LD46 — Keep it alive

Undead Car by M2tias 2020-05-10T03:11:22Z

Cool game! The one thing I always advocate for is a tutorial level rather than a wall of text. It's really hard for the player to really understand all of the mechanics of the game just through text. Regardless the game itself was fun and interesting, just could've been introduced better!

Light in darkness by tgiant 2020-05-05T04:10:27Z

Cool game! Nice art style and the connection to the theme was apparant. We also totally had the same kind of concept for a game, and I thought my idea was so quirky lmao!

Into the Abyss by Pie-Tras 2020-05-10T02:29:38Z

Cool game and execution. The audio was really cool and set the mood really well. Awesome submission. Especially since you made in in java, really cool.

House Bouncers by LuckyFeathers 2020-05-05T04:47:45Z

I loved this game! It's a really interesting take on the theme and I love the amount of content available! Really impressive for a jam game! Good luck!

Balloon Ride (HTML5/Web) by jeplmr 2020-05-10T02:36:22Z

I think the pacing of the game was a little bit slow and it wasn't very exciting. Maybe some more feedback when the player enters through a ring or something. The graphics were neat though. Good submission!

The Lamp Man by Jakub Panek 2020-05-10T02:50:35Z

The lighting was awesome and I really appreciate the graphics of the game. I think the game has a neat concept and in theory could play well, but I think the pipes being hidden is a little confusing and made the game less enjoyable than if you had found another way to introduce challenge into the puzzles. Overall cool submission with a great atmosphere. Good luck!

In Brothers Arms by vizitas 2020-05-05T04:37:37Z

Awesome sound choice. The mood of the game is great and I appreciate how it relates to the theme. Something like this never even crossed my mind! Well done.

The Keep by davidvfilipe 2020-05-05T04:17:52Z

Really awesome game overall. Graphics are on point, music was eerily fitting, the mechanics are well done and it adheres to the theme plenty.

A couple of things in my opinion, maybe make the player move a little slower so theres more of a tradeoff for when you wander far away from the dog. I found that for the first little while the best course of action wasn't actually to protect the dog, but instead to run around like a raging lunatic murdering everything in sight. Which was still fun but maybe not the intended gameplay loop.

Also, the dog just cannot figure out doorframes lmao.

OVERALL fantastic submission. Good luck bro!

Feeding Words by notgreat 2020-05-10T02:00:56Z

This is a really cool idea, and to be honest it was executed pretty well. I just think the concept itself isn't overly fun. You definetely tried to make it fun with the powerups which helped, but it felt like you were trying to fix a motor for like 1674. Either way, good submission overall!

Attack on Dungeon by phantomeniasll 2020-05-05T04:45:00Z

I love the idea of the screenshake and the particles, but I think they are both a little bit overtuned. I was starting to get nautious at the end lmao!

Really fun game! I loved the different ways I could kill enemies. Awesome submission dude! Keep it up and good luck!

Eat preys, love by anoushcat 2020-05-10T03:03:20Z

This is a really awesome game. Not even gonna call it a submission because it feels so polished and complete that it may as well be a standalone, well, game! The idea was cool, the execution was excellent, and overall I think this is definetely one of my favourite games in the jam.

The only thing I have a problem with is the sound of incubating, which to be honest was the reason I closed the game. It's really nails-on-chalkboard esque and actually kind of hurt to listen to.

Regardless well done on the submission because 99.999% of the game was fantastic!

Keep the Plants alive! by Bohrmaschine2000 2020-05-05T04:21:39Z

Cool game, little bit confusing at first, maybe some more context but overall good submission! Was pretty fun.

Convicted by RiverC4 2020-05-05T04:00:15Z

Really fun submission! I loved the dialogue. It was all really funny and enjoyable! I will say it took me like 2 minutes to figure out I had to right-click to advance the dialogue in the beginning. After I found out though, it definetely felt better than had it been on like spacebar or something. Maybe next time just sneak in some dialogue that tells the player to right-click.

