die.
@saathvik actually goblins are killed in 1 punch, you have a lot of tips how to get deeper, where to go and so on, our game was rated on streams 3 times and all people figured out how to pass the level and even the game, but still thanks for feedback!
Love the atmosphere. Great job!
@sugarsugarsugar THX FOR FEEDBACK!
Neat game! As others mentioned, the pickaxe is kinda hard to use but I was able to make it work :) Nice flashlight effect and the fadeout on entering rooms!
@sodaro thank you for feedback!
Unintuitive control scheme. I would have preferred you to move along the axis defined by the mouse rather than the arrow key cardinal directions. Your control scheme was non-standard and not what I expected from a keyboard and mouse game. Also, you made me wait 2 whole seconds each time clicking buttons to get to and from settings and controls screens. It should be (at least nearly) instantaneous. Don't get in the way of the game! The controls screen made reference to a crossbow but I didn't have a crossbow. It wasn't obvious I was being attacked by the skeletons because they didn't look like skeletons and I couldn't see the first one because it was hidden behind the UI. Their projectiles were small and hard to see against the background too. I thought the prologue with the character talking was a good mood-setter; well done for that. Obviously a lot of work went in to this so hats off. I think with some improvements and more attention to the fundamentals could see a great improvement to this game. Keep it up!
Nice to see this kind of topdown game. Interesting levels, nice graphics. To make the maze a bit clearer to read you could consider having higher contrast in some way between the walls and the ground just to make navigation a bit snappier
Good job!
Needs better attack animation with bigger hit raduis. Also, actual screenshots.
@tim77 @okamit @baturinsky Thanks for your feed back
@tim77 thanks for construcrive ctiticism!
I liked how you changed the camera size on the different levels. I assume it was necessary because the maze would have otherwise been revealed. But it was still a nice touch. It took me a while to figure out how to make the boss vulnerable again. And at first I didn't understand that the skeletons were hitting me because there is no visual or audio feedback when getting hit by them. I liked the experience. Thanks for sharing :D
@noel-widmer thank you for feedback!
It will be great dungeon crawler if you will work on this concept.
Great game, a lot of potential if you decide to expand on it. One thing though, make the health bar fill colour a bit more distinct from the background colour, I did not know I was losing health until I died.
I'm always impressed by a jam game that has items, consumables, mutliple levels, combat, voice acting, and is bug-free from what I could tell. Nice little tolkien-esque dwarf game. the only things I wanted to see would be a much more impressive attack animation with the pick axe, along with a visual representation of the damage that you are doing-- it would make it a lot more enjoyable to interact with. Also, although I thought that the last boss was fun, dodging the skeletons and all, there is no indication of why you would have to defeat the skeletons at one point, where the boss stops taking damage. I did read the text and figure it out, but more communication would help. Overall, nice short, impressively complete experience.
@azakharov @escapade @microchasm Thanks for your feedback
@microchasm thanks for construcrive ctiticism!
Congratulations on the game, I am very happy when I meet other users of the construct, the concept of the game is good, I can improve some arts in the future to make some enemies clear, I thank you for the opportunity to play your game, a big hug to everyone, and I look forward to your reviews regarding my game.
@etrealjunior thank you for seedback!
I like the game. Everything made pretty good sense to me. There could for sure be some improvements. But it's on the right track for sure!
Thanks for letting us play! I enjoyed it, would love to have played more. I think the boss could have been a bit more difficult. It seemed easier than the standard skeletons earlier in the game.
@link270 thanks for feedback!
I liked the mood and the art. The movement was also fun. I feel like the Skeletons shot a little too fast, or had a good aim. They were hard to avoid. Also the wall could be a different color from the ground as well.
@1minatur thanks for feedback and i wrote ind description that the bossfight is a bit unfinished)
@tanner-shelton thanks for feedback!
neat little game. Though I died due to destroying every box and barrel that I found. Collected some amulets, but otherwise didn't finish.
The mood could have been improved by adding a very subtle background music, along with the e.g. water drops.
@xparker thanks for feedback!
Cool game , I like the idea , I find the game a bit hard , I think turrets are overpowered .
