Simple and easy to understand, not bad but the game was far too easy, i think it would be more challenging if your hp in the last level was the same as the one when i was level 1, about 50 or 40 hp, forcing you to strategise more against the dragon instead of just blazing with your claymore. also making the regeneration of the mp slower would also help

Pretty retro RPG action! I liked it from beginning to end. The game seemed to get easier with time and was relatively easy all in all. I didn't miss any animations or the audio, it's pretty the way it is (and the music has an epic melody, very fitting for the game!)
The tileset and sprite styles are top notch, too!
One downside was the lack of key-repeat, my fingers are still sore from running around ;-)

Cool gameplay, cool graphics, cool music! I played until the end, and it was fun!
Some improvement ideas: the text scrolling is laggy as hell, and the music loop is a little glitchy. And I confirm that we need a key-repeat :-)

Another solid javascript game! That was very VERY good! Could easily be turned into a 'real' game with some tuning (like the one-mp-per-tile regen, that was weird haha) and more content. Javascript power!

Yes, Key-repeat!
And I finished this game too, so many spells and i ended up with using only healing...
The diagonal fighting is very useful here, too.
And the music is really too repetitive.
But I like you use just javascript to make the game! (My game is too.)

Thanks for the plays everybody! Key-repeat is something I added in my post-compo code which I'll probably upload next month, along with some general difficulty tweaks/polish for a better all-round experience.
Interesting retro game you have here, it certainly does have a feeling of the oldest rpg games.
The controls also as confusing as they were in the old games though. You really could improve that one part(or it is just me personally never liked old style controls).
Loved it from the first screen shot and it didn't disappoint. I'm totally biased towards traditional rpgs though. The artwork and music was really nicely done. For criticism, the balancing obviously needs adjustment, I didn't even end up using any of the spells or healing herbs, its pretty easy to use the turn movement to attack first and mostly wipe them out on the first hit and never take damage. More dialogue and text please, for me one of the pleasures of rpgs is the story and flavour you get from interacting with characters and objects so more of that would be great. Still for the time constraint I can't complain too much. Anyway great job

I love the fact that I could attack myself with bare fists and actually lose HP :)
I like this more than I should, probably because of the strong nostalgia factor, reminds me of the good ol' days too much.
Balance needs adjustment of course, and more content (plus some sfx, but not much) is obviously needed, but the base is fun as is, and neatly done.
As for the controls, they're confusing, but that's actually like it should be here in my opinion. Feels more like the old games that way, where working out the controls was part of the fun.
Good job - I like it, I had fun, cheers!

I don't usually like these type of games and wasn't expecting much, but to my surprise I really enjoyed playing it. The controls are a bit weird to get used to but overall good job.
