The game crashed, and the lack of feedback is kinda misleading, but man I love the idea ! This is the kind of game I wished I made! Great game !

I got to the end, but I didn't quite understand how I did it... is there a certain path to approach the skull at each iteration, that you can only guess by try and error? Nevertheless, the graphics are pretty good!

I'm a big fan of the simple yet polished art style. I thought the game was too simple at first, until I went back through the levels with a more careful eye. Then I noticed a lot of gameplay depth hinted at here and there. This game could be plenty of fun with those gameplay mechanics fully explored through level design.

Side Note: I happened upon a bug, if you hold down the buttons you'll glitch through the wall.

One of my favourite entries so far. The minimalism is simply great. I'll be looking forward it without any doubt.

mrerdalural 2017-05-03 14:10

I liked the simplicity of the game. I think it is a very creative idea to make a mini rouge like. I really liked the mood of the game. Thank you for the game it was fun!

@mrerdalural thanks for the heads up, fixed that up

somethinboutgames 2017-05-03 15:24

Shame that you had to opt out of graphics and audio as they stood out to me from the first second :/

Nice short, simplistic game anyway.

devastus 2017-05-03 16:08

It's certainly what the description says, and _small_. A very simplistic yet fun idea. I'm struggling to think of ways for you to improve on it, with the 3x3 grid in my opinion not giving that much new options to take things further, so sorry for lacking feedback.

It took me a little while to understand that the enemies "detect" you diagonally as well, which resulted in perceivably sudden deaths. The moment you understand that though, the game gets very straightforward.

Fitting graphics. It ends abruptly, but as a proof of concept is a solid entry. Good job!

It's a nice prototype and a good concept, my issue with this game is that it crashed everytime I played and there was no pattern that I got from it so I can tell you what I did to crash it. I liked the art and it's a shame that you had to opt out from them. I would have liked more random things on it to make it more interesting. Good Game.

hey neat idea! i really like the art style and layout of the game. it has a great mood overall. it took me a moment to figure out the gameplay rules, but once i did i was able to quickly beat the game (or get to the two swords level where gameplay ends. i like what you have so far. i think it is a good skeleton to build upon, as you have the core mechanics down. i would like to see some variety in the puzzles, as at the moment the only puzzle is how to approach an enemy so that you when you are one away, you can attack first. that being said i do like the concept and think you should really flesh this game out post-jam!

tex-killer 2017-05-04 01:36

Interesting idea! You say the game lacks polish, but in my opinion it is very polished! What was lacking a bit was content, but I understand we can't always do all we want in the time we have. :P

Do you have an idea on how you would continue the game after the wings section?

By the way, it seems to me you use your own custom engine, just like me. Thumbs up for that, I know it is a struggle to keep everything working!

And thank you very much for the feedback you left on my game! Unfortunately, I can't seem to reproduce most of the issues. If you have the time and disposition, can you tell me what OS you used? And if you fell through the ground anywhere that wasn't a small passage (I didn't have time to program the restrictions on growing, so growing inside small passages is bound to go bad). In any case, thank you and good luck on your game and your engine! :)

dunin 2017-05-06 11:18

Because it's a good idea and well executed, I'm sad that there are only few levels. With wings, it would become more complex... I hope you will continue it...

ddrkirbyisq 2017-05-06 21:06

Cool prototype! I think the gameplay has some potential. The content is lacking and of course, first-time players aren't really given clear feedback, but it is LD after all. As others have said the simple art style really works well for you.

flaterectomy 2017-05-06 23:34

This is a pretty cool distillation of a classic roguelike/dungeon crawler. Definitely hope you'll continue on this, maybe not even to end up with a full game, but there's more to explore to see how far you can take a simplification of crawler mechanics.

The graphics are simple, which is the point. The green colour scheme in combination with it being a dungeon crawler reminds me of [Knights](http://www.knightsgame.org.uk), which makes me quite nostalgic. Would've benefited of some basic sound effects.

feips 2017-05-07 13:33

Amazing, I hope you develop it further.

omarshehata 2017-05-10 02:30

This was a surprisingly fun game! It was really confusing at first, not knowing why I was dying until I figured out I just had to approach the enemy straight on. But I felt like it was part of the game to "figure out" this puzzle. There's not much in way of animation, but the little sound effect, the bumps as you hit the wall or the enemy, the little jitters, these all really make for a really nice atmosphere. And this was really fun to play, and I would definitely play a more complete version!

g12345 2017-05-10 21:18

It's a very very small game, so it fits the theme.

I feel like it's currently more puzzle than roguelite, and with a bit more time, it can get even better.

dejvo 2017-05-16 11:49

It seem to have ended after I got the wings. but I like the simplicity and the art style. if you add more things and more levels, I can see this becoming a full fledged game! Nice job!
