I like the death sound a lot. I heard it many times.
Simple but effective mechanics. However I didnt understand the difference between dash and attack upgrades. Seems to me that they were the same thing?

Graphics and music are very clean and the game is fun! my best strategy so far was to not pickup items at all ... (i reached the green torch levels) maybe the "pickup/not pickup" balance should be improved in order to force the player to carry items.
Very cool. Graphics are nice, and I really like the music. I also really like the slowdown on the music when you die, it really adds to the mood.
This game is good. I like the graphics and sound effects. I just don't understand how to attack.
Quite hard at first, but once you understood how to deal with enemies it gets quite funny.
Should be a bit easier (for instance double the amount of HP - we could need it, so we don't get frustrated :P)
This is the first and only game that I've rated perfectly. Wow. This is incredibly well polished, it fits the theme well, and it's fun. I think, if it were a real game, it would need more variety and some polish, but I think you nailed a core nugget that really works. Serious congratulations.
This game is really great. It's smooth to play, and has some replay value because it generates different levels. I'm impressed at the level of polish for Compo. The only improvement I could see is a greater variety of items (maybe changing jump, or running speed?) and more enemies, perhaps that get more difficult later in the level.
Quite enjoyed it but the z to jump took some getting used to as jump is usually space.
I reached level 5, where I was cruelly slain by a wasp and a tribble. It would be nice if the items granted more interesting effects, like knockback, poison, etc. Randomizing the item stats could also make collection more enticing.
I reached level 5, and I felt like everything became repetitive. Basically once you get one sword and one bracers and know how to fight the flies, the game becomes the same for the rest of the game.
It is, however, very polished and nice looking, so it's still great!
This was my favorite entry that I rated so far. I really liked haha. It was the most fun to me and I got nothing to say. Maybe using a sound to give the player more feedback about using dash again. I noticed the lil star, but a sound in the middle of the action would be even better. Awesome job!
There's a strong foundation here and this is one of the only times I've heard audio that was genuinely catchy, though the sounds could likely have been better balanced. Some more feeling in feedback when attacking enemies would be appreciated, but as it is the game looks good and the platforming feels good, so all that's left is for attacking to feel a bit better. Good work, this is definitely one of the stronger entries!
Great entry! The character is easy and fun to control. The sound effects are good, and go well with the powerful 8-bit soundtrack! The level design could be a little stronger, though.
Responsive movement and great music quite fun experience
Nice, I liked the mechanics! With some more variety in upgrades/levels/monsters and maybe a way to earn more inventory slots, this could end up a really solid game! As it is, it's a worthy entry. It got kind of repetitive once I'd gotten some gear I was happy with and figured out how to deal with the bugs, but that's excusable for a short-length jam like this. And the music was good enough company. Nicely done!
Good job with the game. I liked your use of the theme to give the player multiple choices that felt viable. The art and music both worked well for it. I would loved to see more possible tile sets. Nice work.
Nice Job. The graphics are cute and the audio is on point.
Good concept, nice graphics and music. It is fun to play. Just controls are an issue for me. It is non-intuitive to confirm picked item. I died a couple of times because I couldn't move as I just picked an item. Also I would choose different buttons for dash and item pickup. And last thing, the game is not QWERTZ friendly, so I had to switch a keyboard. These are just some recommendations maybe for next project. Otherwise really nice :)
I like this game a lot. Very innovative! The item system reminds me a lot of the game 'risk of rain' in a way. If you have played that game you probably know what I mean.
The game is quite fun and the concept was pretty interesting.
I completed most of the game without dropping a single item, which made me think that maybe there should be more hazards that punished you if you were carrying too many. That would make players have to choose which to leave behind.