Regardless I had fun, good luck!

Torch Wood by Jakey113G 2020-05-05T05:11:10Z

Cool execution of the theme. I really felt myself tense up once I realized how little light I still had while I was in the middle of the cave lmao. Good job!

How to Air by kwaku 2020-04-23T08:17:38Z

The atmosphere you created is amazing. The combonation of sounds and art really just makes the game super appealing.

Gonna be honest felt reaaaally bad about sticking the poor creature with a needle but it had to be done I guess :sob:

1922: The Unfortunate Olympian by Mark Keeble 2020-04-23T08:23:40Z

Thanks for the feedback bubba! I definetely get what you're saying about the controls. Something felt off even when I was playing it myself, just couldn't figure out the best control scheme in time for submission. Also sorry about forgetting to mention how to pick up the torch! I guess it slipped my mind :sob:

And yeah, I was aware of the fact that you could get locked out of areas and wanted to fix it but just didn't have time. I'm probably gonna atleast fix the controls and the lockout, and who knows, maybe I'll try to flesh out the idea a little bit more.

1922: The Unfortunate Olympian by Mark Keeble 2020-05-10T10:26:54Z

To all the people that left reviews, thank you so much. It really means a lot and I appreciate all of the feedback.

Yeah the game is really buggy, idk what to say other than that haha. It sucks because I myself really like the concept of the game and the art my partner made, and it feels like all the bugs take away from the experience. For that, I'm sorry.

At some point in the future, I'll probably return to the project and remake a lot of the systems in place to make the game at least playable. Ideally though, I already have some ideas in mind for modifications to how the water works as well as most importantly, how I can code the doors in a less stupid way lmao!

Regardless, once again, thank you all for your time, I really do appreciate it!

Fleauwer - Sairentouddo by Sairentouddo 2020-05-10T02:40:04Z

Cool game, probably needs more feedback for certain things like the bomb or killing enemies in general. Stuff like particles and a little screenshake can go a long way. I also couldn't really understand the controls? They just feel really awkward to me but maybe to others they were fine? Anyways, overall enjoyed it.

Skip A Beat by Zyger 2020-05-05T03:52:21Z

Came here from your video! The game is crazy polished for a game jam, and I think you did a great job with the atmosphere. Great subission!

The Offer by TheWinrawr 2020-05-10T03:08:21Z

Cool game! I think it's pretty obvious that there was a lot more you wanted to do with the game but simply ran out of time for. That makes this a wonderful learning experience and I'm sure in your next jam you'll do even better.

The game itself is really mysterious, dark, and gloomy. It had a great atmosphere. I can only imagine how good it would feel if there were proper sound effects. Awesome submission dude, good luck!

Save the torch! by eduardogacn 2020-05-10T02:57:29Z

Really cool game. I loved the art and aesthetics. The music was really awesome aswell. I think it was very challenging. though maybe thats what you intended? Personally, I had some issues with the controls. They didn't feel overly intuitive to me and I struggled to be able to use them fluidly. That might just be a me problem though haha. Maybe it could've used a little bit more juice when an enemy died like some screenshake, but overall really well done. Awesome submission bro! Good luck!

Keep Me Alive by rrrzzz 2020-05-05T04:03:47Z

I really appreciate the unique take on the theme. I think overall some more apparant feedback would be great. I understand the minimilistic nature and why you'd want to keep the dot small, but as you said in another reply, having it start a little larger and shrinking as it gets closer to death would be awesome. Or maybe a tiny bit of screenshake when you interact with the button. Just something to make it at least a little bit more satisfying.

Overall though, really cool submission, good luck bro!

SLUGS - Save Sally The Slug by lexusinator 2020-05-10T02:43:36Z

Cool game, beautiful art! I like the idea but feel like there wasn't enough feedback for the player. It was kind of hard to tell whether or not what I was doing was correct or not. I also feel like it was a little bit slow, but that might just be my preference. Overall good submission bro, good luck!