@deedose thx for feedback mate!
The idea here is cool - it's a shame you guys didn't have longer to flesh it out. The enemies in the first room that charge at you were fun to fight, and the atmosphere of the maze was really nice!
My main complaint is that it just feels unfinished. The combat felt a little inconsistent, the art style is a little all over the place (when going for pixel art, generally you should stick to only having a few colours per sprite, and each pixel in game should be the same size), and the balance with the skeletons was a little off. But, it was made in 72 hours, so assuming all that gets fixed in a post-jam version? This is a solid little game! Nice one.
@tom-robson thank you very much for feedback and constructive criticism!
The atmosphere is well achieved. The second level with the labyrinth I felt claustrophobia really(that's good). Unfortunately the green boss bugged and my arrows couldn't dealt any damage.. I tried once more but it happened again. Appart from that I had fun. Nice work.
@re-lo it is boss’s second phase, you need to defeat sceletons do damage him, there is a tip, but still thanks for feedback !
@vsi My mistake, I didn't saw the msg at the corner, i won now hehe
At the risk of sounding like I missed your vision, I think this would be better served to work as a sort of puzzle game ala Deadly Rooms of Death?
Gnizmuct got stuck on a southern wall and it took me a while to realize I had to do something other than just keep shooting him. I generally think more feedback for damaging and interacting with the enemies would be very beneficial.
The ideas you've got in here really intrigue me, great work so far!
@threeli thanks for feedback and constructive criticism !
Good job on the game, it was quite a bit of fun
enjoy my playthrough:
https://youtu.be/KXoF25n0h04
@ausstein thanks a lot, appreciate that!
atmosphere wise i really liked this game, though the turrets perpetually being out of sight with how the vision in the game worked was a little frustrating, definitely some real points for being on point with the theme :)
the intro screen alone was impressive though :D
Cool little game ! And wow, begining cutscene with voice, for a 72h jam ? Damn !
The maze part was, for me, less enjoyable than the first part : being in the dark and trying fo find my way randomly was a bit boring, but fortunally there was not a lot of pathes.
The boss was quite easy, but you warned that it was unfinished, so it's ok :). 2 levels + a boss is a lot of content for a game jam. Good job =) !
A nice game! The fade transition to setting menu or to the game start felt a bit slow. There's a little bug in the settings menu: the starting volume level is 0 but the slider is located in the wrong place, and also the volume slider doesn't fade into black when you exit this menu. It would also be nice to have a text that tells the player that it's the volume slider :)
Concerning the game itself, it would be nice to have some attack animation/effect so that the player can see the attack range. Runes on the floor are a nice touch, but they are barely visible, maybe you could make them glowing? The stone walls have pretty much the same grey color as the ground, and it was a little confusing trying to distinguish them at first.
The maze level felt a little off because the view area was too small, so that when you move too much stuff moves on the screen (like looking through a window in a fast-going car), which is slightly painful to the eyes. I think this could be fixed by simply using the same camera as in the first & third levels.
The game overall felt a bit too easy (and short, but that's completely understandable for a jam!), and the boss fight didn't really feel like a boss - the crossbow allowed you to just unleash tons of bolts onto the enemies while dodging their arrows. The UI sometimes overlapped with enemies, which made it a little hard to aim.
Anyways, nice entry, enjoyed it, good job!

@profan @lisyarus Thanks for your feedback
@lisyarus hank you very much for feedback and constructive criticism
Whew I won. I was struggling with all these skeletons shooting at me. I think the arrows move a bit to fast in the maze. Left me little time to react. I ended up wiggling my way through the hallways lol. Good job
@snip-man Thanks for feedback
First off, I liked the game, the sounds were funny (enjoyable) and wandering around collecting amulets by destroying boxes and barrels was cool - fighting felt a bit unresponsive and everyone is a one hit kill? (except the boss)
I'd add a white flash when you hit an enemy and a red flash when an enemy hits you. Next - the arrow guys, is there any way to kill them before you get the crossbow? Explaining weapon switching at the beginning of a boss battle also felt kind of stressful - if the player would collect the crossbow in the middle of the maze, then proceeds the second half to the hole using it, it would be a better build up to the boss battle, I guess.
