The pixel art on the characters is really well done, and I like the thought behind the story and think it fits really well with the theme.
The only suggestion I'd make is for the sounds to be a little less harsh - maybe slightly 'happier' sounding when you rescue someone :)

Was far too easy there weren't really any decisions to make as a player. The one sound was very harsh.

It was really too easy, but good start for the first Ludum Dare :)
With this nice looking world, got the basics for a good game here. It still needs some kind of challenge and unpredictability. Just adding some enemies that bounce around would add a lot IMO.

Pixel art looked good, and the controls were simple and intuitive. Gameplay was pretty easy, and repetitive, however. A few more levels with more mechanics would have helped make things more interesting.

I didn't really understand what the fading meant :) I was too fast in the first try and didn't see anything of the world disappear. The game could easily be a bit faster and still be perfectly playable. The sprites look very cute, just the tiles don't really fit them because of the lower detail, but that doesn't make the game any worse, just telling you for the future :)
I guess there wasn't any time for that, but some music or the sound of the world falling apart would have really added to the atmosphere.

Nice little game.
I'm not too sure what I want to say here, other than that I like the idea and if I make a game like this, it would look almost exactly like this. I mean, I don't think I could have done the graphics any better.
Cute little game. Strangely laggy/flickering, but not enough to make me stop playing.
I dig the little sprites for the player and villagers - the rest is done in different way and in much lower resolution and clashes with the player and villager graphics.
Some puzzle or action elements would be needed to make the gameplay a bit more interesting.

it was a bit confusing that I had to save the purple monsters at first I just avoided them. The game was way to easy and never felt in danger of losing. Adding turrets or puzzles would have been a nice touch to have added.
