Once you buy about 30-40 of any of them, the timer goes negative and keeps counting down infinitely. Not bad for a single day, though!

I broke the game. I had fun breaking it though! Live chatted the whole playing session to g12345 in the IRC. :3
Kudos for stepping out of your comfort zone and making a game type that is unfamiliar to you :) I'm not much of a clicker player, so I didn't play ultra-long, but it worked fine as far as I can tell :)
Sorry for the problem with the game being a bit broken... Somehow I've been very tired recently since the LD (probably too little sleep)... I will try to fix the game soon.
Yes, I think I have fixed the big timer bug now. I will classify this as a game breaking bug, so it's part of the jam version, but any improvements later on will be just a normal post-jam version. Hopefully I don't get more game-breaking bugs. :)
nice one, like how you had a try at something different and that you put another game in the background :) well done for getting it out there in the time you had!
Learn is part of the LD, so if ou learnt something, you don't losed time ;) Well, it's "just" another idle game, but it working, so you made a game, and that's the main purpose of LD (with learning). Hope you'll have more time the next LD ;)
I don't really undestand, the whole game, but the frog is addictive xD
Damn, I was stuck between 2 blocks :D
@pandakipu : press enter to reset the blocks.
also, i had to update a 3rd time, because fixing the game i have left the test code in :P
Kinda typical idle game, not really much to comment on. The old game graphics probably add some visuals. That's what we call reusability. :)
Also got some brain power myself. Hope it'll help further on. ;)
That's an easy way to make a background :P. One piece of information that would have been nice was how much money a generator is going to make after I buy the next level, so I can decide if I want to buy it or not.
I'm not a great fan of clickers and this one is pretty basic, but that's a good job for one day of work.
A simple improvement would be to align the numbers on the right (or simply use a fixed width) and add a thousand separator, because after 5 digits, it becomes hard to differentiate 10000 and 100000.
Good clicker considering you did it in one day! only got to the nuclear plants, I guess it would improve with something more than numbers to keep you playing. Good work overall!
Well, it's as typical a clicker game as they get I'd say. That's not necessarily a bad thing though, it's not like anyone could really expect much more from one day of development. The problem being there's not much else to really say about it.
I think it's a good effort in the timespan it's created in. Good work!
There's not many idle game on this LD, so it's a good idea to making one. I guess I played the fixed version because it worked properly without really any bugs. There's two major flaws to your game though. First, the game is too easy, you climb up all the steps too fast I feel. And the lack of feedback when you buy new stuffs is a bit disappointing. Second, the game in the background is a fun idea, but it's a bit distracting and doesn't help reading the text. But I have to say, it's a solid game for only one day of development. It's a fun little game, good job.
Interesting! Keep it up!
I enjoyed the game , although the background made it quite confusing !
I came. I saw. I clicked on things... and I had a good time!
EDIT: Some commas would be nice, though, to help see the thousands and millions!
The game's missing commas and theming.
I haven't seen this particular timer mechanic in other clicker games, and it definitely added some interesting dynamics (like buying out a bunch of a type just before its timer ends to maximize profit), but without any real reward to work towards the game feels a bit shallow. Cookie clicker had cookies, Candy Box had a story, idle RPG had boss monsters, this doesn't really try to do anything. I'd love to have even seen a background that starts empty and fills up with animals or buildings or anything, and the generator descriptions adjusted to match. Or maybe just some kind of "buy this mcguffin" endgame.
The numbers are also a bit too large to be meaningful; without commas or spacing, checking my balance involved either carefully counting the digits or just mashing on the various buy buttons to see which one works.
I don't really understand why the game's displaying my mouse position or score or depth.
@amras0000, @simonhutchinson, @draklaw and others: I will try adding commas in a post-jam version.
@amras0000: as for the other numbers, some are just test numbers that I didn't had time to remove. Although the depth and score is for the background game. As for the tricks of buying stuff just before the timer ends, that's now a common trick (and a good one to discover for yourself!) that's being used in many other idle games.
I still haven't think about how to add more information onto the screen yet. The game already had its resolution increased twice already. And a post-jam version could have more achievements and stuff, but this game at the jam version doesn't look much different than the very first versions of some other very successful idle games on Kongregate (and I've played quite a lot of them.)
Thanks for all the comments.
**Pros:** - Simple to play - Portable (Can be played on anything) - The idea of the different items/upgrades on timers is a pretty cool idea, instead of them all just going on 'per second' or 'per clicks' or something like that. - The game in the background was a cool idea but I'm not going to put too much into that as it was a past LD game.
**Cons/Improvements:** - Need of balancing (eg: the price for 'Horse Power' needs to go up more or the amount it gives you should decrease) - Graphics? Each of the upgrades / items to buy has just a blank box next to it I feel there should at the very least be some representation of them. - A interactive element? as mentioned the game in the background was cool but it would be better if there was a element that was more interactive and relates to the game / money itself.
**Conclusion:** - A solid foundation to what could be a great game with some balancing and added features, good work on your LD39 Jam entry.I wanted to just add that for a Jam entry it isn't bad and I understand a lot more would of been done with longer time to do so!
Agree with people above. The balance could be improved and the graphics are a bit buggy at times. Still a solid basis for improvement. Good job.
Haha! I've played until I had the first brain power! :0) After that I opened the console and typed money=1000000000000; and was rich! :0) Thank you for the game! :0)
@ruerob-hyky: when you said this, i remember i did this too in Cookie Clicker... Yes, it's fine if you do it... I don't mind it at all.