One more thing: you could have split the intro text in 3 parts, providing the player one part at a time, so there is a connection with the story through the game and less text at the beginning.
Voice acting, if we can call it one, was cool. xD
Anyway, cool game. ^^
@leorid yes everyone is one hit, there is no way to kill arrow guys in maze at all. Thanks for your feedback
Nice game, skeltons were a bit annoying for me. Other than that i enjoyed it.
@martinek Thanks for your feedback
@martinek Thanks for your feedback
@all Thanks for your feedback
Nice game, the maze level was the right amount of 'where do I go' and 'what is shooting me!' Can't really add any further feedback other than what others have raise.
Interesting game, I like the concept and the addition of amulets, but it was a bit unclear what each one does. It appears I used one when I died and respawned.
A bit short and after you acquire the crossbow maybe go one or more levels before fighting the boss so you can use it a bit more.
Overall good game, good job guys.
@silkypantsdan that’s the idea of maze actually, but I think we could improve smh to make it more intuitive, thanks for feedback!
@mololo thanks for advices and feedback!
Game has a nice pace, and it feels like a rpg. It lacks some sound effects on the crossbow for example, and some particle effects to make the game prettier. The boss fight was pretty easy with the crossbow, since he couldn't get close enough to hit me. But well, I like to slain goblins and skeletons ! Nice work :)
@youhou Thanks for your feedback
Not my type of game, but a good one!
@marcionix Thanks for your feedback
Very cool. I love me a good dungeon crawler. The intro was super fun with the dwarfy voice. The audio is nice and spooky. The game play is easy to get your head around and the three levels are nicely ramped in dificulty. the pixel art style is a great call back to some of my favorite old school dungeon crawlers. Excellent Submission. Thanks so much for bring this by my stream. Here's a link to the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1005922340?t=0h15m59s
@ramble-house-games thanks a lot for playing our game and feedback!
good job, lots of content for a game jam game
Thanks for bringing your game by my stream for playtesting! Sorry I wasn't able to get to it when you were around. If you'd like to watch the play and commentary you can view the highlight at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1008724062
What a grand adventure! This entry was solid all around the board, but the sound design put it a cut above the rest. Loved the goblin sounds most of all. Huzzah!
@cheesepencil @marcmagus @quite-good thank you guys a lot for feedback and good words!
This is a nice submission! The art is definitely great.
I think there're a few roughness that could be improved for a post jam version (for example, I didn't realize I could hurt the enemies with the pickaxe, because when I tried nothing changed until they died) but it general it's pretty solid, congrats!
@kotzi thanks for feedback !
I found all marker for a rpg game :) I haved some difficulties to find the crossbow but the boss was interesting for a Jam :)
Goood job.
@florianduf thanks a lot for feedback!
I enjoyed this one, thanks! Nice work, I like the art, and it was a pretty varied experience for a jam game.
@pat-cleaver thanks for feedback!
This game has a lot of potential! Somethings id like in a later build is:
- Background music, atleast during bossfights - Visual feedback for when the boss is invulnerable. - Just more!! I want to see more of this game :D
Good job, this was a really good entry, if a bit short!
@jonrei Thanks for feedback. Boss fight was made not so cool the way it should be because it was made in the last hours.
I defeated Gnizmuct! Overall the game was good, I liked alot the introduction, it made me smile :-D The first goblin scaried me alot! On the first attemp I died by a skeleton arrow in the maze (I was a bit confused about where to go). On my second attempt I managed to take the crossbow and kill the boss. Since I didn't really understand what the medallions where for I played a third time and (if I understand correctly) they are needed to break the last rock and descend to the boss level.
Theres something odd about the way you move the character... probably it's because the camera doesn't move past the edge of the map so neither does the pointer (it stand still). This makes the character rotate even if you didn't want to (because it moves and the camera/pointer stand still). I experienced mainly in the maze. Anyway after a while I got used to it so I think it's ok :-)
@viperux Blue is second life, red is double damage for boss, green infinity arrows. Thanks for feedback
