The forces are pretty cool. Shame the game as no audio though!

A really fun, and challenging physics game. The lack of audio is a huge shame tho.

Well done game! Even though I expierenced a bit of lag when spamming rockets, it was fun to play! I feel like a bit of background music and SFX would have added a lot to the game!

Very fun game! I love goofing off with gravity, so this game is a yes for me. good job, enven tough it would have been better with some sounds..:/

Simple game. Good work. Maybe can include more features to spice it up

I really like the integration of orbital mechanics into this, but the forwarning on asteroids is much too low. There's just no way to get a firing angle on half of the asteroids that spawn due to the station being on the other side of the planet.

Perhaps the aiming could be improved by having the plotted trajectory intersect the mouse position instead.

The graphics is pretty well done though :D

Edit: Oh wait, you can zoom. :P Though it still lags quite a bit with lots of rockets.

The game looked very promising according to the screenshots. I love games like this, but the gameloop itself did not live up to my expectations though. The art was very fitting but the controls were lacking and couldn't make this an enjoyable experience. I didn't like, that the spacecraft was endlessly circling around the planet. It made hitting some meteors completely impossible. Also, the shooting was not satisfying enough. The rockets were very slow and made guessing the right timing not a feasible option. Just spamming the mouse button worked way better. Also, there was no incentive to shoot the meteors. My planet never died even though Id didn't hit anything and there was no score or any other indication regarding my performance. the missing sound was the last straw.

Sorry if I sound too harsh, but I was really looking forward to your game :) Lots of the entries I played were tower defense variations which I don't like too much. Yours seemed to fit my taste perfectly, I'm just a little disappointed that I couldn't get the enjoyment out if it, which I craved.

Hope you can use my feedback to make the next game a better experience! Cheers!

Thanks everybody! Sound effects were definitely on the plan, but had to go to make time for final balancing and polish.

Some rocks do appear on the wrong side indeed. But most of them could be shot out with a good behind-the-back trick shot.

> My planet never died

Yeah, there is no gratuitous explosion on game over, but it gets baked properly after a few good hits. **UPD:** Welp. There is an effect scaling problem indeed. Good catch!

PS: Keep an eye on the itch page. I wouldn't let such potential out without converting some into kinetic first

I added some sounds, but IDK if I should publish this version

I did try running it, but I got a SDL error, something like "SDL_GL_CreateContext", "sdlExceptionError = "Could not create GL context: The operation completed successfully.\r\n"

Both the jam version and the post jam version gave the same error.

shadowhaxz0r 2020-05-03 11:25

Pretty cool, well executed although I think the game could have explored some new variations of these mechanics

theshamo 2020-05-03 12:09

Very nice netry, the gravity is a bit hard to master at first but very enjoyable little game !

mikel 2020-05-03 12:59

I like the concept... I have also explored making games with orbital mechanics in 2d and wonder how realisitic is your phisics but it feels very good :-)

I understand there is no way to win or lose the game... at least I didn't finish it in the linux version. But spend some time playing with it.

I missed to be able to fire a rocket with less speed so that the rocket stays in orbit... that would allow different tactics like keeping a shield of missiles flying by. For example if you fire prograde the rocket escapes but if you fire retrograde the missile stays in a high orbit. I think your phisic allows that, just well choosing the veolcity

Good work

ic-rainbow 2020-05-06 19:18

The platform itself has the ability to change its orbit, but the controls didn't make it in time. A nice elliptic trajectory could be fun to deploy things from indeed. There are quite a few variations in motion and weapon effects could be made. Honestly, I barely can wait until voting round comes to conclusion to bring in all the ideas.

Big thanks for everyone who played (and tried to launch, too!) <3

A game with orbital mechanics *.* I also did not realize, that you could zoom, some guidance in this direction would be appreciated. Also a health bar would be really nice (or is the planet size a health indicator?). During my tests I did not win or lose, so I could not really test this.
